When I saw the video I immediately thought “wait till Cindy sees this!” I wasn’t very keen on the new Parafolk design at the beginning but I’ve fallen in love with it now, it’s such a lovely vibe and a great mix of cartoonish and realistic!
Same for me, but then I realized that it's not the final design. They care a lot about feedback, because it's their passion project. So I'm sure they will tweak things here and there. Only the general art style will stay the way it is now, so realistic proportioned paras with hand drawn details. I'm pretty sure they will fine tune everything before release. Just look at how different the paras looked in each update to another 😌
I just noticed when they showed the height slider on Sebastian there was a reference to Eli's height!! I wonder if they're gonna make it so that each para in the household will be referenced when you use the height slider so you can more easily fine tune heights in relation to the other paras??
I hope they add an exact number to it like how they have the measurement for walls labeled with the real world measurement (including the measurement layed out in bananas) would make it much easier for making real people since tons of people do that in games with character creators including me like most recently I made one of my favorite cosplayers in the Sims 4 and having the height slider mod I wished for an exact number rather than guesstimating how tall they needed to be for if I decided to add another real person to the game.

That's a top compliment for TS2 & TS4! I hate how TS3 looks, (though I tolerate it) but I think this looks nice. The older footage I saw got me worried this would look like a Roblox game, but it's clearly improved since then.

I've rewatched the paramaker video probably about 10 times. The interaction between sebastian and his son just warms my little heart! And I can't wait to see their genetics system!!
The different sliders and realistic body types really gets me excited to start making Paras in this game. Being able to give them different postures is insane too. I really want to make some of them in all shapes and sizes, and a different tab for identity makes me think we could even explore some more beyond binary identities. The love and detail sunk into Paralives right now is so exciting!
Up until now I honestly haven't been that interested in Paralives...but this has totally changed my mind! They look amazing. I love the style and I think a whole world with these folk will truly look beautiful. I am imaging cool coffee shops and truly interesting looking parafolk walking around.

This game really has me wishing I knew how to time travel. Everything about it is so charming and you can really tell that the developers have put their hearts into it!
i absolutely LOVE the weight distribution on the paras. the sims 3 and 4 have catered to a very specific type of Plus-Sized Body, but not all bigger people look like that. i've never been able to recreate my family exactly. my mom isn't a pear shape, but that's what the sims team think is the only way a fat person can be fat. hell, i'm a bigger person, and i'm an hourglass shape. the paralives team have spent a lot of time on the paramaker and paid attention to details i didn't think we'd ever see in a life simulator game. this is really a labor of love. i can't wait to see what kind of gameplay paralives will have. i'm willing to wait however long it takes, because i know they're going to get it right.
oh, just realized that the eye presets seem to have the eyelids in different places, which was one of my worries when the first video came out showcasing the new para art style! i hope the one on the bottom that we can't see is a monolid preset.
Honestly all this customization options actually sell me so much more on this game's art style I just cannot wait for the game to release bc like, holy if there is going to be as many CC as in the sims i will love it
I love the more realistic body types (and the fact that the program has one basic body model, Charlie, who can be feminine, masculine, or anything in between). I also think that the graphics are beautiful and will age better than realistic ones - I've been playing computer games for long enough to see 'realistic graphics' slide right into the uncanny valley several times.
Like that on the hight slider you see the hight of other family members to compare. I have wanted to make a realistic version of my short self since the Sims 2!
I kinda hope that when they fully finish the paramaker they release a demo of just that. Because it looks like they are really close compared to how long it will probably take for them to actually finish the full game. Also, if they out it on a higher tier of patreon, like behind a $10 paywall (or even $15) then it'll help them a lot. Plus I'm sure so many people would be willing to pay for just paramaker while they wait for the rest, more than the number of people willing to pay monthly for updates on the game development.
For a pre-alpha, the character maker is looking *revolutionary* 0-0 Imagine when CC/mods are added??? The possibilities are absolutely endless with this level of detail. I'm excited for what's to come
I am losing my MIND. In the Sims, I'm a CAS fiend. I LOVE making sims look a certain way and I'll download any CC that gets me there. The Para maker looks amazing, I can already imagine all the Paras I'm going to spend hours making and I'm so freaking excited. The developers are doing a solid job so far!! We get to watch them build from the foundation up, and what a strong foundation it is 👏
I like to think that this people that say "i don't believe this game is being made" is actually so amazed by the game that it's unbelievable to them. I myself I am in loooooove with all the features they have been releasing, I can't believe someone is actually making them!!

