- Building on Brilliant Basics from the Beachstart chapter will help you nail the waterstart. Clear that rig, lounge in the sweet spot and then get up and away :)

As said by others, there are many vids on YT about "how to windsurf", but yours, Mr. Hall, are the best ones!
Best windsurfing tutorials videos
Great instruction! The wind direction indicator on the bottom is really helpful!
Thanks best video i have seen so far
Because of Jemhall my rig doesnt have an uphaul rope🙌. Water starts all the way. Thanks Jemhall💪😉
wow, that is great, thanks for your kind words. Onwards and upwards for you mate :)
Hi ! Good learning stuff you made, but one thing i wonder, where in advanced learning chapter is a flotation vest ? As i windsurfing almost 40 yrs. made courses and rent a stuff, there is always rule nr.1 a wear a proper flotation vest. I seen too many accidents, where without flotation vest was very little hope to survive. Broken legs, mast hit a neck and knock down, extreme jump break a board and windsurfer was in many hours in sea. All this happend in very experienced windsurfers. And all ending well, because all they had a flotation vest. I had in courses some people and they said, in Hawaii windsurfers not wear any safety vest. Ok, that's looking cool, but then my answer is there a good reason why there not wear a flotation vest. If you are in high waves shorebreak, then you need sometimes to dive under the wave, if you have a safety vest you simply can't do that.
thanks for the tip on the exercise to get used to the motions with the back leg straight in the water. Very good!
Great video. As soon as I got the water-start down, my back went out. Great reviewing this to keep things fresh in mind until I'm back on the water. Feels like I'm almost there:)
hope you are back in the water now, sorry for the late reply ....
Thanks Jim! This video helped me figure what I was doing wrong! It figures that I would get into one of those odd positions the very first time I tried the water start! Lol! I love the wind direction and othe scales at the bottom of the videos!
Thank you Jem! I will be practicing next saturday.
GOOD TO HEAR, all the best for this :)
Ok so I got planing, (15 seconds several times) too much downwind, no straps, and 15 minutes practising the water start. Next time should be better :)
Thank's
Merci c est clairement la meilleure video sur le sujet !! 👍🤘🤙
thanks for the video helped me a lot took a 2 days of trying and now I'm water starting. Next for me will be carb gybe x
Excellent! Very helpful.
Good to get some proper coaching, I can water start but did so front foot first, I think it started with not getting enough mast foot pressure but will look forward to improving with proper technique. Come on wind
I had the same mistake
Good stuff
Thanks! After watching about 30 videos this is the one that registered! Lol!
This answers a lot of my questions... I've been trying to learn on my own, and couldn't figure out how to get the sail properly positioned, whenever it landed on the wrong side of the board :)
I'll be talking lessons this weekend, but want be able to get the sail out of the water, and stand on the board beforehand.
Great stuff, coach! Lovin' the cheesy music... no really ,seriously. Love John Rambo!
Fantastic!
Hi Jem! All your videos are fantastic and so helpful thank you so much!!
I am having trouble to figure out the whole planning and footstraps technique. I end up overpowered and eventually falling off. Have you got any video explaining that? I was keen to buy your dvd beginner to winner but haven't managed to find it in stock anywhere.
Super, thanks a lot.
perfect as usual
Good video! My only comments are that a front foot first technique can work too.
And watch that foot drag stuff at that beach in Kanaha as you will wack your shin on brain coral! :)
So advanced skill, can not get it for while my life.
who in their right mind would vote this video down?
any advice for bigger sails??
I have my rig.. I could hav3 done it.. Crappy job in a way... :/
