Thanks for your videos. I find them helpful. I have a 2023 Thor Tranquility and it seems almost identical to your van. Question…on this video of the water pump area there is a white plastic supply line connected to the intake side of the water pump. Do you know what it does? We are in British Columbia and the winter has been very mild so we decided to un-winterize the van so we can go camping. This white hose was sucking air into the system so I couldn’t get the air out of the lines. I removed the hose and capped it off and now it’s working properly. Please let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

I’m not 100% certain what that hose does. It doesn’t show up on any schematic. My best theory is it is the recirculating hose for the shower miser. I have a similar experience from last spring and it was making the water pump constantly run with this air slurping sound. Shower has two controls. One is the hot and cold knobs but there is also a second control that is a small metal looking lever that goes right or left but isn’t labeled. One direction recirculates water and the other direction allows it to spray. I moved my lever the opposite way and the sucking of air quit. Might be worth a shot to try with hose reattached. That was my best guess with mine. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for helping me figure out what the white hose is. You were correct. It is the recirculating line for the shower.

@bruceboswell3526 Not a problem at all. Glad it helped

Hi, I thought that the heater could not be used when the van/lines were winterized as the heater is reliant on water for its operation? From what you are saying in video, you can use heater in winter? If so what do I need to do? Thanks for a great video.

I’ve seen that in a lot of videos. Mine works fine empty. The hot air does heat the water as a bonus but it’s not the “water heater”. My settings are separate on the panel and if I select water heater on accident when it’s dry I get an error code. Selecting the furnace and desired air temp work without issue. Obviously verify in your own manual that it’s acceptable. I don’t know if there are different systems. Make sure you drain tanks completely and leave the tank open throughout winter. Mine was a yellow valve. It’s not recommended for antifreeze to be in tank. I feel like having a furnace that is dependent on water would be a horrible design in my area where we get -20F before the wind chill. Even though the air temp rises, the edges of the van behind the walls would allow water lines to freeze.

Mind me asking what you ended up paying for the van (minus anything outside of standard features?)
I keep being told by a few companies they are “willing to negotiate” - but trying to figure out real world price I should expect to pay or offer. Thanks!keep up the great videos.

I think that the advertised price back then was 144k or 138k, can’t remember for sure. MSRP was the same 180’s as now. We got down under 120k. You’re looking at a better market now though. Advertised price is 129k at General RV. You might go under 110k. The market you live in is going to play a big role though. I live near Indiana and I feel like some of the best Thor RV prices are around here.

I purchased a 2023 Thor Sanctuary PT from General RV (Mt Clemens) in July. I paid $89,900.

That’s an excellent price. Especially when you consider the selling price of an empty ford transit is around 65k. Was it new or used?

Brand new with only 300 miles.

@geekgurl64 that’s an awesome price all things considered. Especially the price of transit vans from the dealers. Nice find! I’ll make the drive there for that kind of pricing on the next van 🤣

Great video, but not really sure why you would need to blow air through the lines.

I only used the air through lines because I’m not using antifreeze. Except for the water pump. There are so many twists and turns in the plumbing that the air helps blow out the trapped pockets of water. If you use antifreeze through entire system, you don’t need the air.

I really enjoyed the video. Hoping you can give me some advice-I’m a full-time van lifer in my 2021 Thor sanctuary 19P. Planning on spending some of the winter in the mountains of Colorado and Utah. Is there any winterizing that I need to do if I’m going to be living in it full-time?

Our vans are not considered a true 4 season van. I can’t remember how it’s worded but I think it’s an “extended 3 season”. Our grey tanks are exposed to the cold, and while they do have heating pads, the drain valve is not heated. Even with antifreeze, my valve froze last winter, although once the sun came up, I could usually get pink cylinders to begin to slide out valve. Our fresh water tank and lines are internal and theoretically as long as inside is heated, shouldn’t freeze. They are located against the walls and floor though so there is the risk that the transfer of cold could freeze them in extreme cold. You could add more insulation around these items internally. Maybe add a space heater to direct warm air to the more stagnant areas like around fresh water tank with cabinet door open. You will still have that problem of a frozen dump valve outside to overcome. When we drove Route 66 in February, tanks remained dry and winterized and we used water bottles instead. Still used grey tank and just put extra antifreeze in it to help prevent it from becoming solid. You might just have to size it up as you go. Utah and Colorado are somewhat more temperate than where I live, so it might not be as big of an issue with valve freezing.

Hi, can I winterized water lines without power to pump by just using compressor to blow the lines? I have no power, interverter is dead, batteries dead, no power even with shore power or by driving van to try to charge. Please help, I just want to shut down the lines and deal with power issue later on.

    • @jtbrv23
      @jtbrv23  7 місяців тому

You will be able to blow out nearly all of your lines with an air compressor. The water pump and the supply lines around the pump will have water remaining. But everything else will get blown out. What do you suspect happened to the power? Tripped circuit breaker or detached wire?

I have had issues on and off for months with holding/recharging to varying degrees/intermittent so I don’t think it’s breaker or wiring. The breaker will not hold/stay in at all when plugged into shore/driving I think because the batteries are dead and needs a “reset”. I’ve had to do the reset before and problem is that you have to go through tech support with mastervolt who are good…but they only use “pc computers” and I don’t have a PC. Do you know how to reset the system without having to go through mastervolt. On my van 2022 when they built it I believe they disengaged the “reset” on the inverter bc they don’t want people using it. If you can help with how to do a reset without having to go through mastervolt this would be very much appreciated. It’s getting cold and I need to shut the water lines down. Our thor service centre now closed for the holidays.

@LisaLisa-xp3eo I’m not for certain how to do a full reset. The only thing I can think of is to remove its power source. But that comes with a risk since that cable would have electricity from the batteries. I would only remove that cable if your are comfortable messing with electricity.

Reply to self. I removed the cover from inverter and disconnected positive that goes to batteries for a few minutes then reconnected. This seemed to reset the inverter…yeah…so far relay is staying in….let’s see if now my arteries will charge and hold….

Glad it’s working! It’s like the old school WiFi router technique of unplugging it. Hopefully they can figure out what is causing this condition to reoccur. You can’t be disconnecting the power cable all the time.
