Drink it the way you like. I prefer neat, but will never tell people how to drink their drinks.

The best whisk(e)y is the whisk(e)y you like, the way you like to drink it. Although I will say, if you're going to do ice, go the extra mile and use large form 2"x2" ice so that you have minimal dilution of your spirit and so that the ice doesn't impact the flavor of the whisk(e)y too badly. Freezer ice can give it some funky flavors in my experience.

I'm right with you on the ice.Never ever... Ice it up if you want to but you will be missing so much aroma, flavour and mouth feel .
    Cheers !!

If you're trying to have maximum whisky flavours, then neat or with some water is the way to go! Adding ice will numb the aromas. But then again, drink it however you want, you bought the whisky with your money.

Malts I drink with a little water, but for blends ice is fine. Compass Box Orchard House with a little ice is an excellent summer sipper.

If you've never tasted that whisky before, agree have it neat first to get the full flavour.
If it's a whisky you are familiar with, then do as you like. It's your dram, you decide how you drink it

It IS a preference thing, but I generally agree with you. Try putting some ice in a laphroaig 10 though, it's already watered down anyway, might as well give it a kick in a different direction, and it's quite a nice summer drink

Drink what you want to drink the way you want to drink it. Hush.

how about diluting with a teaspoon of water? Ralfy recommends it.

In hot Summerdays i really like a Bourbon/VirginOak matured/finished Malt with Ginger Ale and a Splash of Lime juice with some Icerocks.
Over the Year i've been gifted 1-2 Bottles of Scotch i dont like neat, so there is a Way for me to enjoy these Bottles. 😅
A Cocktail or Longdrink also gets better with higher Quality Ingredients.
But of course i prefer a good Single Malt always neat or with some Drops of Water.😅

I see where you are going with this particularly once you ruled out blends. However, perhaps a gentler approach would be to start with it neat and if dissatisfied modify your dram as need be. I can think of a few single malts that left me with no choice “B---more 12”. I’m enjoying your channel. Thanks

Thanks for the comment Jan, much appreciated. To be clear, I’m specifically referring to the effects that ice has on a single malt whisky. I always encourage adding some room temperature water in order to suite your palette. 🥃

How would you drink it in 35 degree celcius weather? Even a chilled glass doesn't work, neither do whiskey stones in my experience.

I like single malt neat, but I definitely am pouring Monkey Shoulder on a rock.
