Hope the owner was pleased that your inspection spotted some issues he probably didn't know about. Who whould have looked at the moisture readings UNDER that slide? Good find for the owner, and hope the dealer can fix it for him.
Great content again guys!!! I am hoping with these videos that the manufacturers and it's employees will concentrate harder on quality control. The first one that does, will triple their sales. Without trust, these business models with no quality control only leads one way, like we talked about on the phone the other evening. Keep it going guys!
I worked at a high-end airstream custom builder for 4+ yrs. We would completely rip & strip one down to the shell and subfloor. Completely rehab , insulate , seal and RE-seal , ( critical ) , re-wire , plumb , we did it all. Buck rivets included. New windows , a.c. , custom build to customers specs. Several very impressive creations fit for a magazine layout. I replaced axles , belly wrap , window seal , very in depth in each task. Yet , at the end of the day. 100k + on the low end. A couple , 150- 2ish. Beautiful indeed but , it's still a trailer. Towed on ( this killed me each rig we did ) trailer tires. Yes, run of the mill actual trailer tires. 100k and up towed on 4 cheap , trailer tires. We had one come back on delivery day. Had a blowout 40 miles away. Tore up the belly , some fender area damage , and replaced the blowout with , drum roll.... Another standard trailer tire. Some people have the money to satisfy their tastes. Others don't.
Looking forward to inspect a custom 33 footer Airstream that a pilot acquaintance of ours is awaiting to get delivered this fall ...we'll keep you posted for sure 😁
Great video...Manufacturers in any industry are questionable in 2023 and have been for some years now. All the more reason for the need of an inspection even when new!
I think you have a great system with one focusing on the outside and the other on the inside. There is less chance of missing something due to fatigue or needing to rush to finish up. As for your inspection today, I think the rollers are just dragging.......worrisome to see evidence of water intrusion in the floor of the slide. Seeing some concerns about Newmar's quality slipping after their acquisition.
I was disappointed also 😔 Customer contacted us to let us know they had already set up an appointment at the Nappanee Indiana plant for August 😁 smart decision 👍 👌 🤙
Great video guys! I learn so much with each inspection. 😀 Pierre, On a more personal note, I noticed in your replies to some comments that you are still dealing with the fungal sinusitis for 7 weeks now. I am a recently retired physician at the age of 56. May I ask you a question? .....have you seen an ENT? Sometimes additional treatment is needed besides steroids and antifungal meds. I don't mean to pry, just hoping all is well. 🙂 Keep the videos coming and take care!🤙🙂 Sandy
Thanks for your concern Sandy ! Just went yesterday to get another shot and anti crap for the next 10 days and actually already feel the difference this morning. Thanks for the in on a ENT tho 😘
Not surprised at all with the findings. The fact that both of you inspect is a definite plus in my opinion. Men and women have different priorities and the pair of you are the best of both worlds.
Customer actually kept us posted. Going to Nappanee IN directly to the plant this coming August with appointment and report forwarded to them 😁 we'll definitely follow up
FACTS! Really bad the owner of the unit in this video didn't do the inspection FIRST. I feel sorry for what they're likely going to have to deal with at this point with the dealer. Side Note: In Vegas people causing the casinos monetary losses from certain gamblers' prowess can get them blacklisted. I wonder if you guys are getting blacklisted from dealers yet? Keep up the great work!
🤣🤣🤣 oh we are threatened... fear is a factor dealership don't know how to handle yet. Our customers still have the upper hand as to go shopping wherever they want if they're favorite friend going to inspect their unit, is not allowed on site.. how can they legally kick us out 😆 🤙 Our customers typically call us "their team" coming to inspect 🤣 they do not mention our names 🤙
Great video. I love that model but the wife found it to compact inside. Looking toward a Kountry Start 3709 as a move up in the future. I worry about the full wall slide outs. Some brands with full wall slides switched from hydraulic to Schwintek around 2013-2014 and it was a disaster. I wanted a 2012 Suncruiser 32H but the full wall slide had me worried so I went in another direction.
The majority of certified NRVIA inspectors work solo. You seem to imply that they aren't as good as two inspectors working together, since it's mentioned often.
Personal preference or situation awareness 🤔 ? You make your own conclusions! Some are performing an awesome job as a solo artist I'm sure...if you had a choice 😀 what would you do? I had to perform a couple on my own because of unpredictable situations...I had to take a day and a half to perform what WE want and consider our full-blown inspection tasks. BTW I'm really old and 🐌 slow 🤣
@@blueoxontherun9188 obviously you have your personal preferences but it's not necessary to disparage inspectors, doing the same thing you are, just because they don't have someone to work with. They got the same training, do the same reports and are running a business just as you are. If people think they'll get less of an inspection because it's one person, that's misleading, in my opinion. There are bad inspectors, of course, but not because they work alone. If a job is too big for them, they should pass on it, in my opinion.
I bet you are a wonderful, great person and awesome inspector as well. I wasn't trying to be condescending of any inspectors, team or solo... sorry you take this somewhat offensive and targeted at you or other of your " fellow" inspector acquaintances. We can only wish you the best in your endeavors 🤙
Nope...not at all 🤣 Just went to the Urgent Care here in LA this morning. Got stab with steroids and given anti crap for infection 🙃. Haven't been able to shake it off totally after 7 weeks 😪...I'll be happy to come back to normal. But thanks for thinking about me 🤣
Newmar has a crazy way to put slides in and out. They have you move the slides before you level the RV. I think that is crazy. But what do I know? My Winnebago procedure is level first.
@@blueoxontherun9188 Well, it happenned to me when I was working for an RV manufacturer: they lost control of a brand new travel trailer when unloading it from the big trailer used by the transporter. There were many holes in the body, they did rough patches then put stickers over them... A few months later, the customer who bought the trailer was noticing that its tires were wearing unevenly, an RV repair shop told him that the cause of the problem was that the trailer frame was crooked: the guy was in "Beau Tabarnak"...
Sadly, none of the larger manufactured coaches appear to be worth it and only seem to get worse with age. It's in the qulaity process and the fact that they make money by the type of items they install in the coaches and in the manufacturing process. Some have discovered that a 10+ yr old Newell or Prevost conversion (must also consider the converter) is far superior in quality to a brand new mass produced motorcoach like a Newmar, Tiffin, Entegra or anything made by Thor.
But Thor shouldn't even make your list of potential quality brands. Thor is truly throwaway quality in my opinion and for the experienced rv'ers I know.
Kind of surprised to see the alignment issues with the slides being that it’s a Newmar. However, the fact that Laurel didn’t find anything significant inside definitely speaks to their quality. Laurel, why do you get a sandwich and Pierre only gets a cup of coffee!? 😛
🤣🤣 I couldn't keep nothing much down anyway from fighting that infection 🤣 You are right about the quality of craftsmanship inside is typical of Newmar normally! Did you get your unit Barry?

I’m guessing these things are hugely expensive. The build quality is crap from what I can see. Design and material use is not up to par for a unit being used and driven long miles in wet conditions. Slide outs are wonderful idea but the mechanics are not quite there yet.
