I checked the cruise I booked a couple months ago to see if the price was cheaper.. Not only was it not cheaper, it was considerably more! The Black Friday sales are just a sales gimmick but not a better deal for cruises.
It is pretty selective. I've found the same on most things including hotels. You have to hit the right combination of dates and place. They've all gotten very sophisticated in maximizing utilization/occupancy. The best we still think is to book as far in advance as possible, or with a lot of flexibility close in (inside of 90 days).
There is an annual fee. Depending upon which one you choose there are either 10 included (after that a fee for a visit) or the lowest price subscription has a fee with each visit (about $35) - they do have a plan which has unlimited as well for the annual fee. We like getting this included with a credit card and on those we've always gotten free access + guest if it is bundled with a credit card offer.
