- Changes to the Isle of Man TT race programme for 1995 saw the Junior TT being allocated to 600cc machines, replacing the Supersport 600 Race and the Supersport 400s were included in the Lightweight TT which was 'back to basics' with 250cc machines.
1995 made Joey Dunlop the most successful TT rider ever and the quickest 250cc rider in TT history as he made up for his disappointment in the 125cc race by going all out in the Lightweight 250cc, collecting win number 18 by 25.5 seconds from James Courtney and Gavin Lee with a record race speed of 115.68mph.

Joey Dunlop held mythical status to us Australians who could only read about him in the magazines. At the GP Phillip Island I saw a duke vhs of Joey doing a lap of iom with camera on the bike and commentary , and had to buy it. I read in an interview he said how much he liked road riding, how quick he was and how short circuit he just didn’t feel comfortable. True riding road racing, we always thought he was the real deal back in the 90s, the real best rider in the world.
He was, without any dispute.
I had the pleasure of speaking to him many times and watch him racing.
My son is named after him.

JO3Y 💗✊
Amazing footage. It’s too bad they don’t race Moto3 bikes around the Mountain Course. I guess the price tag is too high.
Yer Maun... the Master.
