Somebody please count how many times I said "OMG" in this video 🤣 Seriously......that was my honest reaction because I couldn't believe the hacks worked to well!!
Hon, you r such such a hoot. You make me laugh & educate me at the same time. I started watching ur videos bc of Pollux but stayed bc u just made my days better. Ty Renee, may 2022 b filled w/ love & blessings as u have given us. 🙏🏼
Good to know I'm not the only one who loves cleaning. 😄 I'm 60 and grew up with 8 siblings. We all had a specific chore to do and started at an early age. So I've been cleaning for 50 plus years! I have 5 children, (adults now). And used to clean houses for a living. I never liked chemicals. I've been cleaning, mold removing and disinfecting with vinegar, bleach (I know it's a chemical), lemons, oranges and isopropyl alcohol for years. Saves a lot of money on commercial cleaning products. Love your videos! 👍🏼
There’s another “cleaner” on YT and she give great advice when cleaning stainless, she says rub the cleaning cloth with the grain of the stainless, not circles , not against the grain.. DIDNT even know stainless had a grain. I’ve really enjoyed this video, you’re speaking my “language”.
Since granite countertops have a sealant on them; to keep them shiny and stain-resistant, you want to avoid using anything too acidic or basic on the granite. Frequent use of vinegar, Windex or bleach will dull the granite and weaken the sealant and finally removes the sealant. Instead, use a little soap and water to clean your granite or use a granite cleaner made specifically for granite. This recommendation, on how to care for your granite, comes from a granite website. The faucet clean idea is spot on!
@@rld1278 Granite website say that vinegar is not good to use on granite countertops. It is recommended you use soap and water. Or, use a good granite cleaner.
We use Dawn Degreaser at our restaurant to clean the sinks, floors, bathrooms and that stuff works amazing. We are a burger place so there is a lot of grease. I love to clean with that stuff. Lol
That Dawn degreaser is amazeballs. I use white vinegar all the time. It's a great water softener for the laundry; I put white vinegar in the rinse cycle when I wash towels to help get the soap out and make them more fluffy. I also use it to clean my microwave; I put a MW-safe bowl of white vinegar inside, zap it to get it hot and steamy, let it sit in there for a while, then wipe everything down. Works great; I follow up with warm soapy water if the surface still feels tacky.
Sweet Pollux was in the animal shelter so long he might have gotten anxiety from it and chewed up the bedspread. I’m so happy you saved him. He is so happy 🤗
Hi Renee! I have used white vinegar for years on different things. It is great to run through your coffee pot to clean it. I also use white vinegar and dawn soap mixed together in a spray bottle to clean my shower. It works better than most cleaners you can buy. You have the sweetest and cutest dogs! Thanks for sharing!
@@swone6349 Yes it is. There have been times that I have used less Dawn soap merely because it makes it pretty soapy. Just heat the vinegar up in the microwave and put in a squirt bottle and then add your soap and shake to incorporate it.
Hi Renee, I have used white vinegar on my taps and shower heads for year’s. Usually leave them overnight. Also soak paper towel in vinegar and wrap the wet towel around the base of my taps. The degreaser worked great too. Happy new year to you and your family 😊
I've used vinegar to clean for years. I do that with my kitchen and bathroom sinks as well Jo H. Also after the paper towels are soaked and wrapped if in a few hours they dry up or before going to bed. I pour more vinegar on or use a spray bottle to apply more making sure it's good and soaked. One other thing I do with vinegar soaked paper towels is tuck them up under the toilet bowl rim (that hard to reach area)? Thankfully we have 2 bathrooms so I can leave them on for hours, overnight, or do 2 treatments in a row depending how early I get started. The vinegar dissolves all that crud and I use a wire brush to finish the job. Flush, flush... 😉 What we women do to keep our homes clean is sacrificial love isn't it?! 😄
I enjoyed this video FAR more than a person should! Thanks for always keeping it real and for sharing the helpful tips and hacks you discover and test--I appreciate it! Can’t WAIT to try the degreaser on my range vent!
You can use vinegar in a bag on your shower head too. I have a hand shower in my bathroom. It needs a descaling, so I use paper toweling soaked in white vinegar and paste it all over the faucet, etc. Leave it overnight and clean off the next morning. Worked very well for me. Another tip ... to clean your inside drains ... pour bicarbonate of soda (baking soda where you are) down the drain followed by white vinegar. Allow to bubble and then pour an entire kettle of boiled water down the drain - opens up nicely. I do this in my laundry, kitchen, shower and bathroom.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls let me know if your drains come clean ... the baking soda absorbs the smells and reacts with the vinegar to clean off the gunk and it all rinses away with the boiled water.