I love the Scar feature for the face. My husband has a pretty big one on his forehead and I would finally accurately be able to recreate him. Plus freckles and tats.
I’d love it if they did scars on different parts of the body, I have an appendectomy scar so it would be interesting to create a parafolk with one as well

I wonder if the Parafolks would look higher while wearing high heels. In the Sims, the legs become shorter but they don't look higher than Sims not wearing them. I am very excited about the height. I can't imagine the amount of work to all the different animations required. I hope there will be a program to increase the create a style options because there are very few. But I guess the Create a Parafolk can't be perfect.
I absolutely ADORE this, I love how there's no gender and instead you choose the body type, i love how when you adjust Sebastian's height you can see on the scale how tall his kid is, that's so awesome!!!! and the level of customization, I'm blown away!!!!!!!!! also this artstyle is truly my favorite thing, it's so adorable and cozy and sweet and the perfect blend of cartoony and realistic, I love it! can't believe this is pre-alpha, it's already so good, I can't even imagine how awesome it's gonna be when it's ready
Maybe it's a me problem, but life-sim type games that look too realistic feel uncomfortable lol so I love the style of the Parafolk! They're cartoony enough to look unique but realistic enough so that it still feels real, in a way. I hope Paralives will be the new City Skylines and make EA do better next time, this game looks really promising! The only thing that worries me is how they'll handle interaction animations, both with objects and with other Parafolk, due to all the different heights they'll be able to have. I'm sure that, since they're implementing the slider in the first place they have a solution in mind, but it does make me wonder how they'll make all possible interactions work.
City Skylines didn't make EA do better, though. There hasn't been any Sim City games since 2013 and we don't know if there will ever be an actually good Sim City game again. I don't expect anything from The Sims, with or without competition.
I think they're using something called "procedural animation". Look it up and you will understand. It's really fluid and totally different from ts4 animation so that's not a problem at all in this game
That's a cool feature! Also when making the height of siblings. Like if I wanted to make me and my sibling I could reference that to kinda make the height differences accurate, or make sure my twin boys are the same height, etc.
"I don't want to compare it to the sims" We have nothing else to compare it to. This is the only other game that fits into the same genre. The people behind paralives must know that they're going to be compared to sims. Honestly, I'd say that's a good thing. It might give EA the kick up the a** they need, if their community moves on to a better product.
I have a feeling that the creators are actually simmers who were/are fed up when S4 got released and they thought "we can do better!" - and yes! So far it looks so much more fun than the latest sims game so I hope it'll be the game we all wish to see and play! Can't wait for it!

It seems to me that in the last Paralives update you did, a lot of people knocked on the art style, but after seeing this and seeing the attention to little details... wow, I wouldn't care if it was stick drawing art (altho im very very glad its not)! The highlights and shadows, the freckles and moles, the variety of attire, THE COLOR WHEEL... the little details are getting me pumped!
It just makes me want to create a para RIGHT NOW! Like, for me, it's perfect and I can only see it getting better. One thing that really gets me excited is the idle animations and how smooth and NATURAL the animations look so far.

