I was twenty and Robby was a mith for us, we learned very much looking at him. Now I'm 60 y.o. and still going with my boards, but still today with many young lions he remain the greatest of all times !
I’ve watched him grow up He is a true watermen MAD PROPS !!! I got my first sailboard a west wind in Fla 1980 then moved So Cal wave Sailing yeah !!! He always inspired me !!! MUCH LOVE 💕 💕💕
Being a prodigy helps figure out where to our your feet. Great guy. Helped me submit a board design to Iggy when his dad was out of the Kailua shop I said “is ____here?” Response, “no, will I do?”. Beat board I ever had. Forgot, he added “thin tail like Robby’s”
These video's from "back in the day" are interesting to watch because they show that the essential character of wndsrfng is playing and just screwing around. IMO, "these days", everyone is trying to 'go fast', 'go big', or 'go to the max!'... Windsurfing is such a blast. I try to go but where I live, during the summer, the "perma-breeze", 4-8 knots, kills it. Fair Winds!
I learned on a mistral board at 16....still go at 50 on my old school mistral competition...Robby Son of Poseidon...Prince of the Ocean...Legend.

What a flashback...in the late 80s it was just thrilling to see a real shortboard, it was a totally way of life, not a status like today...
thank you robby for all these years, thank, thank thank of france. thank.

Still have both videos on VHS
what an inspiration
Nobby Rash as we used to call him. We weren't jealous honest.
He is the King....
So is he putting his back foot in the front foot strap when he does the basic tack?
looks like an early to mid 1980's video, from the sails.
genius ever
There's next to no wind, yet he's squeezing out decent board speed. Meanwhile, the 2 mortals are bobbing away.
still cool !
Wow! Such antique gear! Almost comical...
great! anybody knows who made the first duck's jibe?
Angus Chater?
Ah this is great. I'm trying to figure out the heli...
His harness line is a bit of rope

After that I gave up on manoeuvers. Then came spocks and monkey jubes.