I do that too to clean and unclog my drains Natalie!! I also use baking soda and vinegar to get the smell out of bath towels and clothing. I pour a cup of baking soda over the clothes and roughly 2 cups of vinegar set the washing machine to soak. When the cycle is done, I finish with a normal washing. Vinegar and baking soda is the bomb! 💣
@@lisagermick4560 I often use vinegar as a softener when washing my towels and I also use it in a solution I mix to do a tub clean for my washing machine. I always have vinegar and baking soda (being from South Africa we call it bicarbonate of soda) in my home. Good stuff!
I haven’t used or bought any cleaners in at least 10 years and have been making my own cleansers since I cleaned up first my food then my environment. I love it and my home is spotless and always smells amazing. There is a natural recipe for everything, and I delight in making them!
I’ve been using vinegar to clean, descale and rinse laundry in for years. There is regular 5% vinegar, and 6% cleaning vinegar. Be aware, both are highly acidic and not good for granite. Over time it will dull your granite and weaken the sealant. Be careful leaving the vinegar bag on your faucets as well. The vinegar will eat thru the clear coat on your faucets and cause discoloration. You need to use it in moderation in your coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine as well, as it can damage rubber seals and hoses and cause leaks.
We use vinegar & baking soda to clean our drain pipes about once every 6 months, no chemicals needs, that mixture cuts right through gunk built up from the soaps and shampoos. My husband finally has it down how to use the combo and hot water. But never knew about the Dawn degreaser so thank you for that! Love your enthusiasm, stuff like that makes me excited too😆! 🥰
Hi Sylvia, how do you o the drain/pipe cleaning every 6 months? That sounds so smart to do. We’ve had plumbing stuff so I’d like to try it. Thanks you!
@@Guinnivere Depending on the size of your family you may need to do it every 4 months but it’s just the two of us so we do it about ever six months. My husband said for every 1 pound box of baking soda you use one gallon of white vinegar, but when you do the last box of BS use an extra gallon of vinegar to help flush the BS down. So for the shower drain he does 4 boxes of BS/5 gallons of vinegar and for the bathroom sink he does 2/3. You need to put one box of BS then one gallon of vinegar and repeat until you use all that is needed. Then let it set for about 30 min and then pour slowly a large soup pot of boiling water down the drain, then let the hot water from the faucet run for about 5 min for the final flush. Just a side note if you have a hair clog vinegar does not dissolve hair so you would need a snake then you could do the vinegar/BS mix. You can also use generic products to help cut costs. I hope this makes sense.
Hey Renee- yes it’s so exciting to find anything that helps household cleaning easier, that dawn degreaser sure did cut through that icky grease! Love it. I’ve been a convert of vinegar, dishwashing liquid and a little water. Keep it in a spray bottle, it’s great for benchtops, general spills, bathroom cleaning. Happy Anniversary to you all. ❤️
Hi Renee. I do use white vinegar on my pull down faucets (and other places), but I have a little trick for you that's easier than the baggie. Pour about a 1/4 cup into a small bowl or mug that your faucet head will fit in. Then pull your faucet head down, clip it at the origin with a strong clip to keep it from popping back up, and let it sit in the cup of vinegar for the desired length of time. If your faucet head won't come down all the way just sit the cup on something a little higher in your sink. So much easier than the baggie, imo. Love all your videos! Happy New Year!
Dear Renee, You have managed to make a lot of household fun. I think these small cleaning victories are so enjoyable because, in this crazy world, there are some things we can do to make a difference by “cleaning our cage.” At least my kitchen and bathrooms will sparkle. Yes, I know this goes under the heading of OCD but there is satisfaction in getting my house cleaner. Thanks for the inspirational video.
Did someone say OCD? That's actually me. My husband would tell me to take a break from cleaning and I would sit for ten minutes, then go back till I finished. The use of vinegar and Dawn have been used in my home since early 70's. Best product around. 🙋♀️🤗
I know how excited you are rightnow, when you feed something that works so easy, I have been cleaning with vinegar and baking soda for many years, but you know a lot of things that a lot of us don't know get, so we are all learning from each other,
I finally secured a bottle of this today. All I can say is WOW!! So glad you showed this product on your channel. I am blown away with how effective it is. Thanks for letting us know about it. ❤
I just want to say thank you Renee! Your laugh and personality ❤️❤️ are infectious and you have truly made 2021 much more bearable. I just wanted to say THANK YOU and best wishes for a happy & healthy 2022!🥳🥳🥳🥳! Many thanks.
