I'm level 43 and I believe my final build will be power 7, driving accuracy 8, driving control 7, approach accuracy 8, approach control 8, approach recovery 0, short game accuracy 8, short game control 8, short game recovery 8, and putting 4. However if driving control doesn't affect finesse shots at all I might subtract my 7 driving control to have 0, subtract 1 approach accuracy to have 7, subtract 1 putting to have 3 and then put those points into another power so I can have 8 instead of 7. I feel like approach recovery isn't needed at all when your power drive goes at least 315.
@@II_Th3oRy_II I’m only at 39 right now, but I’m actually headed kinda towards what you are saying. I’ve never put anything into driving control. I haven’t really had any problem controlling drives. I’ve been prioritizing Approach and Short game, especially accuracy and control. I put enough into power to get power drive. I think I have 3 in putting and I’ll likely leave it there for now. I’ve heard so many people saying it will be capped at 50, but some of the pros in-game have stats that have to be well above that. Is EA gonna do it like they have in other sports games like Madden where they cap level at 50 for awhile and then open it up to higher?
@@DrMetalpin I believe 50 is the cap. The specs that you can buy for your different clubs and ball help increase your overall. I saw someone who was either a level 44 or 45 and he was already a 97 overall because he has specs for each type of clubs and ball. Right now I'm a 90 overall and I still have 14 more skill points to earn and I still need a legendary spec for my wedges so I should be able to reach around a 99 overall.
How are you accumulating all of those coins?? Does career mode pay well? I haven't even started career just been doing challenges and only have like 10k coins.
One of the coolest things, that I don’t really hear anyone talking about, is that despite the EA game only having an initial release of 30 courses available to play…the consistent improvement of our golfer’s skills will make playing these courses just “that much more exhilarating”…I‘be gotta say that this “ramping” of levels will be some of the most exciting mechanics in a golf game that we have seen in a long time. Loving the content, Zane! Keep up the great work, man!
One of my best moments in the game so far was that Cobra challenge. Almost impossible at my level to get close to that pin at the time, but after 10 attempts, hit the pin mid flight with a 5 wood and stopped it dead. Loving the progession in this game, I don't even want to get to max level, might get boring, enjoying the challenge and the grind.
Finesse is one shot type I use on probably half the holes. With finesse you're able to hit in between the standard club distances. Extremely useful IMO.
I have to Finesse all the time but my problem is, if I'm shooting for the green over 200yds, its impossible to stop, it always rolls off the green no matter how much spin I put on it.. I need to get specs (I have none) but I suck and tournaments sound like they'd be too hard for me..
To be fair with the hack shot its finally nice to be able to spin it out the rough seen and done it plenty of times, also i’ve heard a few golfers in interviews on golf channels and even podcasts say that most rough is just long fairway its only a couple courses with bermuda rough that really affects distance and spin, so im not too miffed about the current rough lie percentage.
Won’t have the game for a few days yet, but I can see after watching Zane’s video, I’m going to be throwing all my points early into control & accuracy. I did max it out but still a good amount of roll out and I’m not sure if there’s something else I should be doing to get the ball to stop faster. Dude can I ask you are you able to change your swing styles. I can change my swing animation but not my swing style. Just wondering is this a bug or is it locked once your golfer is created.
When working the ball left or right on Tour mode, you have to swing the analog stick on an angle. I know in career mode you can choose shot shaping "off", but will we be able to do it when playing online?
Thanks for your time, I got a ? can you start from scratch, I made a new player but it kept all my challenges that I completed in my first player stats
I will say that, in my opinion at least, driving accuracy is huge for par 3s. It's something not really talked about but unless you use finesse off the tee you're using your driving stats rather than your approach stats
I've actually started using the blast shot a lot more than the pick now that i understand it more. Pick is great when it's downhill obviously. What I'm not clear about is how much difference the different specs make. It's rocketed my overall up but I've not seen that difference on the course. Really weird that there isn't a spec for putting and having a recovery spec for a driver for example.
Maybe I need to circle back around to it. Before it just made me want to chuck my controller. I've been diving pretty deep into specs, hoping in the next few days to have something out.

