Are there any topical treatments available, for effectively eliminating (curing, reducing, etc.) cellulitis? Whether through mainstream medicine (a.k.a., conventional medicine) or functional /holistic / alternative medicine? One example of the latter, which I've heard of, is a therapy called Chlorine Dioxide. ~ topically applied, but it takes a lot of care and specialized / detailed knowledge, it appears. ~ Have you ever heard of this approach?
@gentleoldmoviefan5680 unfortunately no I have not heard of this approach. If a patient is diagnosed with cellulitis an antibiotics is needed as it is not a local infection.
I wish she would stop touching the tip of the Q-tip applicator. It gives ppl the idea that they are allowed to do that. She always repeats herself several times throughout her videos. I think it would be much better for her to know that ppl can watch that part again if they didn't hear it or get it. With her notes on the screen, she could describe with an exclamation point if it's really important. Other than that, I like her and her videos. And thank you for your knowledge.
Great video. Thanks for the info. Hydrocolloid bandages are amazing, and can frequently cut healing time in half. But you're pronouncing "debridement" wrong. The "i" is pronounced like an "e," with the second "e" being silent.
Can i ask mme how to remove the necrotic tissue..? What are the way to debridge?
At the wound clinic here in denver at porter, they keep people sick. The débrider there loves making people bleed
Thank you
My twin sister died from cellulitis. She was still very young. Is cellulitis hereditary?
Intermittent fasting for 16 to 18 hours per day with either an 8 - or 6-hour eating window increases autophagy, which greatly reduces infections and has scientifically proven better outcomes 😊
Hi Nurse Alyssa, what is the usual timetable for exudates to stop coming out of a wound??. My 3 week-wound from a dog bite is healing well, the swelling has stopped and the wound seems getting smaller by the day. I apply Vaselline and bandage over it daily after cleaning (soap and water). I am just wondering until when should I stop covering it and switching to silicon sheet perhaps??🤔 i also wonder if the moistness from my wound will go on as long as I do what I do, please advise what are the signs I should look out for to stop. Thanks in advance!😊
@YogaPinay Thanks for the great questions! Exudate will stop once the wound is fully healed. Keep bandaging daily until the wound has closed completely. With the wound being 3 weeks old, you are at a higher risk of infection if you leave it open to air. Therefore, the best practice for your wound is to keep it eye ball moist and covered. Once the wound is healed, if you are worried about scaring at the point, you can move to a silicone sheet. Hope this helps. If you are looking for more help, please feel free to book an apt with me at thewoundconsultant.com
@@NurseAlyssa39 thank you so much❤️
Too many technical jargon
For wound care as you're discussing here, how would Dakins solution rate and/or compare with hydrogen peroxide or antibiotic ointment?
@SuperSaltydog77 it's has a lower tissue toxicity than peroxide. Peroxide will kill good tissue and prolong wound healing. This is a cleaning solution to clean the wound . Antibiotic ointment can be used after cleaning.
@@NurseAlyssa39 Thank you for your reply this solution could/would be a more long term wound care than peroxide
Hi Nurse Alyssa, thanks for your complete info on how to prevent scarring. Can you expound why we don't want scabs to form?? if that is the body's natural bandage, why is it not ideal??
Moist wound healing is gold standard. Now with that said a small cut scratches ext are fine to let scab over and heal. Moist wound healing is more for chronic wounds.
@@NurseAlyssa39 Thank you! I just watched your other video explaining what a chronic wound would be. I guess the dog bite on my leg, although deep, seems to be healing well and cannot be categorized as chronic yet?? I have been keeping my wound moist, cleaning it daily with soap and water, then covering with Vaselline and bandage. It looks very swollen the first 2 weeks and seems much better now although still not dry.
How often should this bactigrass be changed? Does it have an adhesive?
May be left in place for 4 days, although most dressing changes are q 2-3 days, it is a nonstick contact layer with an antimicrobial (chlorohexidine). you do need to use a cover dressing over top of this. Any cover dressing is appropriate just ensure it can handle the amount of exudate coming out of the wound.
