Kane really said "Double it and give it to the next person"
oh man u win

This comment is one of the best I've seen
😂
especially with maroon and evander having the moment before the game, this is a scary coincidence
@Adam O'Brien what are you talking about
And as of right now, you have 97 likes on your comment. Spooky.
Nothing scary about it. Calm down.
@@bobabooey4537 dumbass comment tbh
thankfully, that cut looks to be below the wrist, more towards the thumb. still gonna suck but at least this wasn't life threatening for the official🙏🏻
One of the main arteries to your hand goes basically down the inside of your arm and thumb. It's hard to tell but going frame by frame, I would say it was missed by about 1-2 cm.
Edit: and reading he got 10-12 stitches. He's a lucky guy.
Linesman got 12 stitches to his palm and was ok.
Man, those skates are SO sharp. It really looked like a bit of a nick, maybe a skin cut, but NO it's a fucking GASH.
The palms bleed really easily also a nasty place to get stitches I got 8 across my palm after having my glove knocked off and a player stepped on it
@@mattlololololol Nah you can see a red line immediately form on his palm from a far away camera, pretty obvious that it was a legit gash.
@@mattlolololololThey are not as sharp as speed skates quit being dramatic Look up speed skates that’s what I do way more scary then hockey

It's happening a lot more often
@@AC-ri2ph for sure
What are the odds another person gets cut with this matchup Jesus
Good because the lightning are a bunch of greasy snakes and shit snowballs when you make a dirty play like this hit from behind or like the slewfoot that directly led to kanes wrist being cut.

Looks like it took a few layers off vs a straight down slice. Hope he's okay.
what are the odds
Kane probably knows 😄

33 & 1/3% chance
ESPN coverage is absolutely brutal
Kane was nearly stepped on, he could've gotten cut way worse then. Thankfully the official didn't fall into the blade, looked more like the blade moved out of the way and knicked him
this seems so eerie
Bad luck following Kane everywhere

