  • Pete Sampras will go up against local favourite Xavier Malisse in a mouthwatering Optima Open final on Sunday at the Royal Zoute Tennis Club in Knokke-Heist. Despite flying into Belgium the previous day, 44-year-old Sampras quickly got up to speed and beat Thomas Enqvist 6-4, 7-6(3) in a high-quality first semi-final.

Enqvist looks like a combination of Chris Jericho and Tomas Berdych.

That's the one I still use, Im no one compared to Pete obviously but I don't get why he plays so slow nowadays. I've got his same age and I can easily play and train like when I was 25. In fact I still train with 25 year olds and they don't overplay me. I don't get it. He is even thinner than me.

@Martin Gimenez, don't you know how grueling it is to play world championship level tennis day in and day out for years on end ? I mean it's probably less detrimental with the technology and safety today, but they all suffer injuries and countless surgeries from such a toll on the body. I mean look at Jimmy Connors, he had 3 hip surgeries already and still plays! I can't even imagine the pain...