I had developed a sudden and unexpected reaction to the posterior side of my shoulder, early in the day the skin was fine, however, by late evening there was an area that was shaped like a triangle with a bordered lining, All the skin on the inside looked like it received a hug dose of the sun because it felt like a really bad burn. I don’t expose my skin to the sum, and when i do I use sunscreen. I’m still shocked as to how quickly my skin changed it became ulcerated, was extremely painful. I had applied antibiotic cream on it prior to it becoming ulcerated. Then I was worried that it might be infected because it was a light yellow secretion that formed a scab. There was no blood, because the skin was not injured prior to this, however, it was extremely painfully for almost 2 days. There is still pain, and I believe that it is cellulitis, but I am glad that I learned that there is serous fluids that is a light yellow, otherwise I’d still be freaking out that its infected. When its not.
This situation does seem off to me and I would suggest having it looked at by your Dr. Just because it does not have pus coming from the wound, cellulitis will not go away on its own and does require abx. In addition, a random ulcer forming on your shoulder for no reason is concerning.
Question why did my foot dr. tear off my scab when my leg wound started? GE SAID U DONT WANT A SCAB TO HEAL
It depends on the type of wound to be honest and if it is truly a scab. Chronic wounds are best healed under moist wound healing.
thank you. I have been studying how to help take care of cuts and injuries in a field remote setting. I am preparing a field first aid self aid kit and I will now include povidone iodine. I have watched a number of your videos.
Can u use is if someone has cancer thanks please reply
As long as it has not been said to stay away from honey for any reason , it is fine to use.
Very helpful, thankyou!
I had lost hope, I had surgery in Colombia and my stitches got infected and a big hole open on my pubic area, Nothing has been able to cure this hole. The doctor finally was able to make it little smaller, but I believe this is going to help me more than these people ever could thank you very much for the video I can go back to the US and get better, has been a nightmare!
Just wanna say thanks for this simple informative video. You made this all very simple to understand.
You're very welcome!
This helped. I had cyst removal surgery in May and theres one part of the incision that is open still and it is draining
Broo samee....😢
I started on the vashe about 2 weeks ago. In my wound that I have had for 14 years is pretty big and nothing has helped. I have noticed in this last 10 days. Or so That's really helped to clean my wound. It looks so much better. They ever did great stuff I also had tremendous drainage, and the vashe has also stopped the drainage trenendously. Fabulous product
Thanks for sharing, I am glad this product is working well for you!
I have had chronic recurrent cellulitis in legs since 2005-6. At least once, it turned out to be cutaneous diphtheria.
What can be used as secondary dressing after mepital in the case of skin tears
You can use any type of cover dressing that you see fit depending on the amount of exudate you are dealing with.
When you're used to the chaos, it's no big deal 😜
This hurt this absolutely is pain full once pulled it is no way to smoothly pull it
Is the dressing drying out? That may be causing the pain.
Thank you. Very helpfull👍👍
miss seeing you
You are a Godsend. Thanks so much for your timely information. Imagine all of the people you have helped but will never meet. Thanks for being an angel in disguise.👼
You are so welcome, thank you for the kind words!
😍❤️
God, you're beautiful
Great vid Alyssa 👍🏽
So what ur saying is if we shower daily that’s cleaning it enough?
Great thank you!!
Lol
I like hearing your voice. AI makes me want to scream. I really like your wound care videos. As a homecare nurse, I find value in them . AI cheapens them. Please your likeness, voice and ideas. Thats what got me to follow you in the first place!
I will be back, unfortunately with my child having health complications I am doing all I can do at this time <3
Very helpful thankyou ma'am
I fell off my bike a few days ago and right now there is yellowish orange juice coming out and there is a layer of yellow stuff on my wound
😂😂
I sliced my fingertip with a mandolin slicer. It bleeds profusely but doesn't gush. I initially put a cotton ball, wrapped it with a gauze pad and sealed it with a silicone toe shield. It stopped the bleeding but when nighttime came, I knew I had to clean it up and re-dress. However, the newly formed skin cells were adhering to the cotton ball. I wet it to see if it would fall off but I got too impatient. I ended up gently yanking it off and the bleeding continued again. I cleaned it even through it bled again and just wrapped like two gauze pads around my finger. Is the Vaseline for when a scab is formed? What should I do if it bleeds
You should you a non stick contact layer , and don't get impatient it can take up to 15 mins to self release or it will just keep opening.
bro lol
thank you for posting something for us! Came here to help my wife 3 months post surgery... <3
Dude...
Working in retail is like that 😂