luckily it looked like it didnt hit an artery or anything bad. looked more on the hand then wrist
"tripping" after getting hit from behind
I totally missed this on the sportsnet broadcast.
I always thought refs should get a little more equipment for protection, especially for their hands. Maybe a glove or something
I don't know if the NHL level refs have additional clauses in their work contracts but refs in amateur leagues wear gloves fairly commonly, especially in arenas which don't have good heating or at exterior rinks.
These aren't speciality gloves, but just any layer of material to keep you warm and offer some protection vs bruising and slicing is better than nothing.
@@johndeere2525 Its a billion dollar league. Spear some change
I have been watching hockey for 25 years now...and im actually surprised that more cuts have not happened. I have seen so many scrums where a player is on the ice, with razor blades swinging by and stomping on the ice inches away from the face, throat, ankles, and wrists. And for the most part nothing serious has happened apart from some major incidents that i can count on my two hands. Padding helps alot but i remember kevin bieksa got cut with a skate right through his leg padding and cut his calf muscle i believe.
#request Can we get Vasy’s poke check on McDavid from last night? I think it was the second period.
Ironic how this the only the second time the bolts and oilers played and in both games a guy gets his wrist cut.
Hope he’s doing okay and it wasn’t serious
And Kane was involved in both.
2023 refs need to wear anticut gloves
S**t! God that sucks! I hope he’s okay.
Don't get how there aren't more cut incidents during scrums/fights and especially skate blades cutting off fingers. Just seems like it should be a more common occurrence when crazy happens. I had assumed maybe everyone is taught to fall without their hands open down on the ice or something.
Looks as tho many use their elbows first when getting up off the ice after a fight so that their hands/fingers arent whats pushing them up.. if that makes sense
@@shanewardesspeedwayvideosr8449 probably because their hands hurt from punching 👊
@@kielobnice1 i respectfully disagree with you
I ended up getting 5 interior and 25 exterior stiches when I took a skate to my thigh. Scary stuff, I hope he’s ok.
Kucherov could have got 10 penalties yesterday but they called nothin on him
sounds like a goth matchup
Tampa moans more than any other team about penalties & the refs listen to them everytime. It’s bs.
Yup. And even with nothing called, their coach was a total whinefest after the game. It was classic.
It's good that it wasn't his wrist but tbh the hands have so many blood vessles and it's really hard to stop bleeding from the hands and it's also hard to heal sometimes bc of how much we move and bend and stretch the skin of our hands. I hope he heals up quickly! The refs really need better protection on the ice.
How can Toronto interfere and call a tripping penalty on Kane but not call a penalty on kucherov?
Toronto knows best
Thats the real question
Because the league is a fucking joke. They only call things that resulted in an injury. Doesn't matter how dangerous a play is as long as the player didn't get hurt they don't care. Same goes for the Maroon slew foot on Mcdavid. He didn't get hurt so they don't look at it. They aren't in the business of preventative measures they are only reactionary to after an event.
Lol rent free
The original call was a match penalty on Kane for slew footing, they reviewed, then gave the lesser penalty of tripping. The way the ref announced it made it confusing.
Did I just do acid?
So ironic that Kane is involved
The linesmen should have gloves (regular gloves not hockey mitts) that are black and white striped with orange fingertips. Have them go up under the cuff of the sleeve with a long wrist.
A little warmth, a little protection, and easily identifiable hands when they are grabbing at players in a scrum.
These two teems have a history with this now
Maybe refs should wear gloves.
now the Kucherov have to kneel and apologize for making a hit against the black
That sucks for the zebra, and I'm sure Kane feels bad. Just trying to give a little extra to Kuch and end up hurting the linesman.
Seems like a soft Kevlar wrist band would be useful as PPE for officials.
What was the linesman’s arm up for initially? Doesn’t look offsides, linesman (at least in USA hockey) can only call majors and it looked to me like his arm was up before tripping/slew footing actually happened? Totally NOT judging, trying to learn!
Which linesman? If ylu mean the first who skated off its... pretty evident given he got cut
im tryna learn what u said can u dummy it down and i can help u understand
Wrist sleeves should Become mandatory For players and referees. Recently we have had wrist injuries in finland and wrist guards Are becoming More common.
No safety equipment should ever be mandatory. Neck guards mouth guards visors etc.
Would you fine a player for wearing 90’s shoulder pads instead of modern ones?? Of course not and the league/ teams shouldn’t be allowed to make you wear anything.
stop with the "mandatory" crap. these are adults, they can decide for themselves.
Damn 2nd time these 2 played someone gets cut 😬
Had the pleasure of being at that game!
i don't understand that no body saw the checking from behind? or is it the angle I'm seeing?
He looks a lot closer to the boards than he is
@@Deenaziamazinjg14 fair enough
@@kruofud he slid for atkeast two feet before hitting boards but I could see that call going either way especially if Kane didn’t trip him after!
Jesus stop letting these teams play each other 💀
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS TAPE YOUR WRISTS BEFORE STEPPING ON THE ICE.
I like how those goons lost.
Quick question did he finished the game? And if an referee get injured what happen do they have remplacements on site all the Time?