That looks like such an awesome tip Renee, thank you! My kitchen faucet is similar to yours in that it's a faucet and a sprayer. I just looked at it and I am mortified! I'm going to try the vinegar and baggie tonight! I enjoy watching your videos so much, I think you and Randy and your daughters are awesome. I'm hoping you have a happy healthy 2022.
My parents grew up during the great depression so I knew about the vinegar hack and I love the dawn ultra power wash for my dishes but am now seriously excited about trying the degreaser! Thanks for the tips! I understand how a little clean up snowballs into a small spring cleaning...Lol! I think I spring clean at least three times a year (blush). Happy degreasing!
Exactly! My Grandmother was a spotless cleaner and she used White Vinegar, salt & baking soda for nearly everything!! She poured a cup of white vinegar weekly into her toilet tank which kept her toilet cleaner, the minerals dirty the toilet that come from the tank. So it’s been around forever.
It is good to see you looking well and hppy. Yeagh I knew about the vinegar cleaning. Another tip with vinegar is to pour 1 cup baking soda into drains including toilet then add 1 cup vinegar onto it. A chemical reaction occurs and fizzes. This is a weakly or monthly way to help drains stay clean and draining well.🎈🎈 HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I did not know this vinegar trick. I’m so happy you showed us how to do this. My momma always taught me to use vinegar to clean a lot of things but this is a new one on me. Go get ‘em Girl! 👍💗🙏
I keep a bottle of vinegar, window cleaner and water to clean floors, faucets, counters, mirrors, laundry. Bath and rinse hair with cider vinegar. Clean drains with baking soda and white vinegar. I also use degreaser from sams club. Excellent and cheap. I often use baking soda and not cleanser. Happy cleaning🤗
When I was a girl, a few decades ago, I watch my aunt clean the kitchen pots. It was in rural Puerto Rico and those pots were used on gas stoves and the buttons were black. She clean them with wood cinder took from the outdoor fire pit. It was like a miracle, the black stuff just felt out.
I get excited over cleaning those little things that we just seem to forget or don't have the time in a normal day. I use Awesome Orange from Dollar Tree for all greasy things. Works wonders on light switch plates too. Have used the vinegar bag before but not lately. So you've nudged me to get on that today! We're a 3 person family with covid right now. Just one has symptoms. So I'll be cleaning during quarantine. Happy new year to all of you! Blessings!
Oh no Cindy! Hope everyone gets better soon!!! My mother and father in law both came down with the flu last week (and they both got a flu shot). Seems like it's that time of year...
@@WelcomeToMyCurls now I have several of the symptoms. Daughter is the only well one but asymptomatic. I hope your in-laws are feeling better now. So many people are sick with one of these viruses now. May we all have a better new year! BTW I would like one of your shirts but I'm waiting for the t-shirts since I don't wear sweat shirts. 😊
Dawn dish soap is seriously the absolute best for just about any cleaning! I've used it to wash dishes, my dogs, and best of all... it's the best stain remover you've ever used for your laundry!! My husband got sharpie all over his work shorts. A little dawn, a toothbrush, and some elbow grease.... you'd never knew it was there! Best of luck to you and your family in the New Year!🎉💕
I love clean with me videos . I suffer from seasonal depression and videos like this help me get into a mood to be productive ! Going to do the vinegar thing now !
I clean everything but my wood floors with Dawn products. But I didn’t believe vinegar could clean my faucets! Thank you for showing me differently. Have a happy and healthy 2022!
I grew up with hard water and still have well water and use it to clean facets. Mom used vinegar to clean all sorts of things. It’s cheep, no harsh chemicals. Good stuff!
I discovered clear surface desinfectant during the pandemic. I got it from the pharmacy to use on doorknobs and handrails at my workplace but then I noticed it is great on grease. I now use it on my lamps in the kitchen and the stove hood. It is cheaper than anything I used before and melts the grease in no time.
Hey Renee, just spray ur hood filters with Dawn n put them in the dishwasher. I do this all the time n they come out sparkling clean. Thanks for the help with the vinegar idea, never heard of this either.
