I couldn't help myself, we got another car that just needed to be saved. 1990 Hyundai Scoupe. tell me, when was the last time you seen one on the road?
I got introduced to the Scoupe via Top Gear in their 17 y/o challenge. I love the Scoupe, it's a shame that it's such a rare car..heck, even the little Accents in the background are rare where I live!
If someone had have told me years ago I'd fall in love with a 97 corolla I would have told them they were crazy. I just got one and I love it. I'm now getting exited about a Hyundai s coupe. The world has officially gone mad!. or maybe it's just me 🤣🤣 Great vid guys 👍👍
Good on you Byron. The only early Hyundai's I ever remember where the bubble shaped excels - still see one on the road every now and again which is surprising as I thought they would only last a few years
I worked at Skipper Hyundai back in 1992. Drove plenty of these factory fresh. Quite zippy especially in manual form. Love your content… keep up the great work mate 👍🏽👍🏽
Not many of these little ones kicking about anymore, good to see this nice example being taken care of & hopefully can be saved. And sure has been a while since i've seen one too, will be good to see it on the road again at some point if possible.
I wasn't expecting the plot twists! Early Hyundais are so bad, they're good. 👌 Can't wait to see more of the yellow nugget, and hats off to Byron for his work on this project.
YESSS, So glad you saved this little gem DJ. There was an orange one the front cover of fast 4s and rotaries or one of them mags in december 99. Check it out! Good looking car I reckon. Anyone who turns thier nose up at this little beast isn't a true car enthusiast. Love it.
I actually saw one on the road about 4 days ago and i said to myself "i literally have not seen one in 15 years"! I remember seeing turbo versions as well. They are actually a pretty cool shape i reckon.
we called them a scoop because of how they put the "S" right next to the "coupe". These car have one of the smallest turbos i ever seen on a car stateside.
My wife’s first car. And was exactly the same just manual. After nearly 20 years needing a lot of work finally sold it just over 12 months ago for $300… no where to store it at the time really 😢
G'day, that Car is a little gem, are you going to keep it or flip it can't wait to find out more information about this project, always entertaining, thanks mate, also happy new year, cheers, Neil 🤠.
I remember one of those in balga in 2008 when i was a kid. last saw it in 2009. A saw a few in demo derbys witch i guess it was what it was but i do like the Scoop. The one i saw in 2009 was JUST like this. I wonder but doubt its the same onw :) Glad you saved it :D going by the blue rego sticker i say last on road 2009 so i dont think it was the one i saw 2 minutes in. I think blue rego sticker was 2007
Well you can mold shit into a cupcake if you want , but its still shit. Just my personal opinion. Never had a hyundai , never likely to. Hows the Pacer going.

Yes I think a lot of people have forgotten about this long enough for people to appreciate again! Not to mention anything to relieve your youth!
Love the yellow scoupe nugget content. Great fun!

Friend of mine had a all white one that was factory turbocharged. In Perth.
I haven't seen any nuggety little 90s coupes in years. These and Lancer coupes used to be everywhere bitd.
I think the heat and the flies are getting to ya DJ. Gotta hand it to you though, your turd polishing skills are coming along in leaps and bounds.
Happy New Year guys! Top vid!
I used to work on these new. All drivetrain parts used to come covered in rust from Hyundai. Fun times.
Haha the golden days of hyundai manufacturing. Dont make them like they use too lol.