Didn’t finish, linesman finished game alone. Basically he stayed between the blue lines the rest of the game.
12 stitches
nice hit from behind from #86
Am a Tampa fan
If the Oilers and Lightning are playing each other, someone’s wrist is getting cut.
The unfortunate irony of this makes it go from one bad accident to two and a history with these teams.
Right call is coincental majors on Kane and Kucherov
Somebody call a nurse!! Oh wait...
This is just scary and creepy😮
Reasons why refs should also wear gloves
Man I hope the ref ok and heals son. Cut my hand in the kitchen a few weeks back with a sharp ass blade. And I'm sure we've all cut ourselves deep by accident. scary moment..
Guess nobody learned to wear wrist/arm protection after Kane's injury!
Well Kane learned
Maroon slew foots 2 oilers and nothing? I mean we can see where the league stands…
4:11 when did Seth McFarland become the coach for the Oilers?
Surprised kutcherov didn’t get a penalty as well
Poor linesman. No one cared except the former ref. Announcers were like ya he's cut now about that penalty.
never let these two teams play each other again for everyone's safety
I've never seen the hockey gods do something like this
When did the oilers hire Peter Brady?
These skate blades are deadly weapons, might have to ban them soon.
Now that I think about it why don't refs wear gloves?
Wow, I didnt see that when I watched. Lucky he didnt get his wrist.
I'm beginning to sense a pattern.
I’ve had this happen right across my wrist & could see my tendon, man it’s hard to watch this kinda shit lol
they should wear those thin cut proof gloves. glad he's not badly cut
How is that not a Checking From Behind or Interference on Kucherov?! I support neither team, I support NYR but most of all I wan't fair competetive hockey. But referees have ZERO accountability in the NHL and players/coaches get fined for speaking up. So there you have it....
Interference? Kane shot the puck as he hit him? Besides that I have no comment because not here to argue
They're getting dangerous with their skate blades!
The NHL is going to start requiring wrist guards.
Hate ESPN coverage. Their voice is louder than anything, not even an Edmonton fan but I know their building isn’t quiet.
Damn how sharp are these skates anyways!!
If memory serves the bladrs are usually about as sharp as a pro chefs knife or something. The skates are uncannily sharp.
They are knifes on shoes
They are metal blades.. so pretty sharp
go down to your local shop and pick up a pair! and while you're at it, find a learn-to-skate program in your area. it's a ton of fun!
@@DirtyDan77 I've been playing hockey since I was 4, but I like my skates at a particular sharpness that wouldn't decapitate someone lol
Such a dirty play by Kane… clearly that injury didn’t change his approach to safety
that is not a slew foot--just a trip
what comes around goes around? or something like that idk
I mean the hit kucherov threw was 6 inches from being a suspenable hit… and was a check to the number which is a penalty
Suspenable😂 you can check from behind if it's not crosscheck, charging or boarding. Learn the rules, buddy
Tous les arbitres devrait porter des gants protecteur !
Kinda odd that a linesman got cut. just a little ironic how Kane was Cut on his wrist bye the Lightings Patty Maroon couple months back and history kinda repeats itself just in a different way, just on a official 🤷🏼♂️…..Gotta Love Hockey. It is the best Pure Sport out of them all in my opinion.
That was less of a cut and more of a peel. Yikes
There are no coincidences. Kane just got back from getting his wrist cut.
That's the definition of a coincidence. What you're implying is someone had intent to hurt the ref.
The linesman got lucky it wasn’t worse, he’ll be fine after it heals in a few days
Now about that trip… how exactly was that not called for kicking ( 3:10 is the best replay I see) that should be a match, you have knives on your feet, YOU CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH A KICK
tons of nerves located in that area. he could easily be permanently compromised and definitely wont be fine after a few days.
@B H he probably will be fine in a few days when it starts to heal, not the same as before, but he's lucky it didn't cut more, where it would have essentially taken him out of the NHL for good, the scrape along instead of into the edge was lucky... now about the kick that needs to be a match 100% of the time
Watch it again yes Kane tripped but he also was bringing his leg forward to get up. Kucherov should have gotten a penalty for hitting from behind in Kane’s numbers. Then kane was attached by a lightning. Poor calls all night. moroon should have gotten two penalties when he tripped then slough footed then roughed up McDavid .
I'm amused by how no one notices that Kucherov's hit from behind would be a 5 minute major and a game misconduct if the refs went by the rulebook. I don't exactly blame them though because we really need a double minor or something for stuff like this.
@@Kristofburger he turned last second, you can’t call hit from behind when the skater turned while the hit is landing… but lets look at this, hit from behind vs kicking… when blades are on feet, I think one is way more severe than the other
This matchup is cursed
Kane should be in the european leagues. Jeez
the ref trips by himself skating in direction of Kucherov which is already down. That looks pretty ridiculous and easy to avoid.
5 mins for Kane
Cross check to the numbers is not a penalty?
How is that a cross check? Boarding maybe but his stick didn’t hit him lol and his stick wasn’t even in the position to cross check?
only 2 times these teams played each other and someone gets cut with a skate .in different cities even
Kucherov being a dirty player, wow never seen that before!

I wonder how many "slewfooting" match penalties Brad Marchand's been given in his career
