You heard it here folks...Greg says size doesn't matter lol. Good advice. It makes sense. I just wish I cud prevent the brush from fraying. I try not to use acetone but sometimes I need to help the acrylic out of my brush with a tool. I think this may aid in the fraying too. Ughhh it's so frustrating. Thanks for the advice.

Use monomer to clean your brush, l use monomer l don't like, yes acetone strips the coating that's on the hairs to stop the acrylic sticking so you are making things worse by using acetone, honestly try monomer that conditions your brush too.

Thank you so much for confirming this. When I started doing nails I started with a very tiny brush,as I got better I was able to pick up a large bead with a small 6 . I thought I'd initially need a bigger brush and I ended up getting the 12 but I was able to get those larger beads and do full overlays on short nails with the 6.

I just tried young nails for the first time and I’m BLOWN AWAY. I just started nail school so I’ve been using the crappy stuff that comes with the kit... but today I finally tried the monomer, core pink powder, and the artistic sculptor brush. Wow it was so much easier to work with. I feel like a bigger brush would be easier to work with though, so I just ordered Greg’s brush.

  • @erin8000uk

Yes it does matter if you want to pick up the right bead you would rather have 8 than a bigger size putting the bead will be easier especially if your just starting out to get used to it then it doesn't matter really what size the brush is it's only till you get the hang of doing nails

My artistic sculpt is my fav brush of all time. I bought 2 pro kits just to get them cause I was told they were discontinued then found out it’s supposed to be the sculptor. When I got the sculptor it was really frayed. I tried to train it with monomer but I’ve never been able to use it. It’s been like a year and I never contacted customer service etc. but what I want is a brush like the one in the pro kits with long, stiff bristles. 8, 9, 12, doesn’t matter the size, I just want the bristles to be long and stiff instead of wide and bushy without buying another whole pro kit. I giveaway the items in the kit besides the brush etc. can you help advise me what to do? Also is Greg’s signature the same as the pro kit ones but larger? Are the bristles long and firm? Help!! Lol! I’ve spent hundreds of $$ on other name brand brushes and they aren’t IT.

@@youngnailsinc thank you so much for the prompt response! I’ve watched this video already in my search and it’s not the info I’m seeking. 🤗
The sequence of events is this. I bought a core pro kit few years ago. Taught myself to do nails with that brush it included. It’s still in pristine condition. Nothing else compares. It’s my favorite so I want more/spares.
Ive tried larger brushes from other brands. Nothing, nothing was the same as the one I got in my core kit. I can get as large a bead as I want with that brush so I decided why go larger?
So I wanted to buy another of the same brush from you guys. My kit brush had no markings on it besides YN on the wood handle so I checked the website and bought the “artistic sculptor” as it looked the closest. As soon as I got it I realized that wasn’t it. Plus it was frayed looking and shaped very differently.
So I emailed you guys to ask the name of the brush that came in your pro kits so I could buy one separately. Answer was twofold. They aren’t sold any other way, only available in kits and also “discontinued” anyway. So since I couldn’t get another one, I went back to the website and chose the “pro acrylic sculptor”. Same thing happened. It came badly frayed. And training didn’t solve it. Leaves lines in the acrylic cause the bristles are varied in length on the end and sticking out even with twirling on table towel, soaking, all the ways I treat and love my other brush. Training to a point or trying to flatten also didn’t work.
I didn’t reach out or complain (and I am not complaining now) I just kept using my favorite brush and keeping it perfect.
So the next time you guys had a flash sale on your pro kits I pulled the trigger and ordered a pro speed instead of core hoping for THE BRUSH, lol! My reasoning was most beginners chose the core like I did so the probability of me getting that brush in a kit would be better if I bought the speed, thinking even if it’s discontinued I could reasonably hope I would get a kit that still had that brush in it before it had been discontinued.
Regardless your products are bomb so can’t lose with a kit.
So I got that kit and sure enough my FAV brush was in there! But it was frayed too. And it came with a loose ferrule. Not nearly as bad as the two sculptors but still not useable unless I trim those 4 or 5 frayed hairs off which you’re not supposed to do and keep tightening the metal *I can send pics if y’all want to see what I mean.
So now I’m considering getting Greg’s signature brush as it looks as if the bristles are also long and firm. Not like a Kiara Sky, for example, that is fat and wide at ferrule and has too much give at tip even tho it’s great quality. If you’re experienced you know exactly what I mean I’m sure.
So really what I’m searching to learn is 3 things:
      1. Without buying the kit can I get that brush same or larger? Because none of the ones on website are the same. They simply aren’t.
      2. Does Greg’s signature brush have long, firm bristles like the kit one, just more bristles making it larger or is it wider at ferrule?
      3. If I buy Greg’s or another kit to get the golden brush I want and it isn’t the same I will give up and continue to treasure and baby mine, but will I be able to return either and get money back?
Quick disclaimer here. I am not dissatisfied in any way. I’m not complaining. Just explaining the situation and trying to get the brushes I want. This is in no way meant to be annoying or bash y’all at all. I love Young Nails. I’m a loyal customer even if I buy on Amazon mostly. Hats off to all of you and your pioneering work. 💜
Let me know if I should email some pics or how to proceed. The reason I didn’t email instead of messaging here is because when I did email what I got was basically a “no” you can’t get one and I felt misinformed since the brush wasn’t discontinued and was supposed to be the sculptor which is available but actually not the same brush. So I didn’t want to go that route again.
I understand this is a lot and y’all are busy but I appreciate ANY help or advice or guidance on how to get that magical brush. I would just flat out buy 5 probably to avoid ever worrying again lol! I’ve even been messaging other UA-cam nail techs who are buying and reviewing the pro kits asking to buy their brushes if they don’t want them. Lol!
I would like to send pics of how my brushes came and get advice what to do about them.
Maybe there is a fix idk about.
      Ty Ty Ty!
      Jen