The way the Parafolk look reminds me of that branch off of anime/manga realism style(?) with a watercolour feel. I'm in love, and I cannot wait to try out a new and different life simulation game.
I think this is awesome. I actually kind of like the cartoony style it fits my aesthetic more.. however i understand that, that isn't everyone's bag. I will be excited to get to learn how to make CC for this game.. I have a few ideas for it. I don't mod but i do like to make custom clothing, objects, paintings, wall paper and flooring. from time to time. I think the reason people think that they are not really making it is because it has changed styles a couple times and the videos are done in a way that you can't really tell if that is actual features or just a video animation they made to look like it is actually features in the game.. People been using videogames to scam people for a while now and some of the things set off red flags for some people.. Scammers have ruined it kind of for legitimate people and it is sad. I personally am optimistic which is rare for me. I am in their discord and actually have been part of their patreon off and on for a while now. The only thing i am worried about is them taking on more than they can chew, if ya know what i mean.
i really hope they release a paramaker beta to the public or even just to patreon so that we can create our paras, save them and share the,. The sims 4 did that and i loved it.
I was never a huge advocate for height sliders bc I didn't think it was that important but dayummmm having different heights adds SO MUCH REALISM to the game and makes the characters look so much more unique!!! So looking forward to this game
I don't know if you noticed this or not, but when she sneezed, I realized that our sims can't do that in game. Right off the bat, it is going to be more realistic than the Sims.
I do like it very much. It looks life a solid game, considering this is pre alpha. I hope the team is working at an even and healthy pace! Love what I'm seeing here and I have a lot of optimism for Paralives being a huge shakeup in the industry.

I feel like you can see a little more detail in the parafolk than you do in Sims 4 I noticed that this is our first time seeing the parafolk interact with one another even though one of them is a child I could just tell this game is going to be dope, I just hope the game play will be good
I love it because it's the main reason I still play Sims 2, there was SO much care in the little things and I'm glad Paralives is bringing that in. I know it's too early to say, but it gives me so much hope for gameplay.

Finally a game where you can change the height! I hate how teens in sims 4 are the same height as adults or just the lack of variety in height for the sims.

At first I was little worried how awkward the animations might be for height differences cause in a lot of MMORPGs where you can interact with other players, a short and tall avatar hugging or high fiving will look awkward / clip ( perfect world, star wars galaxies, and some FFXIV emotes you gotta position yourself juuuust right to make it look believable ) so my heart is with these game devs as they attempt to rig all animations for height differences!

I love that they look cartoony, when a videogame looks too realistic it gives me uncanny valley feels.
They also don't age well. Stylized games tend to age a bit better. Fortunately mods can create their own ultra realistic for those interested in it.

You can do postures in the Sims 4 as well. Turn the sim to the side and there's a slider along the spine. Although some slider mods may override it.

That's a cool feature! Also when making the height of siblings. Like if I wanted to make me and my sibling I could reference that to kinda make the height differences accurate, or make sure my twin boys are the same height, etc.
I really enjoy the art style. It is different and I appreciate that. Glad to see the progress.

We have nothing else to compare it to. This is the only other game that fits into the same genre.
The people behind paralives must know that they're going to be compared to sims.
Honestly, I'd say that's a good thing. It might give EA the kick up the a** they need, if their community moves on to a better product.
I have a feeling that the creators are actually simmers who were/are fed up when S4 got released and they thought "we can do better!" - and yes! So far it looks so much more fun than the latest sims game so I hope it'll be the game we all wish to see and play! Can't wait for it!

I didn't notice this before but there's sections for teeth and scars as well?!! I can hardly take it. Tooth gaps, crooked teeth, scarring??? In the base game(potentially)????? I'm losing it over here

It seems to me that in the last Paralives update you did, a lot of people knocked on the art style, but after seeing this and seeing the attention to little details... wow, I wouldn't care if it was stick drawing art (altho im very very glad its not)! The highlights and shadows, the freckles and moles, the variety of attire, THE COLOR WHEEL... the little details are getting me pumped!
I also hate comparing. But man... this is like Sims 4 and Sims 3 combined but better. I'M SO EXCITED 😭😭❤

It just makes me want to create a para RIGHT NOW! Like, for me, it's perfect and I can only see it getting better. One thing that really gets me excited is the idle animations and how smooth and NATURAL the animations look so far.

