- / roa_music1031rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't exactly proving universally popular. This is an unfortunate turn of events, as the pivot away from a tight single-player narrative to a broader, live service inspired multiplayer appears to be an attempt to make a game that appeals to everyone.
In various interviews, staff at Rocksteady have spoken about how Kill the Justice League is intended as a game to entertain groups of friends who enjoy playing with each other (while also bickering a fair amount and teasing each other). At the same time, Rocksteady developers have also described how they've tried to get as much of their familiar storytelling into the game as possible.
This balancing act is difficult to do in any game, and it's not a surprise that Rocksteady hasn't managed to make a game that wins over any given audience, with fans of live service titles feeling that cutscenes get in the way of the action, and fans of Rocksteady's Arkham games feeling like the magic has been diluted with a new focus on multiplayer, low-stakes gameplay.
Having filmed this video last week, I almost didn't finish it. I worried that the zeitgeist might have moved on beyond Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, I worried that my take wouldn't be well received and that my production values aren't great. I've got some new lights, and I'm still getting the hang of how to use them.

Ultimately I'm glad I persevered with this video. Even if it doesn't end up being hugely popular, I feel like this was a good learning opportunity for me personally, and I feel like I'm closer to understanding how to make the kinds of videos I want to make in future.

Silver lining: Because I’m so disinterested in Suicide Squad, I’ve started a replay of Arkham Asylum and it’s a fun nostalgia trip.
(Though if you’re enjoying Suicide Squad, then that’s cool too)

Two things: Bad gameplay and bad story.
Honeslty. This game has a lot of problems. The boss figths have interesting ideas but just feel plain stupid given how every preivous scene sets up how easily each hero can overpower the squad. The story is fine for the most part if a bit dumb, and the gameplay is fun enouph, but repetative as there isn't anything to spice it up/change or improve it past what you get at the start. Even hhe skill trees feel a bit tacked on as they don't really change how you play.
But if you ask me, most of the games issues stem from the decicion not to make this a live service, but a looter shooter. This was an incredibly bad decicion in my book for one reason. It made the game desgined around fighting the random enemies and minions. And NOT around the boss fights. And that's a huge issue.
This games combat systems and mechanics are NOT desgined for boss fights at ALL. It's desgined for frantic, chaotic shoot outs. Not boss fights against super powered indiivduals. They can't create interesting mehanics or gameplay moments, beacuse the whole thing is desinged around guns and moving from place to place and shooting things.
How would you make a boss fight against batman work? He's just a human being in a batsuit. He can't use his gadgets to disable our guns or we can't even fight. He can't sneak around and ambush us beacuse we have no means to counter that. He can't jump down and punch us, beacuse we have no melee combos or mechanics beyond the basic attack.
This extends to the whole game. Looter shooters generally don't have very good boss fights outside of borderlands and this game proves why.
Rather than building itslef around each characters unique gimmick and skll set, eveyone just shoots and gets around the city diffrently. THAT is a huge problem and explains why each boss fight feels so dumb. There is nothing they can acutally DO with this combat system.
Functionally, let's think about this. How is Joker going to play any diffrent to deathstroke? Or Mr/Nora Freeze in future content? He moves around the citty diffrently? What else? What is the point of new playable characters if they all play the same at the end of the day and don't have anything to truly make them unique comabt wise?
I clearly haven't watched this channel in a while. I was not prepared for FACE.
I honestly just think it's time to boycott everything WB until their leadership is ousted. Zaslav especially must go

I seen gameplay of the vid, cutscenes, and seems nice with a few kinks.
To me it strange to me because it has alot Justice League, the skins those characters parody don’t help.
I am not only a Pokemon, Bayonetta, Zelda but DC fan. Not rocksteady.
The game seems built for a 4-player game especially with some the fights and some the Arkham Series.
The game had it prime time to come out…
NGL I feel like speedrun thought games sometimes to keep up the time when I am most motivated to play is with others.
I rather play Splatoon with Friends than lonely Pokémon SV without DLC.

I am at a point in my life where I am unable and undesired to play video games online with friends for awhile. So as a huge Arkham fan I hate everything about this game. I'm not usually that guy but I won't even try this crap. Spider-Man continues the formula Arkham succeeded on and 2 was amazing (pun somewhat intended).

Suicide Squad just isn't a viable IP. It failed twice as a movie, and it's already failed as a video game. The fact that they literally pissed on Kevin Conroy's memory also didn't help.

I think you might be misremembering things, The first suicide squad movie did make a pretty penny back for WB, it's just that many people werent fans of the movie itself. The second movie is the inverse, but the loss in money could more than be attributed because of covid.
There is so much to love about this game, but my god there is far too much to not love.

Maybe that was 2010s for the superhero genres but now I believe the video game genre might come back in this decade instead of actual video games

- you forogt to mention how Sweet Baby Inc ''sanetized'' the game for a ''modern audience'' (themself)
and messed with every inch of the game characters and story wise which pushed a lot of D.E.I
- not to forget that the developers attacked the fans and people are tired of this so they avoid games like those
- it's by far over priced no one would pay that much for something like that
No one is really over super hero films.
We’re over badly written, agenda filled super hero stories that don’t respect canon.