I’ve found that if you just stick them in the dishwasher once a week or every other week, depending on how much you cook, they stay clean and shiny! I do mine every other Monday since I tend to cook most on the weekends.
I’m off to Menards on New Years Day in a snow storm to get the Dawn degreaser. I love to clean and have looked for a powerful degreaser for a while. I’m hooked on dawn power wash for my stove. I’m hoping to use the degreaser above my stove on my wood cabinets then follow up with wood polish. I’ve tried using Murphys wood soap and water in a spray bottle with lemon essential oils but it needs something stronger. I knew about the vinegar in a bag for my shower head but it never occurred to me to use on my faucets. Genius!
I’m 68. I grew up using white vinegar as my go to cleaner ‘cause my mom did. Taps, coffee pots (Keurig, too), anything. I’ve been learning about Dawn the past few years, and will for sure get some Dawn Degreaser. It looked like a heavier formula, which may be why it’s not sold in groceries. Thank you for sharing.
I use white vinegar all the time even in my laundry rinse cycle. I have been deep cleaning all day. Use the white vinegar on the shower heads as well. It works great! If the degreaser works for the hood I am going to look for it! Yup definitely getting the degreaser! I am the same way with cleaning. I keep going! LOL I'm going to try that degreaser on the grill!
Renee, I’m the same way! I want to clean everything when I try something new and it actually works. I keep a mixture of vinegar and dawn in a large spray bottle and use it in the shower and sinks. Another tip is to use baby wipes on doggy paws after they’ve been outside running on the yard. I get a large box from Costco. Thanks for another great video and including Pollux and Maxxie!
White vinegar can also be used as a fabric softener in your washer. Inexpensive. Hypoallergenic. Environmentally friendly. Clothes do NOT smell like vinegar when they come out of the dryer but NO static cling!
The best thing I’ve found for the sticky grease around the oven vent is Maguire’s Rim and Tire cleaner. You can find it at any car parts place. It’s in a dark pink/purple spray bottle and it is AMAZING!!
I actually keep a bottle of dawn in my laundry room. A grease spot on clothes comes out with a little drop and rubbing and then just wash as usual. I used to wash my hardwood floors with vinegar and water mixed together but I have never seen this water tap trick and I will definitely try it.
Dawn and peroxide will do the same thing! Put peroxide in a spray bottle with a few squirts of Dawn! It is so amazing I use it in the kitchen all the time to clean the stove and greasy dishes and pots and pans! Also a great spot remover for carpet!
Vinegar is a wonderful cleaner. I think for most faucets you can unscrew the end and drop that in a bowl of vinegar and leave for a few hours. Beats having to look up at it. I also run vinegar through our coffee maker.
Vinegar is a great cleaner for the toilet tank, been using it for months now and it has been the best for the hard water stain and smell in the tank with hardly any scrubbing. At the beginning i had to do it daily overnight until i saw the result i wanted, then, its simple maintenance of 1 cup/once or twice a week. I will look out for that degreaser here in NY. Thanks so much for this video. Great day to you.
Yes I am like you once I start cleaning I can't stop. I was depressed for awhile during the winter months but the last two weeks I have been cleaning like crazy. I have started declutering also. I have a hard time getting rid of things but I'm starting.
