In this video I will provide you with what I consider to be the easiest way to calculate the length of a hip roof framing ridge during the framing and assembly process for home building. Keep learning and let us know in the comment area how much you enjoyed the video.
easy way to do it , run your ridge long on the hip side, then put the rafter up and draw the line, cut it in place
Great knowledge ❤

My question: if you’re building on a slope, is the concrete under the house will be flat throughout the entire house or are there “steps” concrete as you go up?
das ist sehr hilfreich 🙏🙏🙏
I was going use this information to build a 16x16 pavilion.
I know most of your construction information is about homes, but I’m trying to figure out how to make the center vented / raised for a air circulation when I mount a fan under side. Making a shingle roof
Email me a picture of your design.
What is your Email address’?
Excellent info
Glad you think so!
If the 24' length and 24' deep are the same would the ridge length be 1 1/2 feet, Thanks
Thanks for sharing...how would I calculate the height of the roof?? Please explain I'm a student watching from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬
if you doing 12/12 pitch, and your outside to outside wall is 10 foot, your run will be 5 foot for the rafter and you'll also be 5 foot high for the ridge board (plus or minus a very litttle bit)
👍
I need complit calculation for hip roofting
Why sometimes the plan and actual connot correct,?
I'm wondering why there is no columns in the middle to support the roof in this configuration
I didn't see a need for them, but larger building with snow loads might need additional support.
The size of house i build,, 16 ft front,, and 18 how to calculate
You also forgot gables I'm pretty sure...