The way the Parafolk look reminds me of that branch off of anime/manga realism style(?) with a watercolour feel. I'm in love, and I cannot wait to try out a new and different life simulation game.
It looks very interesting, I love the cartoon/sketchbook style.
I think this is awesome. I actually kind of like the cartoony style it fits my aesthetic more.. however i understand that, that isn't everyone's bag. I will be excited to get to learn how to make CC for this game.. I have a few ideas for it. I don't mod but i do like to make custom clothing, objects, paintings, wall paper and flooring. from time to time.
I think the reason people think that they are not really making it is because it has changed styles a couple times and the videos are done in a way that you can't really tell if that is actual features or just a video animation they made to look like it is actually features in the game.. People been using videogames to scam people for a while now and some of the things set off red flags for some people..
Scammers have ruined it kind of for legitimate people and it is sad.
I personally am optimistic which is rare for me. I am in their discord and actually have been part of their patreon off and on for a while now. The only thing i am worried about is them taking on more than they can chew, if ya know what i mean.
I can not wait to see what cc creators will bring to the game! This PAM is impressive and more than I had expected.
i really hope they release a paramaker beta to the public or even just to patreon so that we can create our paras, save them and share the,. The sims 4 did that and i loved it.

I was never a huge advocate for height sliders bc I didn't think it was that important but dayummmm having different heights adds SO MUCH REALISM to the game and makes the characters look so much more unique!!! So looking forward to this game
I don't know if you noticed this or not, but when she sneezed, I realized that our sims can't do that in game. Right off the bat, it is going to be more realistic than the Sims.
I really love it. My only worried is how Paras looks, but every time I watch them I like them more! Also as you said, probably we will have CC skins.
I do like it very much. It looks life a solid game, considering this is pre alpha. I hope the team is working at an even and healthy pace! Love what I'm seeing here and I have a lot of optimism for Paralives being a huge shakeup in the industry.

Seeing that you can place and enlarge the mole everywhere you want, I am so amused hdbdbd bc I am a person with a mole on the brow and I couldn't make my literal self in the sims lol

I feel like you can see a little more detail in the parafolk than you do in Sims 4
I noticed that this is our first time seeing the parafolk interact with one another even though one of them is a child I could just tell this game is going to be dope, I just hope the game play will be good

I love it because it's the main reason I still play Sims 2, there was SO much care in the little things and I'm glad Paralives is bringing that in. I know it's too early to say, but it gives me so much hope for gameplay.

Finally a game where you can change the height! I hate how teens in sims 4 are the same height as adults or just the lack of variety in height for the sims.

This is such an exciting update! The height slider makes me wonder how they're going to make animations/interactions work between Paras of different heights.

After the way pet coats were designed in both The Sims3 and The Sims4, I'm still not seeing customizable tattoos (eg. text for name tattoos)...
i’m hoping that aging will be more gradual rather than instant aging! like you could set a final appearance or something and the kid grows up to it!!!
I couldn't agree more they should age just like humans forming wrinkles and gray hair and if their in a constant stress they age and look older than their actually age

Maybe you can, they included both a masculine and a feminine frame for the same Para, so gender didn't seem to limit the customization level...

This is what the sims needs, competition. I’ll happily try paralives, it looks like it will be amazing. Love the building video they did and the paramaker looks amazing too.
At first I was little worried how awkward the animations might be for height differences cause in a lot of MMORPGs where you can interact with other players, a short and tall avatar hugging or high fiving will look awkward / clip ( perfect world, star wars galaxies, and some FFXIV emotes you gotta position yourself juuuust right to make it look believable ) so my heart is with these game devs as they attempt to rig all animations for height differences!
I personally love the way they have a lot of blush on their face, I think it's cute. Maybe that's because I'm a weeb though lol.