I’m on vacation all week so I’ve been cleaning. I call it “moseying” when I take my time around the house cleaning things I never have time to get to and I do it on my own time when I want to. Mosey here and mosey there but I get a lot done. I normally use Mean Green on grease but I’ll have to pick up some of that Dawn heavy duty degreaser. It did a fabulous job. *taking a hard look at my faucets*. Ewww. 😱. I discovered the Dawn powerwash this year and I love it. Happy New Year! 🥳
I bought my son and his family of three children, a cat and two huge sheading dogs, three Chomchom rollers after watching your video review. They just love them! I also sent one to my 86 year old step Mom who couldn't handle pulling out a big vacuum to pick up lint off of the couch anymore. Chomchom should send you a big fat check!!! Happy New Year to you Randy and the gang. 🥂
Have used white vinegar and Dawn together for years to clean everything. I will adopt baggie idea. I actually tried Dawn after I saw them washing birds that had gotten in oil slick with Dawn. Safe enough for them…I would try. I was already using vinegar and it needed a boost…Dawn was it. I am excited to go get Dawn degreaser. I want to see how it works compared to Krud Kutter. It is $3 higher here. Says Lowe’s carry smaller bottle. I am looking for something to clean white grout. I have even tried Clorox. Once I finally get clean I am using a darker grout color. Thanks for the hot tips. Fabulous to see y’all again. We were absolutely spoiled over the holidays getting a daily dose. See y’all next year! Happy New Years Y’all. Welcoming with open arms 2022! ((Hugs)) to Pollux and Maxxie. Cheer to you, Randy, girls and their boyfriends. 🎊😎✌️🎊 🥳
Hi Debbie, I use a clean product called GP 66 I purchase from QVC. It can be used on almost everything but I use it exclusively on my dark grout. All my floors, kitchen counters, and island are ceramic and I spray the grout, leave it on for 30 minutes or more and scrub it with a toothbrush. It's time consuming but worth it. I now have a schedule so it doesnt take quite as long to clean the kitchen but the floors are a different story. I still clean them myself but it takes work. Good luck
Just talked to my mom on the phone. She was going to get something to clean her shower head and I told her about what you were doing. She was really happy she has what she needs and NOW doesn't have to go out...its like below zero here. We owe you one💝😁
Do love a cleaning hack 🙂 I use white vinegar or lemon juice 🍋 (smells nicer) with bicarbonate of soda. You will see instant reaction between the the acid and bicarbonate, it cleans hard limescale quicker than the natural acid alone. I also use a purpose built bag called a 'Limey', saves using so much plastic on each clean. If you try it, you can use the bicarbonate from baking cupboard to see if you like the result, then purchase in bulk (I bought 5kg tub and decant to smaller tub for cleaning cupboard)......whoaaaaa, I'm getting old, if I'm using social to talk cleaning 😄🤣.....loved Maxxie & Pollux playing on your bed 💛💛
I have always used white vinegar for this. I also use spray bottles of white vinegar, dawn dish soap, rubbing alcohol and water as an all purpose spray. I have a bottle in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. Nontoxic and easy to use, easy to make and inexpensive to buy.
Hi Renee, I love to clean. It's soothing to me. I've been using dawn too since the oil spills used them on the birds. I've used Vinager for tea / coffee pots and for hard water mineral deposits in Texas we have hard water. Another great tip...did you know when cutting onions & garlic that if you run your hands and fingers over the stainless steel faucet it immediately takes the smell completely off your skin! It's unbelievable. When it became a real thing they started making stainless steel shape soap to keep in kitchen. Sold at the speciality Kitchen stores. That was 12 years ago. I never see them anymore but if you don't have one you will wonder how you ever existed without one. But your kitchen faucet if stainless steel it will work perfectly. Happy New Years Eve today and Happy New Year.
Yes, I knew about the vinegar. I put some in my dishwasher and in my laundry to de-scale in a cycle and vinegar can be used instead of softener as well. I'll have to look for that heavy duty de-greaser. I love Dawn products.
Citric acid (which can be bought in the UK at least and I imagine in the US) is another alternative to vinegar that's got a bit more kick but still good environmentally. Soda crystals for grease works really well when you think grease will never be removed!
You can also use hydrogen peroxide!! The extra oxide in it basically suffocates bacteria. The pH levels in vinegar help with the build up on the faucets. I like to use the peroxide for my tooth brushes and the holder! Half warm water and half peroxide and there’s soooo many bubbles.
I NEVER run out of vinegar at my house. Use it for everything from lime scale to windows. But I’ve never heard of Dawn degreaser I’m definitely looking for some of that next time I’m at Menards! Thanks, Renee!
Vinegar is great on a lot of appliances and faucets. Pots and pans, too --- let em soak in a mix of vinegar and Dawn for a half hour and anything that is stuck on will come off. Vinegar is really cheap and terrific for all sorts of cleaning...and one more suggestion --- use a spray bottle with vinegar for your mirrors ... the best! Wipe right away to avoid streaks ✨👏✨
If you have trouble finding the Dawn degreaser auto parts carry purple cleaners and Walmart also carries purple cleaning products. They do work. I have a friend that uses purple for everything and it works
I've been using vinegar as a cleaner for years! I will mention that I'm quite a bit older than you so I've had more years to figure it out! (I'm 72)- . You can put your filters in a trash bag with the degreaser and some water and let them sit (outside) for a while, also. Not much scrubbing at all when you take them out. I rinse off with the garden hose. I have a Reader's Digest - Our Best Advice - (little 47 pg book from 2005,) 188 Ingenious Uses for Vinegar. You wouldn't believe the tips it has in it! I also soak my fruits and veggies in vinegar water when I bring them home from the grocery, cleans and keeps them fresher. one more Dawn tip.....I keep a small bottle in my laundry cabinet, for extra greasy stains. I also have a small bottle in my travel kit. Thanks for the video! (run a vinegar soaked rag along the pull-out-hose that is in your faucet, too!)
