I only came to motorcycling in 1989, after I passed my test. This was the first video on racing that I bought. I was absolutely awestruck, both at the speed and also the nonchalant commentary. I have been a true fan ever since. RIP, Joey, and thanks for the memories.
Absolute Road Racing Royalty... im not ashamed to say i cried when it was announced he had died.. i was sat in the comms room at work and a mate passed on the bad news...
He is sorely missed by the racing community...and all his friends in the IoM...
RIP fella you will NOT be forgotten..
I was fishing with my son, when my wife rang to tell me she'd heard it on the radio........it finished the days fishing.
I'm grateful to have seen Joey racing many times and met him on many occasions in the paddock and shows.
RIP Joey ! A true Legend !
We still miss the yellow helmet and #3 😔
same here man..same here
Sausage smoker
Dude had a film camera on board while he was racing, AND was passing guys like they were out sightseeing. Amazing stuff.
It wasn't a race lap, it was a practice lap. . .
He wasn't racing it was filmed at Manx GP practice in 1983 he did win the F1 TT earlier in year no Canara then lol
I still remember the first time I saw this back in the 80's and it still looks just as wild today - especially with his droll comments "you got to be careful". RIP Joey - the master.
Joey is my hero... He was the absolute best.... When I grow up, I want to be like Joey...
Hats off to Chris Carter as well , a true pioneer and legend in the art of communicating, interviewing, and narrating motorcycle racing !
How carefully he opens that throttle and how precise his movements are it is always a pleasure to watch a master at work. RIP Joey, you were the soundtrack to my childhood
Joey doing a lap with the worlds first and most awkward gopro and still passing and gaping everyone... Legend! RIP
And on that beast of a bike. RS850. V4. Only 3 built. Joey got one.......
'i can judge it without seeing round it'... genius. RIP joey.
Mark Bullock , that is the words you can't forget, gains a lot of speed there, incredible, legend.
At risk of sounding like a commercial, its a damn good job Duke video are around or i wouldve missed so much!!
RIP to the legend of legends.
I remember this being the best on board footage from the eighties. Wore out the VHS tape many years ago. Wish this could be cleaned up, remastered and put on Blu-Ray.
"I kinda go from one bit I like to the next bit I like"......."I like the quick bits"
Legend, GOAT, Joey........
Precious gold , this footage
No matter how many times I watch this clip, I'm always left in awe of the man and the machine in perfect harmony. The V4 'HOWL' is just the cherry on top.
William Joseph (Joey) Dunlop OBE (25 February 1952 - 2 July 2000) Ride In Peace. A true genius on any given motorcycle and as if that wasn't enough, a top class human being too.

That's why us Irish are so good on the bikes. We speak slow but think fast. RIP Joey :)
I was seated on this bike today, its being done up at the moment. It has sat in an old boys shed for years, what a bike...
I once stood about fifteen feet from the Mr Dunlop but did not recognise him, this was in NZ during New Brighton street racing meet.My Mate knew who he was and got his autograph.Boy was I green with envy! Still kickin' meself over it!
Riding in Gods team ,, The Great One , the late Joey Dunlop . R.I.P. 🌹
In an era of egotistical sportsmen, Joey Dunlop was just a humble guy. Success never changed him. Had he been alive today he would still have wanted to race.
King of Kings...A real Top Gun
He means "in relation to the confidence he felt-the grip factor, his ability to turn it,and the knowledge of whats ahead"LEGEND
Joey a true legend,a true gentleman. Simply the best.

The master at work, great footage
I used to watch him in person at the nw200 and tandragee 100 in N. Ireland when i was a wee lad. Great memories.

The Honda V4s were amazing motors and still are.

Experience and instinct.
R.I.P Joey Dunlop,x.
Before they modernised all the kerbing and edging for fuck's sake!! Like going for a drive thru the country villages but 15 times as fast. No-one like him before or since. And to come back at 45 or whatever to snatch a GP in the last seconds from that young git. IOM in every category so many times. What a bloke. RIP Joey. Makes me wish I was Irish

Well that was an forced bit of commentary
tt is so overrated, rather watch the cookstown 100 or tandragee or ugp.
TT = race against the watch. it's not open road racing in pack you fool! compare what is comparable. dumbass.
