The Honda Talon should have came with their VTEC 300 HP 4 cylinder with the 6spd DCT. That would have been awesome!!! That way instead of just saying their SxS Honda Talon is the latest and greatest it actually would be the latest and greatest. The crazy part is if you buy the Jackson Racing Turbo it will land you they say 60 ish HP, when in fact every Honda Talon that has been dyno tested has only put out 130 HP to the wheels and that turbo is $6K. On Honda’s own website you can buy the VTEC Type R 310 HP motor with Turbo for $7K. Could you imagine how many SxSs Honda would sale. I payed $17,200 for my 2019 Honda Talon 1000 R new. I would have gladly payed $24K or even $25K for a Honda Talon 1000-R 72” Long Travel with factory 33” Tires and the VTECH motor.
Very cool machine! I'm sure it costs a fortune but I'd wager 20 years from now this thing will still be on the trail while many others will long since have a become steel roofing. When you look at old machines for sale today 75% of the ones still running properly are Honda's..... Just saying.
Nicely done video and review Kevin. That machine is beautiful inside and out. I’m sure it’s expensive but hey, who ever would have thought that a new Wrangler Rubicon with a V8 would cost $85k 😂
Yeaaah buddy! Technically, they haven't released the info yet... If you don't mind me asking, did you learn about it from my video last week breaking the news ua-cam.com/video/pl4kdb_N9LU/v-deo.html or was it somewhere else?
I don't like the fact of the price hikes right now. My only real issue with the Honda Talon at this moment is the fact I don't like the i 4 wheel drive I want to wheel drive, all wheel drive, 4 wheel drive differential lock. I do like the twin Cylinder engine. I think you should get a lot more for what you pay for. I think it is ridiculous what they sell them for compared to what they have to pay to make it. That being said until they change some things I'll just buy another 4 Wheeler
Hi there. I have the Talon x4. 2020. I went out on a limb and tried it. You bring up a valid point. It’s the one thing I wish was different about the Talon. There is a differential lock that is after market. It’s pretty much bomb proof from what I’ve read. I don’t have it so can’t attest to that fact. So far the thing has been a goat and it hasn’t mattered. Except for 2 situations. I went to an event at Sand Hollow Utah. It was extreme rock crawling. There was one obstacle I wasn’t able to clear and it was the i4wd holding me back. If I had full locker would have made it. The spotter said “hey lock your front” I replied with “that’s as locked as it gets lol”. Another time I noticed an issue was when I was trying to blast a mostly sand steep hill. I feel I could have made it if the fronts were truly locked. Other than that I have done some extremely gnarly stuff and it hasn’t mattered. I’m a big fan of the kawi 4 seater but then you lose the transmission and back to belts. From what I see with my local riding group of mostly Polaris and Can-Am is belts kinda suck. I smell them when we are doing heavy duty stuff, they have snapped on people’s buggies. I also hate the monotone engine noise of a belt. I like hearing gear changes and motor rev changes. All in all I’m very happy with the buggy. I guess the main point of the message is that if you like the rig there is a work around. We are in Arizona so it’s all dry, Rocky, sandy, type of terrain. I assume in mud this i4wd might show weakness as well. Same with snow. Idk as I never get to ride in those conditions.
Go out of state that allows it, get it street legal, go back home and drive by the police station with a flip off sign on top while holding an unopen can of beer....lol😅😅😅😅😅
Ahhh yeah, as a massive mini moto fan - I like your thinking! lol yessir, you expected correctly! This is the Talon 1000X-4 FOX Live Valve which has an MSRP of $24,199 when stock and then you've got over $10,000 in goodies installed so she's well over what a lot of cars cost nowadays. It's wild what kind of money people spend these days on side by sides but hey, if I had the spare $$ to burn - I'd be right there joining in on the fun too lol!
@@HondaProKevin It annoys me that I live in a state that claims to be about "Freedom (tm)" but I cant register SxS's or dune buggy's. I'm also not required to wear a helmet but I have to register and pay insurance on a 50cc moped.
I’m a die hard can am fan, but told my friend I would keep an open mind and look at the Talon. Anyone have experience with both that can share their opinion?
We have the pioneer 1000 6 and my friend has a canam defender fully loaded with cab n AC..... we've never had any problems n he's never had any problems....neither one of us drives these rides stupid like a lotuv retards our there
Oh yeah, very nice and very expensive too but like they say - you gotta pay to play lol! She's street legal here but I know every state, county, city etc can have different laws and regulations on that front. There are a few Talon and Pioneer models outfitted the same as this one, with a tag rolling around on the streets ;)
It'll vary on location of course but here in Chattanooga, TN - this setup is 100% street legal and you'll find quite a few SxS just like this one rolling down the road. Legally ;)

💯
Honda is not about to put a car engine in a UTV.
Trying to put that engine in a Talon would effectively be building a whole different vehicle
@@jessewoody5772 yeah but it sure would be cool.
@@stgraves260 yes it would. And it would be a Honda. 😁

I absolutely LOVE this machine and will ask Santa if it will fit in his sleigh. Great job on the video and covering all the information, Kevin!
We need to see this wheel and tire setup on the 2023 pioneers 1000-6 crew.😊
They just released there will be a Talon 4-R for 2023!! Sick!

You can also send me one of those sombreros! Looking good. I can trade a touque.
Kevin maybe you know what states this kit would make it road legal. Here in Pennsylvania it won't help!
My god I want one!! Just ship it to Canada for me...along with 50K USD 😉

Go to night school and get a job. Then you can afford a new SxS.
LOL I do have a job, Not everyone gets paid and sane amounts of money to do nothing.

Excellent! 👏😉👍 --QM
Appreciate ya QM!
Needs the r model suspension factory, with the fox 3.0 shocks.
100%! Thankfully we're finally getting that R 4-seater for 2023.
Where do i go for these parts
It's all linked in the video description ;)
It would be so easy to refit a Talon with a GL1000 engine from long ago, with modern tech, and blow away all competition.
How can you make this street legal in Kentucky

@redblue40rc33 what out of state to make it legal??
Cool staff
I want one of these just to haul a trailer of mini motos. I’m kinda expecting this to cost about the same as a car now though…

It's street legal here in Tennessee and some of our surrounding states that are thankfully, pretty easy to make things legal for select roads ;)

Probably 30 grand easy.
hasn't even had a proper break-in, feel sorry for whoever buys it
