With Googles 3, can obstacle avoidance and tracking be used simultaneously, for Mini 4 Pro using the RC2 or RC Motion 3?
I picked up my mini 4 pro in Feb when I heard the firmware was upgraded for the goggles 2 to become compatible. Then I ordered my goggles 2, then I realized you cant fly the mini 4 pro with the goggles 2 without the motion controller. Then I order the motion controller. A month later the goggles 3 come out, just past my amazon return window on the goggles 2. lol.
2 questions.
Can I now run my goggles 2 with the rc2 and not need the motion controller?
Do the goggles 3 have a wider IPD for my freaking fat face?? The goggles 2 blur at the edges.

To sad that it did not come to DJI Mini 3 Pro, at least not what I could see in my unit. A note about the hight setting for return to home, is that it is better to notice what hight you need to have to get above every obstacle around where you flight at the moment. When setting higher than nessecery you use more power and might see a higher risk of not getting back home.

I just started looking at drones like 3 days ago after watching an incredible bunch of footage with the mini 4. Now you're telling me I can put goggles on and use a joystick to control this thing. So it's like an Oculus. I've never had a drone like this I've only done RC cars in the past. I have so much to learn but I'm totally excited about this, I'm definitely getting the mini 4 pro. My only question is Do I want that little racer one that you are looking at right there with this. What does that do? I need to learn so much about this I'm so excited if you couldn't tell😂

I ordered the goggles immediately when I saw the update for the Air 3 and RC2. I do wish you could still see the same feed on the screen though so you could give a cool experience to people wanting to see while you are flying. That’s kind of disappointing. Still going to be fun though.

With repect to flying goggles 3 and Air 3, said at 3:18 that you need to connect your cell phone to pair. Does the cell phone have to remain connected to the goggles?

no but you wouldn't want to as its a different type of drone not a cinematic drone with the rc2
Personally I would want it to and think it should considering the RC2 is ocusync 4. Being forced to buy the RC3 for the Avata 2 if you want to fly sticks which a lot of people do doesn’t seem reasonable. Hopefully a firmware update will fix this.
When using Googles 3 with RC2, a few questions:-
1. Does the zoom still work?
2. Does head tracking still work?
3. Can the intelligent flight modes be used and activated via the new motion controller point and click interface?

you need to connect the googles to the phone to use it? You can not connect it to the RC 2 without phone?
Other videos show they don’t use the phone connected to the googles only to carry out a firmware update
One more hard to notice change. Before this update, the RC-2 controller used to change it's MAC address every time the controler was turned on. That feature made it hard to enable access to internet with your home router, when you have your router set up for security, just for devices with a known MAC address. Now, the RC-2 seems to keep it's MAC address. It will lockt into your router, without the need to compromise security by changing the settings of the router.

Yes it's very disappointing... this needs to change in the very near future. They just came out so hopefully this is just on the list.
These are the business consequences from being the best in class(even the only game in town) Very close to a monopoly. There are also ecological concerns on top of the economics. All this(polluting to make) hardware that will be put on the shelves and forgotten each time a new iteration comes out.
Same Modus Operandi with DJI Enterprise drones: as soon as a new model hits the market, the 'old' multi thousand dollar drones, gets 'abandoned'.
Any manufacturer caring for its customers would propagate new features downstream as long as hardware supports them. DJI does the opposite: strips functions and compatibility from its drones to make the 'old' models feel really outdated really quick.
One example: why can't the Mavic 2 Enterprise series of drones get a C class certificate? No good reason exist - they're riding the new regulations and abandon their own product to force early adopters to buy new multi-thousand tools to stay in business. Really shitty badwill...
This is the foremost reason why government bodies in my country now are looking elsewhere for a manufacturer who will support their products under a reasonable lifetime.
@michaelfuchs1467 I mostly agree with what you said Sir, however the(claimed) reason that the USA are looking gvto ban DJI products are not for ecological reasons. I like what Nikon has been doing with their cameras in the last few years. They provide new firmware adding features to models which have been out for up to a few years. That's a smart move.

I have 2 generic PLUS batteries that I bought on Amazon. It works perfectly. After the update, the message "Battery is not from DJI. Aircraft unable to fly (Code: 16200502)" now appears.
Does anyone know how to solve it, only the battery that comes with the drone works normally.
Did you have the M4P C1 certified? If yes, your probably screwed, because a non DJI battery voids the C1 and C0 of the drone. Maybe if you declassify to legasy, it will work again, if that can be done.
Question, when you use the regular controller for the air 3 does the phone have to be connected to the goggles 3 the whole time,thank you 😊

So did my Update and now my 2 extended range Batts are not recognized and will not take off with them in.
Regular DJI Batteries work fine just the 2 Aftermarket but a Bummer really liked the Bigger ones!!

there an even newer update 1.13.1 i got it yesterday 16th april 2024... seems fine. obviously something wrong with the other one to bring out a new one so fast.

I think unless you’re doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about, I can’t see some dude in China sat in the corner of the DJI office watching everyone’s drone. It may also help with flyaway claims and might be more to help track down those who fly in restricted airspace etc

Yes once you have the goggle connected the rc2 screen is black and the view is though the goggles

Today I crashed my drone at 5 km/h and a big obstacle ahead. Everything was properly recorded.

Most important feature of this update for Mini 4 Pro is, that all the pilots who have there Mini 4 Pro declassified from C0 to legacy in 2023 and have applied and registered for C1 certification, they can now enter there remote ID in Security. That wasn't possible for owners of declassified M4P, only for those who still had C0 could do it. This part is fixed now. Also with M4P C1 drones, you don't get the warning of not complying C0, when inserting a heavier plus battery. That warning is gone. Another change to be C1 compliant is, that the green LED flashlights don't turn off when recording Video. They are constantly flashing now during flight, no matter if you record or not, enabeling legal night flights without additional LED installed. One bad news for all who have bought a plus battery from a 3. party manufacturer. The new software recognizes, if a non DJI battery is in the drone and since that violates the C1 certification of the drone, DJI FlyApp refuses the take off. These 3. party battery are now just good as door stoppers. Good flights and clear skys to all.
If they don't update the air 3 with goggles 3 and rc2 to allow 3 to 9x zoom in 5 days I'll probably return it

still need 'line of sight' when using mini 4pro etc so i wouldn't recommend using the goggles.

You didn't mention that several Air 3 functions are crippled in the goggles. For one you can't switch to the 3 or 9x camera while wearing the goggles..Even from the controller. Many other things. DEAL BREAKER for me.

Once again! Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You UA-camrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. This seems so logical why hasn't DJI done this? It's all O4 so it should just be a software update.