I didn't know vinegar could clean away the scale and lime like that. I guess my our mom's and grandmother's knew all along what the best cleaners were. Cheap, effective & safe! How do you beat that? I recently discovered the cleaning power of baking soda this holiday season. I have a double oven and the tray that separates the top from the bottom oven is constantly covered in a grease residue that won't come clean. And my glass oven door windows are always caked in a gunk that just won't come off. Baking soda does the trick! Baking soda and vinegar also helped save one of my favorite cast iron enameled pots this holiday. I burnt a toffee batch and had a horrible burn mark on the bottom of my pot that just wouldn't budge. So I put some baking soda and vinegar with a bit of water and let it simmer on the stove for a bit. Took a few rounds of doing that but it came clean! I saved my pan. I'm not as excited about cleaning as you are though. Doesn't get me going quite as much. Happy New Year!
i use vinegar and baking soda works wonders and cheaper than cleanser house ends up smelling like a fish&chip shop also pour boiling water down drains every month you look so pretty love your shirt thanks for sharing the fur babies always make me smile another great video
I have the same range hood but in black. I usually clean the filters every few months with just hot water and dish soap. That Dawn stuff, though....I need to find a bottle! It will make it much easier. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Wow. The Dawn did an amazing job! Windex used to be my go to product. They have made changes to the ingredients to make it “safe”. Well it’s nothing better than water with blue dye! It cleans nothing. Even paper towels used to do a great job cleaning, now all I have is streaks and lint..that’s the good stuff not the generic. I’m now on the hunt for Dawn. Thanks for the info!
We got a new puppy who has managed to christen our nice down duvet and duvet cover. We bought washable replacements from Walmart. Lessons learned, LOL. Also, the vinegar trick works wonders. But be careful on stone countertops. Vinegar and lemon juice can ruin the factory seal or worse etch into the stone countertop causing a lot of damage.
Vinegar pet friendly. I use vinegar & a touch of dawn dish soap in our carpet cleaner. It works just as well as expensive carpet cleaning solution. I also fill a spray bottle half vinegar half water & a touch of dawn dish soap to use on my laminate countertops & pet stains on carpets 💖
I had no idea that Dawn degreaser even existed. I will definitely be looking for it now, tyvm for introducing me to it's existence! It's so satisfying to watch something come clean, especially when you've tried other things and it didn't work. On a side note, anyone that would judge you for having grease on the hood of your stove most likely hasn't taken a look at theirs lately, lol. Excellent job! 💯👍
Love these! Thank you! Amazing what Dawn degreaser can do!! You are such a bright and cheerful cleaner!! It's such good inspiration!! Hope you are having a great time enjoying fun times with Maxie and Pollux!! 💕💕💕 You share such a positive and upbeat can do attitude that's so inspiring and uplifting!! It's really admirable!! Thank you!!
Hi!! I even use vinegar in my coffee maker. Just perk it through. Doesn't need much. Just make sure you perk water through it after to get the vinegar out. Even with bottled water you can get some build up.
Hello Renee, The next time you clean the faucets I wet a paper towel with vinegar, and wrap it around each one and leave it sit for awhile. It will clean and take away all the scale that builds up. Works like magic! Quick and easy. Enjoy your winter time off and hope you and family (and Maxx and Pollux too) have a Healthy and Happy New Year!
I will have to try the Dawn degreaser. I bought a industrial degreaser consentrate called Tough Stuff that cuts through old kitchen grease. You have to mix with water, but when I sprayed it's magically dissolved and, heaven is singing, you have to quickly wipe it off. I was so obsessed the I cleaned all my super old appliances that sat long enough to gather grease. I could see chrome. I would get mad at my kids if I saw them misuse or waste it because there has been nothing on the planet that could cut grease like that stuff.
What I do is put car wax on my range hood and the side of my fridge that is right next to the stove and the dust and grime will not stick to it. No more scrubbing! Also works well for ceiling fan blades!
