      @@katherinebrady6296 I think a lack of nutrition education among all fields of prenatal care is a terrible thing. I've had 8 children and the only nutritional information I got from my doctors was to take prenatal vitamins. I hope to be able to change that for the mothers under my care so I am taking nutrition class and doing a ton of independent study on top of my college classes.

      I did keto while pregnant with my baby. He was born at home. My midwife told me i had "super" milk. I only gained 20 lbs during pregnancy, which was appropriate for my current weight. My baby had a whole lot of vernix on him when he was born. My midwife said she had never seen so much. But the drawback for me was the small multiple meals instead of 2 or 3 regular sized meals. Caused hypoglycemia for me and now a year later i still struggle with it. And i didn't before. I did keto for a year before being pregnant. I think it would be easier to recover if i weren't breastfeeding. Anyway. I just thought I'd share my story with you, in case it helps you in your practice. Best of luck!

    I am SO glad I did Ketosis 1.5 years before I got pregnant! I had to go out of ketosis in my first trimester because of 24/7 nausea and intense food aversions but as soon as I was in my 2nd trimester and the nausea went away I went back to Ketosis and I feel 1000 times better!!!! I am 16 weeks and I feel like I am on track with nutrients for my baby. Ketosis makes pregnancy so much easier and I feel so much better. Highly recommend keto during pregnancy. be sure to use high quality food from local and organic sources. Current prenatal supplements: Iodine from Sea Kelp, LiveWise vitamin D3-K2, Dr. Berg's electrolyte powder, Garden of Life organic prenatal vitamin, Carlson cod liver oil, Mary Ruth's B complex, Paleo Organ meant capsule.

    I wish I had known this information almost 25 years ago when I started my pregnanies. My second child was born 13-1/2 months after my first and he has had extensive food allergies all his life. I have always wondered it was because my body was not recovered enough from the first pregnancy to be ready for the second. He is extraordinary and in his final year of a top professional architecture program. However, he eats a careful diet and we continue to monitor what food he needs for his optimal health. He is tall and has always been thin with low muscle density. Thankfully, he has a sharp mind and has a positive productive life. He always makes the most out of anything.

Little did I know that I had a major MAJOR vitamin and mineral deficiency and I was in the hospital while pregnant because of that. My body was so malnourished and I didn't have an appetite. I started digestive enzymes plus the brewers diet for pregnancy which reversed my cholestasis diagnosis.

    This is an excellent video. I do a lot of research and educating in this area. Most women have no idea how important it is to have your nutrition stores up prior to getting pregnant. And how we eat during pregnancy and breast feeding is also critical. Nina Planck wrote a great book on the topic. As did Sally Fallon. And pre natal vitamins are super toxic. It's important for pregnant women to eat liver, other organ meats, eggs, raw dairy, lots of butter and seafood. Also, Liver has four times the amount of Vitamin C as fruit. Leafy greens and fruit are not essential foods in pregnancy. Indigenous people who lived in cold regions and the desert did not have access to these foods during pregnancy and they were healthy. All of those vital nutrients can be obtained from animal foods.

    Amazing video as always. Thank you for all this info at a perfect timing as I am starting to prepare myself for my first pregnancy. I would have liked that you could have also included the amount needed while pregnant for each supplement you explained. The reason why I’m saying this is because I’m very confused about the amount of folic acid needed during pregnancy. In Europe, where I am from, they recommend 800mcg up to 1mg a day while pregnant. But here in the States, I can’t find a prenatal that has more than 600mcg. And the medical textbooks here that I have read recommend 400 mcg to 600mcg while pregnant. I am taking a food based prenatal that has 600mcg but it worries me that it won’t be enough for when I am pregnant.

    • @drumgunnist5090
      @drumgunnist5090 5 років тому +4

      If you care at all about your potential child which Im sure you do, you would not restrict any macronutrient or food group. Eat to craving, there's a reason women have them when pregnant. A baby's brain needs a constant stream of glucose to develop properly, preferably from dietary carbohydrates instead of gluceoneogenesis which is a stress response that increases stress hormones. The worst idea during pregnancy is to restrict your food. Dont guinea pig your child please.

    • @drumgunnist5090
      @drumgunnist5090 5 років тому +2

      @@20alphabet You're severely brainwashed by Dr. Berg who isnt even a real doctor by the way. There is one thing where people are gullible enough to think carb restriction = weightloss, health but to be so brain damaged as to tell pregnant women to restrict glucose that they will end up tearing down dietary protein and muscle tissue to get to maintain a stream of glucose needed for a child's brain development anyway thats pretty hard to come by. Its hard to imagine I use to be a hardcore ketoer.

      I would consult a midwife about it. And I suggest getting a midwife or doula. Doctors are good for emergencies but not for delivering babies.
