I was in the crowd in front of that tower in the middle. There were so many people packed in that when the crowd started jumping you were lifted off your feet and jumping too whether you were trying to or not.... an amazing experience that I've never encountered before or since.
Korn I think was the biggest reason why what was considered capable to be at the top of popular music completely changed the way artists felt they could approach music without selling out to make money. Artistic freedom was proven to be able to make an impact without the blueprint followed forever in music to be successful.❤
A little back story. I hadn’t heard many of Korns songs at all and grew up in the 90’s. Wasn’t much of a fan of the radio songs. Fast forward 20+ years and just watched Woodstock 99 doc on Netflix. I got fascinated with them after that. They are going to grab a Lot of attention after that documentary and gain new fans after all these years. I even looked up other Woodstock 99 concerts to see if anyone matched their energy. No one held a candle. I would have paid to go and see this concert and it would have been worth every penny. They were electrifying. Can’t believe I’m so pumped about them after all these years. Wow. Check out shoots and ladders live.
I didn't know there was a doc of this! I'll have to look for it. I remember being almost 18 when this performance was happening and BEGGING my parents to let me go. Now that I'm 40 there is no way in hell I would have let barely 18 year old me go either.
I was there in that crowd. It will never be done exactly like this again. No distraction pre cell phone pre social media just people with people and it was hot 90 degrees every day no shade dirty amazing i was 19 now im 41 and still with the person I went with.
DannymikReacts I lived in the area growing up and was 12 years old when this all went down. Too young to go, but it was a big deal for the area. I could hear the bass of the bands playing from my house 10+ miles away. Anyways, it wasn’t until the next night when the organizers thought it would be a good idea to give everyone candles to celebrate peace or something. By this point, after days of 90+ degree weather on a asphalt tarmac (this was held at a huge air force base with no trees or shade), people were running ragged. Water and food was overpriced and sanitation was an insufficient mess with naked and drugged up people literally throwing shit at each other in small ponds of literal mud and shit from overturned porta potties. There was a ton of pent up anger with how things were being handled and lots of aggression ready to explode. Anyways, by the time the Chilli Peppers got on stage Sunday night (with a butt ass naked Flea I might add), people had already started to tear down parts of the stage and destroy and loot the food vending carts. The Chilli Peppers ended up doing a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Fire and that’s when the crowd started using their candles to light any and everything they could on fire. Basically it turned into a scene from Apocalypse Now with massive fires raging intermingling throughout the grounds with people dancing around them like they were Tom Hanks from Castaway. Any semblance of law and order was completely gone by now. I remember MTV who was televising the entire festival on PPV, packed up and got the fuck outta there ...along with all the other people who hadn’t joined in on the riot who also got out. The national guard had to be called in that night and the festival was put to an end for all intents and purposes before it was scheduled to finish. The next morning the festival grounds looked like a war zone and our local leaders were shook. The festival is pretty infamous here locally for the mess that it ended up being. Our local leaders were touting the festival as an economic boon for our community and it basically went the exact opposite of what they had promised us. Nationally it got tons of coverage for all the bad things and it’s often referred to as “The day the 90s died.” Let’s just say this festival was something else. Definitely epic and something like this we won’t be seeing ever again.
Things started turning bad when Limp Bizkit took the stage. They didn't really do anything wrong but they didn't do anything to help keep the crowd calm either. The fans began to tear up the stage.
Richard Sarabia bruh, Metallica and Rage Against The Machine came up after their set. It didn’t matter if Limp even played - people were already angry. And this was only Saturday!
Man. I could have been at this! My buddies and I got tickets are were going to drive up from Florida. Then my butt head of a friend got himself locked up and he was the only one with a car that would make it. We almost didn't bail him out. Since you mentioned wanting to watch other clips from that show, here is my personal favorite. It's Red Hot Chili Peppers doing "Sir Psycho Sexy." Warning: If you watch this one, you'll see Flea, the bassists, wang. He told the lead singer just before they went on that he was thinking about doing the show naked. Anthony was like, "Go for it dude." That's one of the most punk things I've ever heard. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Sir Psycho Sexy - 7/25/1999 - Woodstock 99 ua-cam.com/video/mtPhA0Io9mk/v-deo.html As a side thought, perhaps you'd like to check out some stuff from the original Woodstock in '69. I was -9, but I've watched and/or listened to every bit that I could find. Video is nonexistent for some of it. I've linked one of my favorite performances below, audio only. It's Joe Cocker doing, "Feeling Alright." You can't see him, but you can dang sure feel him. Feelin' Alright (Live At Woodstock 1969) ua-cam.com/video/WVGVrQkGGVU/v-deo.html Have a nice day all.
This was an awesome reaction, I'm a new fan of ur channel, I just started binge watching this morning! Lol Have you heard of Avenged Sevenfold.. they're a very talented rock/metal band. If you could, you should listen to the song Higher by them! Or Not Ready To Die. They wrote that song for Call Of Duty Black Ops on the zombie map Call Of The Dead. Hope you check it out 🤘🤞🤞💕
Well man Woodstock 99 wasn't all fun (I wasn't there but I did a lot of research on it I was like 4 years old at that time lol). From heat exhausted ppl, to overpriced food and water, and overfilling portable restrooms. As you progress through all the videos you watch a fun big crowd turn into a violent scary dark crowd that eventually turned into a riot. There was almost constant sexual assaults throughout which is even caught on tape that kinda disgusted me personally. This festival got really ugly
Korn is without a doubt top 3 bands I've ever heard live. They're phenomenal
I have a friend who would very much agree with you
Same! Even tho I can’t remember the whole thing I know the beginning was badass
Live. Absolutely. They are so fucking good live. The energy is just something else
I can't count how many Korn concerts I've been to but Korn and Tool have to be two of my favorite live bands (for different reasons).
Agreed they have been my favorite concert they fucking kick ass live flawless man
I remember watching this on TV in 1999. Change my life.
I have heard seeing KORN live can be life altering
@@GTReactions I've seen them live several times and YES. Even to this day they still put on killer shows decades later. They never disappoint.
It was amazing to see. Still is.
Korn is one of the top bands ever! Still going strong almost 30 years!
I have a friend who would agree with you 100%