@@getnails_byjen2726 If you bought the pro kits a few years ago then the brush that was in them was the artistic sculptor which is sold by itself now. The current brush in the kits is not the same as that anymore and is not sold by itself.
Greg's brush would be more similar to the artistic sculptor than the brush that is currently in the kits.

Hi, I recently started working at a new salon and have been doing nails for 14 years. I've always used a size 20 or 24 brush and have had no issues, but my boss is telling me that I am not allowed to use my brush and need a smaller brush only because he feels that my work would be messy(Which it never has) due to having a bigger brush they have only moved me to doing pedicures. My questions are does my brush size really matter, and should I change the size if I am not comfortable with using a smaller brush? What are the pros and cons of using a bigger or smaller brush?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 роки тому

That's definitely a challenge! If you are comfortable with the larger brush and do good/clean work with it, there shouldn't be any reason for you to have to use a smaller brush. Even with a larger brush, you can control how much product you pick up with the amount of liquid you leave in your brush. With that said, a 20-24 is a pretty large brush and one downside to it may be that you are using more product/monomer than necessary in your application or if you are getting the monomer on the client's skin, this can be unsafe and cause skin reactions.
You may want to have a conversation with your boss to see exactly why they want you to use a smaller brush and if you can show them you can work safely with the larger brush, they may allow it.

Depends but definitely don't go smaller than a number 9 even though we suggest the brush that works best for you! www.youngnails.com/yni-artistic-sculptor/

Does the powder make a difference?

Powder does make a difference. Some brands create a greater thermal reaction then ours. We offer 2 different types of powders (speed and core) that set differently check this video out that explains it: ua-cam.com/video/0lw0PC4jppU/v-deo.html

I ordered the artistic sculpture a few weeks ago but just haven’t used it yet because I found a larger brush I don’t even know the size in my salon and I made myself use it I use to be scared to! But I still think I’m using to much liquid.

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  4 роки тому

Remember the amount of liquid in the brush matters a lot more than the size for control! You can control that amount!

Great video ! Are the size 8 and your signature series brush made with the same hairs ? I live In Australian and am a nail tech , the price of the two brush are very different and would love to get yours Greg but wow it’s really expensive just wondering why such a difference in Price ? It can’t be just the size ??? I usually use ezyflow oval 8 . Stay safe and again keep the great content going 🌺🐨

To some extent size does matter, there is only so much liquid a smaller brush can hold as compare to a bigger brush, a small brush however can pick up a large bead as the amount of liquid it can fully hold will allow it to. So in conclusion a large brush will definitely pick up a larger bead over one that is smaller even if the smaller brush is filled to capacity with liquid, the larger brush capacity obviously will be higher, however not that a smaller brush cant pick up a large bead. So to agree and disagree with young nails, the amount of liquid that the brush can pick up matters a great deal in agreement, but to disagree where the size of the brush determines the amount of liquid that it can hold being as I mentioned a bigger brush would automatically hold larger amounts of liquid compared to a smaller brush. So I would say you can still experiment with different sizes as that's the reason there are different sizes in the first place if one size really does all then there would definitely be no need for various brush sizing. But if you know how to work with what you have already and try to work with it's capacity and it allows you to pick up a big enough bead as it allows then that's perfect also.
