I anchored a 2x at the fixed center hight and the fixed top of the wall ... of the ground floor walls.... shifted the joint until I liked it.... more than 20 years later.. I am still living under that roof, and I still like it.

Thanks for the video. I am building my 10x10 shed and when I make my barn-style layout and make the gambrel 2 feet tall, the end 2x4 are cut so angled that there is not enough meat to mount them on my wall layout. Is there a fix to this?

If you already cut the rafters, then email me a picture, if not then you might need larger lumber for rafters.

Thank you for the video, here is my problem, i want to build a 12x16 shed with a gambrel roof for storage however the building needs to not exceed 10 feet in height. How could o calculate this? I believe the building would be close to 15 feet tall with 8 foot walls. I thought maybe using 6 foot walls but that still doesnt get me under 10 feet. Any suggestions please?

You will need to figure out the roof height first, then subtract it from the maximum height to figure out the wall height.

You know, in my opinion there is no uglier roof than a gambrel. Hardly anyone gets the angles and proportions right and the interior space is just awkward to use and furnish. Plus, doing the air and vapor sealing properly and insulating it is a nightmare. If you want a second story, build a full second floor.