Yes! When I was a kid (I’m 65 now!), they made a product called Jubilee which was billed as “appliance wax”. It made things just slide right off when wiped down with a damp cloth. And finishes were all white and were prone to yellowing way back then - the Jubilee stopped that. And it smelled heavenly! They changed the formula and it didn’t work as well and appliances were made in pretty colors and with much improved finishes so it fell out of favor. I think you can still buy it, but unless they changed back to the old formula, probably not worth it. Except for the smell…😉
@@Lucinda_Jackson OMG!! I was just thinking about Jubilee the other day!!! Haven't used it in YEARS & don't know what made me think about it. And, yes.............that glorious scent!!!!! Used to do the entire kitchen when we would be expecting company!!
I take a spray bottle, mix dawn & vinegar & use it in my kitchen & bathroom.. just spray it on & let set for about 2/3 mins & wipe .. a little longer for the bath tub , but it works ! I use a few tablespoons per bottle of dawn with the vinegar. Cleans & smells great 😊
Looks like I've gotta get out of my pajamas and into the car to go find some Dawn degreaser because that was absolutely unbelievable! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!!
I've also got a stovetop hood and have tried many degreasers that are on the market. I'm going to search our small-town area for the Dawn Degreaser on Monday! Along with another person who has responded, my parents endured the depression and mom has always used vinegar on windows, perhaps even the water taps. Your video was such an eye-opener today, thank you!
Hi Renee...You are one of a kind person...I enjoy all your video's on family, testing products, and the dogs..Thank you for this great hack...I think later on I will take a Judy..
Greased Lightening is a good degreaser too. I have used it to clean motor oil off my garage floor and driveway when I bought my house. It was a mess. I use a hair clip to hold the baggie with vinegar in place. I have purchased a lot of neglected properties over the years. So getting things clean were always a challenge. Great video.
Wow, I'll be looking for the degreaser. I use vinegar to clean my dogs ears. Per the vet, 1 part vinegar 3 parts water. I keep a container made up and put a little on cotton square to clean ears. Keeps ears clean and infection free. Vinegar is great for tons of things...who knew. Cleaning coffee pots to floors.
Somebody please count how many times I said "OMG" in this video 🤣 Seriously......that was my honest reaction because I couldn't believe the hacks worked to well!!

I'm 60 and grew up with 8 siblings.
It's also helpful, once the crud is cleaned off, to use diluted vinegar to keep up with it, the thick deposits never come back if you do.
@@rld1278 Granite website say that vinegar is not good to use on granite countertops. It is recommended you use soap and water. Or, use a good granite cleaner.
@@lynfl9814 you're correct, vinegar eats away the stone and ruins the shine.
I was going to say the same. Vinegar good for many uses but not granite, marble, stone as it ruins the finish.
Thanks so much for sharing this.
Just Plain Water does the Trick as well.
I use water but vinegar seems better.

Where do you buy the dawn degreaser? I never heard of menards a day in my life lol
Is that equal parts?
@@swone6349 Yes it is. There have been times that I have used less Dawn soap merely because it makes it pretty soapy. Just heat the vinegar up in the microwave and put in a squirt bottle and then add your soap and shake to incorporate it.
I just used this to clean my hood and you are right. It’s FABULOUS. Thank you.
Hi Renee, I have used white vinegar on my taps and shower heads for year’s. Usually leave them overnight. Also soak paper towel in vinegar and wrap the wet towel around the base of my taps. The degreaser worked great too. Happy new year to you and your family 😊
Gosh....I never knew this! LOL
Thanks Jo H! i moved in new old house and the minerals are bad around faucets.
@@jmartin7856 hope this helps
What we women do to keep our homes clean is sacrificial love isn't it?! 😄
I thought this was quite common and well known for decades.
I enjoyed this video FAR more than a person should! Thanks for always keeping it real and for sharing the helpful tips and hacks you discover and test--I appreciate it! Can’t WAIT to try the degreaser on my range vent!
I am going to get some also asap, loved this video
Oooo that's a great tip on the drains.....I'll do that today!!!! I did put the vinegar on my shower head for a few hours and it cleaned up nicely :)
Good stuff!
@@natalievstaden1430, Epsom salts is also a good fabric softener. Thanks for the tips! I love when women come together and support each other. ❤
@@switt3203 DANG……that’s some serious flushing.
@@doghairdontcarelindaniel7531 well better than putting the poisonous harsh chemicals! It seems like a lot, but it’s really not.
I keep that mix in the refillable brush that sprays in my shower. My shower stays clean! Lol
I wonder if the same bowl of vinegar can be reuse on other faucets, one by one.
