A new episode of the Ultimate DeathWorld is coming this friday again (jan 13). The next (and penultimate) episode #31 will liekly be scheduled for jan 20, followed by the grand finale 2 weeks thereafter. Next to that, I'll try to get episodes of this current "100% evolution" start series out every monday. Now we're nearing the end of the main series, the episodes seem to naturally get longer and longer, and also a little more complex to produce, and I want to finish it off properly. So, don't take this as a fixed upload schedule, but rather as my expectations/estimations at this current moment.
Playing the game is one thing- but also being a video editor and entertainer are equally as hard; your efforts are greatly appreciated! Wonderful stuff you’ve been doing, you got a long term fan out of me 😊
Small tip: if you're nervous about accidentally crafting something then you can change keybinds. When I did this I used ctrl-alt-shift-click to craft something and that sure wasn't going to happen by accident.
For the Lazy Bastard achievement you can forbid yourself crafting at all, using /permissions command and changing "default" permission and unchecking "craft".
Your crafting setup is quite satisfying, especially with that lighted sidewalk. 32:30 Flamethrowers are usually great, but when I discovered a behemoth biter can gnaw through 2 walls while being on fire, I realized their shortcomings for this environment. But I’m surprised you don’t seem interested in rockets - the tech is pretty easy to obtain, and I find their range and precision to be perfect for sniping nests and even behemoth worms. Of course then you have to be ready for the counterattacks, but your mega-turret-block tactic should do nicely for that. Great episode!
Yeah, usually when you start seeing behemoths, you have 6 or so damage upgrades on you flamethrowers, those make all the difference. I thought about rockets, deemed them too slow. Killing behemoths with red ammo is quite expensive, so ideally I lure the initial group, then rush in and destroy the nests before too many new guys spawn.
I'm loving this series! Really good work man, you actually inspired me to try a speedrun of Factorio and get 100% achievements for the game, so thanks for putting in so much effort to bring such entertaining content :)
Hi! Thanks for the new video- I love being able to listen rather than read! One thing though, there's a typo in the title of this one! Aqcuiring -> Acquiring ^^ Sorry if it's already been pointed out, or if it's rude of me!
have to say, i quite like this format. i'll always love the highly edited & polished little diamonds you do with other series, but this is a nice way to get out a lot of run time with less effort for smaller or less logistically detailed runs. have you considered playing any factorio mods or overhauls, or other games in general? i can imagine you've got a backlog of ideas, curious what's comin next... love the stuff mike, thanks for these :)
Mines are great for the 1 second stun effect, that is one second a biter isnt eating your turrets, keeping them in place. it's also good for dealing with nests in a driveby kind of way. their use is situational but they might be good when you want to deal with the spawners asap to prevent another biter spawn.
31:34 - The worms calculate where to fire based on your velocity, which can go from 0 to full velocity instantly allowing you to jitter and avoid the attack which are (almost) always missing, but I haven't practiced enough yet to do it.
I am normally not a big commenter, but I saw a comment lamenting the style change. I for one, really appreciate being able to listen to the video while doing other things. I think that the newer videos share the same type of charm as before. Also do you do the voice overs live or in the editing? Sometimes you seem to know what is going to happen as if foreshadowing, but the mannerisms you have imply you are talking as things happen. If it is a mix, then good job at editing the cuts together.
I think the format of this series it's live commentary, he just knows the game so well that he knows how the biters will act. In his "death world" aka "woops all nests" series I'm sure the voice over is after the fact.
I didn't "change" style, I just added an additional series in a different style. The other series continues in its original style. This is live commentary, but recorded seperately from the video, so I can speed up video independant from if I'm speaking or not, it also allows me to slightly move voice audio to the front or back to fit around the music for example (That may be causing some feeling of foreshadowing perhaps, though the voice movement is never really significant)
I'm unsure how effective against behemoths they'll be, but I find poison grenades very good at clearing out biters from nests. You can overlap clouds to do massive damage, and you're completely unaffected if in a vehicle.
@Michael Hendriks go into console > /permissions > highlight your name & click on pencil icon > Scroll down alphabetic list to "Craft" and untick its box. Escape button to get back to the game.
Forget tanks. Nests are best busted with rockets while standing in front of a row of turrets you quickly run back behind when the swarm reacts to busted nest. Takes 3 rockets to bust a nest and the range is enough to safely dispatch big worms from afar. Might require some dancing for behemoth worms, but they're not targets of interests, you wanna bust nests first.
31:39 it's really more like playing co-op in bullethells, you're trying to dodge in small movements to save up screen space, but the enemy will randomly choose your friend and clutter everything up with bullets that could've been misdirected smarty
Gotta love that moment when you get a big lag spike and you know that it wasn’t random so you quickly check the map and, sure enough, there’s a big cloud of biters coming your way
Question: I just finished watching your ribbon world run and there you learned that loading science from one lab to another makes you lose science, up to 15-20% Is that still the case or did that get patched? The ribbon world run is 2 years old, so it may have been changed by now.
Yeah, it was patched. The only remaining issue is a tiny tiny rounding error whenever you're not producing enough power while researching, which only matters when you craft an exact amount of science packs to research a specific tech.
What I find funny about the "Lazy Bastard" achievement, is that to get it, you have to be anything but lazy. Just like creating automated systems in real life, the end user is the one who is able to be lazy, the engineer(s) building and programming the machines, not so much. XD
@@MichaelHendriks Even 16199 as I believe that the cursor can occasionally carry objects that do not occupie inventory. Love your work, can't wait to see the next video!
Since you're only really using copper for wire right now, if I were you I'd place a single assembler taking off the belt and insert it into 3 or 6 chests to save you some time setting up and filling assemblers
I really enjoyed the technical parts of this video even as my brain kept saying "You're stalling so you don't have to go on offense." :D How are you quickly adding and removing inventory from buildings? Is that a mod or is there a base game way to do that?
I was enjoying this series, but maybe it's not for me, if each episode is 30+ minutes of moving full inventories between chests and assemblers. Bring on the building!
See, and I don't mind that, because it's just so different from how I normally play as to be interesting unto itself to see how the planning of it goes.
There IS no wonder why, you're trying to take it out of context. The tanks we need soon enough, the pumps aren't expensive enough to worry about much, and they are very hard to come by if you don't have any on you, especially with lazy bastard, so I eliminate that possibility for the rest of the game here.
you take the plates out of the chest and move them 1 row back. that seems like a waste of time as they never even fill up the first row and even if the first one did fill up that would be 12 chest that would be more then you need till you to use more and it starts re fulling...and then at 12 chest IF you got that much the miners would stop and you would lower pollution some.