Long irons onto the green will always roll aggressively. I look for those lucky chances where the hole is close to the bottom of the green (aka the nearest part of the green from where you are shooting). In those cases, I aim a high finesse shot to drop a couple yards before the green to first hit on the fairway. This way, the 1 bounce on the fairway dramatically reduces the speed of the roll and the ball ends up slowly bouncing/rolling onto the green and stopping. You might have to draw or fade as well to get the right angle to the hole. If the hole is on the top or furthest part of the green.. it's really hard to stop on the green even with a high shot. Only thing you can do is aggressively change the roll mid air to the opposite direction of the hole, but still.. balls like to jump out and it is frustrating lol
Have a comment for algorithm goodness! Also I've been pushing Approach and Short Game very hard, severely lacking Driving and Power currently, will probably refund some points to up the Power a bit.
Does driving control affect finesse shots? Because I almost never use the drive shot unless it's the driver. If it doesn't affect finesse shots then I probably shouldn't put any points into driving control then.
Finesse shots are under approach. Drive shots generate more spin and are able to be lofted more. If you are looking for more stopping power off the tee, use drive and not finesse. If you only want to use finesse and have the ball roll more, put approach control up.
@@MoreRespawn for some reason I thought finesse shots had more spin to it. The symbol for it even looks like backspin. So I would always use a finesse shot because I thought it had more backspin and it had a smaller dispersions area.
I thought the same at beginning because the name is "finesse", but if you check the badge, it says " A versatile shot that can target a wider variety of distances than Approach, but has less spin and more roll".
It seems to be recovered. Also, anything you completed, you should get rewards for. Servers were overloaded and backlogged but they should come through.
@red H The hardest part of the game is the long approach shots trying to stop on the green. High wind rounds also. Other than that once you get power drive and good accuracy ratings it's pretty hard to miss fairways and you are likely within 120 yards on most par 4s or around the green in 2 on a par 5. Even if you do miss the fairways most of the time the lie is still close to 100. With good recovery a flop shot or a pick shot out of the sand is damn near automatic close to the pin. I like to use the pitch or blast shot to make it more fun. I struggled with the 60 degree finesse shots judging the spin but figured out you can move the 50 or 54 degree wedge a good range and that makes those shots easier. Putting is pretty easy. I have been playing hard swing/ putt difficulty tour settings for awhile. Wind is my issue. I shot 19 under after 2 rounds in the pga championship with 4-7 mph winds. I shot 10 over the 3rd round with 20 plus mph winds. Game is very different then. :)

Can someone explain the dispersion zone, because the ball seems to always fly way past it. I will club down two clubs, and still fly over the green. I do not understand it.
@@sfreem14 I think it is the elevation, ive been more conscious of that and clubing down more. Can someone explain how i should correctly adjust for elevation, and tempo??
@@CedricQuartey a good starting point for the elevation would be to add/subtract 1 yard of distance per 3 feet of elevation change +/-. If the green is above then add distance, if the green is below subtract the distance. This is how it works in PGA 2k23, so this may not be 100% accurate, so you may need to lessen it. As far as tempo goes, the closer you get to perfect timing the more accurate the shot is going to be. So if you hit a shot fast/slow that could potentially add/subtract distance to your shots.
I believe that is all based on where you are placed in the tourney. If you are first to tee off, you will be morning and if you are in first or close to the top you will have a late tee off.

I do not like this RPG style golf. The player should be able to swing and flop if desired without having to spend points to access an ability. Its a dumb mechanic IMO. No other sports game makes this horrible decision. Imagine basketball where you cant drinble down court without apending points, or swimging a bat to bunt without points. Its really lame and why 2k23 wins the generation. Graphics dont make a good game.
The more accurate analogy would be the ability to perform moves like crossovers, hesitations and spins which in real life you do not know how to do when you start to play basketball.. everyone knows how to dribble a ball up and down a court.

Your skill points are all jacked up.
Is anyone else having problems with their challenges since the patch not one of mine work anymore, not end of world but it’s quite frustrating
Is the game playing ok now? Last time I looked…you still wasn’t getting your rewards for doing challenges?