House cleaning is soooo satisfying!! It's the "small victories" as you say

If you Google the many uses of vinegar, you'd be surprise the many advantages it has over commercially developed products.

I worked for an automotive oil change center. They use Dawn to clean their shop floors. :)
That's good to know!!! Wow!

I discovered clear surface desinfectant during the pandemic. I got it from the pharmacy to use on doorknobs and handrails at my workplace but then I noticed it is great on grease.
I’m definitely going to try this. Thanks Renee. I love your channel because you are real.

White vinegar can also be used as a fabric softener in your washer. Inexpensive. Hypoallergenic. Environmentally friendly. Clothes do NOT smell like vinegar when they come out of the dryer but NO static cling!
Yes! Especially great for towels as it gets the soap residue off and leaves them soft and fresh smelling.
The best thing I’ve found for the sticky grease around the oven vent is Maguire’s Rim and Tire cleaner. You can find it at any car parts place. It’s in a dark pink/purple spray bottle and it is AMAZING!!
I just used that on my stove vents and it really does work great. And not as smelly as oven cleaner.
Thank you for this... I have been looking for something to do the job!!!
Zep purple degreaser will clean your hood vents effortlessly. Love it! You have to dilute it. You can get it at Menards. Use a 0000 steel wool.
Thank you thank you !!!! I have so much grease build up ! OMG !! Gonna get me some of that !! Thanks again !!!

Renee, You can put your filters from the fan over the stove in the dishwasher too.

Good luck
Thank you all. I am going to check into all your recommendations. Appreciate each and every single one of y’all! Happy New Year!!
Just talked to my mom on the phone. She was going to get something to clean her shower head and I told her about what you were doing. She was really happy she has what she needs and NOW doesn't have to go out...its like below zero here. We owe you one💝😁
Oh my......that's sooooo cold!!!! It's 70 degrees here and I just took the dogs on a walk 😁
Do love a cleaning hack 🙂
I use white vinegar or lemon juice 🍋 (smells nicer) with bicarbonate of soda.
Dang it Renee. Now I have to check my range hood!
LOL Oops! Sorry!
Amazon has the stainless steel “soaps”. They work great!
Yes, I knew about the vinegar. I put some in my dishwasher and in my laundry to de-scale in a cycle and vinegar can be used instead of softener as well. I'll have to look for that heavy duty de-greaser. I love Dawn products.
Always exciting when you find something that's amazing 🌟 My Granny used to swear by vinegar ❤ Happy New Year to you all 🌟🌼🌟 xxx
I love Dawn Degreaser and have used Dawn for for years. I will now do what you are doing. Thanks for this video.
Citric acid (which can be bought in the UK at least and I imagine in the US) is another alternative to vinegar that's got a bit more kick but still good environmentally. Soda crystals for grease works really well when you think grease will never be removed!
Baking soda is alkaline like the dawn or ammonia. Often works well with greasy items.
Greetings Renee! I had to pause the video to go clean my kitchen!! Love and blessings ❤ 🙏
I’ve been using natural stuff such as vinegar, baking soda for cleaning and corn starch in place of baby powder
I NEVER run out of vinegar at my house. Use it for everything from lime scale to windows. But I’ve never heard of Dawn degreaser I’m definitely looking for some of that next time I’m at Menards! Thanks, Renee!
They do have it there! Saw it today but didn’t know how good this stuff is…going back ASAP! 😅
White vinegar and blue Dawn are so good! I mix them in a bottle and use them to clean my cookstove top on the greasy spots.

I’ve known about white vinegar for years but the Dawn Heavy Duty Degreaser sounds amazing. I can’t wait to find it and try it!
That's what everyone is now telling me......how did I not know this!!?? 😳
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Renee, be careful if you have granite! Vinegar is a big no no on granite! Do not let it get on there. 😳
I use a handle scrubber filled with vinegar and Dawn to clean my bathroom! They are both excellent cleaners.
Awesome degreaser from Dollar Tree works great on so many things.
Renee thankyou for being so real ...love it.
I use napisan to degrease my hood works really well.
I’ve learned so much from this video. Going to get some dawn degreaser right now. Thank you.
Yes. I’ve done the vinegar in a baggie around the faucet for years
I've also got a stovetop hood and have tried many degreasers that are on the market.
To degrease, you can make a past with dish soap and baking soda. Amazing on my kitchen cabinet.