Love your work dude 👍🏻
It seems to be recovered. Also, anything you completed, you should get rewards for. Servers were overloaded and backlogged but they should come through.
I feel the game got pretty easy after I got my player to 85. The game is pretty fun around 80 rating.
How please tell me
@red H The hardest part of the game is the long approach shots trying to stop on the green. :)
@ghtraining1 I'm level 32, and I've unlocked certain items using the green in-game currency points. However, the hat, a few shirts, sweatshirts, club head covers, pants, etc. aren't appearing in my inventory. Purchased under the Pro Pass category. Also, the rectangle box that appears above the quests on the right isn't working. The icon just spins, and I can't use the square button to view anything. Any help would be appreciated.
I just got apperal with xp points. I haven't used anything else.
Can someone explain the dispersion zone, because the ball seems to always fly way past it. I will club down two clubs, and still fly over the green. I do not understand it.
Are you getting your tempo and distance right? Could also be wind or elevation related.
@@sfreem14 okay thank you so much, I will try this out and make adjustments accordingly!
Have you figured out why in your career mode every round looks like it’s in the early morning or dusk? I hate it lol
the lack of dynamic weather is disappointing.
I believe that is all based on where you are placed in the tourney. If you are first to tee off, you will be morning and if you are in first or close to the top you will have a late tee off.
@@MoreRespawn man I hate that lol
@@justinpearson3696 You’d hate real life golf if this annoys you, and its such a silly thing to be annoyed about
@@n0body550 I love real golf lol. This has nothing to do with real golf lol. Like my man said dynamic weather is a thing. Not every round looking like it’s 7:30pm at the masters lol
I love this game been playing it for a long time but I can putt for shit!!!! It pisses me off
The putting in the ga,e is shit even with the lines on its hard to tell the speed and break its dog shit.
How 15 years ago was I able to take a selfish of myself and make my golfer look exactly like me by uploading it bingo the game, yet somehow the newest golf game they've made, has so few available ways to change your golfers appearance?
This game just keeps letting me down.
I have the pick shot, but it goes off to the left or right often for no apparent reason. Really bugs me…
Watching a great video and not leaving a like is like walking in to a shop and not paying for the goods. There is a charge for these videos and it's 1 like. If you didn't do that, you have not paid your dues. Good video. Thanks.
Don’t owe him shit. Ho
Little bit long for a video but so useful to know. I hadn't even touched the control aspects thinking they weren't as useful without using post shot spin etc! Great video overall
That Texas Wedge sucks 🤣
Is liv 40 max level ??
50. I got some more points coming my way.
ea sports PGA TOUR its to slow, its kind of like playing behind Patrick Cantlay !!
Its just not though its literal golf pace, maybe lay off the cocaine bro
Imo the roll is still too much compared to real life!
Dude how u have so many points
He grinds the game.
How have you got so many reward points fml
Do any of you actually hit the crooks in real life? This is fantasy land. Its fun and can teach you mechanics of the golf swing. But doesnt remotely substitute a Golf Pro lesson. I love golf. I love hockey. The 2 most expensive sports outside of NASCAR or F1. Im learining quit e a bit from Respawn in terms of the video game. But its no substiute for actual golf play. So in this vein GET YOUR ASSES ON THAT COURSE AND HIT SOME REAL BALLS
Do you actually play real golf? Just asking for a friend
Yes.
Putting is absoultly not good wtf is wrong with putting
Sorry but no one is buying this money grab game
I do not like this RPG style golf. The player should be able to swing and flop if desired without having to spend points to access an ability. Its a dumb mechanic IMO. No other sports game makes this horrible decision. Imagine basketball where you cant drinble down court without apending points, or swimging a bat to bunt without points. Its really lame and why 2k23 wins the generation. Graphics dont make a good game.
Dribbling down a court or swinging a bat would be equivalent to swinging a club in PGA 23, which you can definitely do.
Justin. Your take is just wrong, as in flat earth kinda stupid
The more accurate analogy would be the ability to perform moves like crossovers, hesitations and spins which in real life you do not know how to do when you start to play basketball.. everyone knows how to dribble a ball up and down a court.
This game just keeps letting me down.
