After my "UA-cam Outtakes" video, a few of you commented that I should show the thumbnail footage at the end of each video and that idea killllllllled me. SO WE'RE DOING IT. And I'm taking it one step farther by revealing some of the BIZARRE system for editing a thumbnail photo. I learned my amateur photoshop skills when friends asked me to edit their exes out of wedding photos. It has served me well. UA-cam thumbnails are interesting to me because you have ONE IMAGE and half of a second to pitch your video. My approach is to eliminate distractions, and make it as compositionally pleasing as possible, while still relaying the most important ideas of the video. Placing title text is always the trickiest part, IMO. Hope this is a fun peek behind the curtain. I love this BS🧡
Hi Caroline, once upon a time I was "in love" with my own version of a "street man". I was convinced he HAD to be married, or something was "wrong" with him. One day I was pulling onto the highway as he pulled into the neighborhood and I saw someone in the back seat. I was so bummed and embarrassed that I'd been crushing on someone who had a kid and was probably married to someone four times more beautiful than I could ever hope to be myself. Fast forward some months and we ended up meeting. The entity in the back of his heavily-tinted car was his dog (he laughs and asks how ugly I must have thought one of his kids would end up). We have been married for almost nine years now. There have been lots of tears and arguments and me wanting to kick him in the butt (and I know I'm not exactly a saint to live with either), but all-in-all, I bless the days our paths crossed, and then finally crossed for good. All that to say... I guess I don't know what. Just that I enjoyed hearing your glee, and how much it reminded me of the story of how I met my husband and father of my children. 🤗

Yeah, me too. I've noticed that lately when I'm struggling I watch youtube videos that I relate to or calm me down, some of them from women much younger than me. In the past, I used to re-watch TV shows. I'm not sure what explains this change.

Loved this video! You asking to keep the hospital gown was funny. While I was at the funeral home making arrangements after my mom's passing, I saw a beautiful urn which didn't look like an urn, it looked more like home decor. It was made out of Himalayan salt (like the salt lamps). I made a comment on how beautiful it was. The funeral director gave it to me. He even carried it out to my car and put it in the trunk. It weighs about 15 pounds because it's made out of the Himalayan salt. I'm so glad that magic was performed on your knee, and all went well. Take care of yourself.
This has been a fun vlog. I'm so happy that your knee surgery was a success and pain free. A fortnight before our first lockdown in 2020 I had a total knee replacement. Having had numerous knee surgeries over a forty year period I wasn't fazed. Until I came out from under anaesthetic. It was the single most painful experience of my entire life. More painful than childbirth. More painful than spinal fusion. It was agony. Take good care of your knees. Once they're messed up it just goes from bad to worse.
Oh my gosh I had no idea a replacement involved so much more pain, that sounds fairly traumatizing 😔❤️ how did you deal with soldiering through that painful period?
@@Caroline_Winkler Pain killers. Lots of pain killers. Lol. I think it depends on the extent of damage in your knee as to how painful it is. My orthopaedic surgeon said my knee was the worst he'd ever seen. When I was 28 I was told I needed knee replacement but I was too young. Eventually at age 64 I couldn't just keep walking through the pain etc. as there was really a lot of bone worn away by then.
I'm 4 weeks out from a total hip surgery and I watched the total knees being done with horror. My overnight hospital room buddy cried and moaned through her opioid haze all night. PT is tough for me but the knees battle a great deal more and for far longer.

Not long ago I got out of a 3 years relationship and I am living on the other side of the world far away from my family. I have to deal with so many things alone (even when I was in a relationship) Watching your videos makes me feel like I am not alone and I feel motivated to do more with my life. I wish you a quick recovery! You are amazing! P.S. quick way to select an object in photoshop: After you have your image ready, go to the top left menu bar click /select/, and then it will drop a menu, click /subject/ This will automatically select the main object in your image in a very accurate way. Then you can mask the layer so you have more control in case you want to touch up the selection. This will save you a lot of time :)
So great the surgery went well. A tip re the itchy feet... ordinary soap (cake or bar best) worked into a white paste with a little water, then rubbed onto the site of the bite, neutralises the insect poison. No more itch. No toothpaste needed, no mess... miracle.

I've been watching you for a week, like, non-stop, and I love your sass, your (sometimes just passively shining) sense of humour and the way you handle... just life and the whole journey of it. How pathetic is my life🤣🤣but now can’t imagine a weekend without your video! Our crazy, anxious minds are the same . Here are a couple thoughts I had during your video, love the sweatpants (cableknit look to them) glad you didn’t take the pain meds, love that your parents are so close that you can drive there, how blessed you are, why isn’t she sleeping, it’s 1:30, and she’s having surgery, oh that’s right she has to spiral first🤣🤣🤣it’s the beautiful, broken hot messes of the world that shine brightest, and it is light we are called to be! They are always tough, but it's great that you have such supportive friends and family to lean on during those times. Dude!!! I totally know the struggle and the relief from having one of your tree trunks injured where surgery was the only way, and how good it felt in the aftermath of the surgery and recovery. It's a long long story, but I broke my foot and tried to gut it out for almost a year because... well, because. On top of it, at the time, I delivered mail for the USPS ( 24 yrs until I finally said F IT), and because of my dedication to the neighborhoods I provided service for, work ethic, and not being able to afford life during the 16 week recovery time, I played hurt... walking door to door, 15ish miles a day, through the holiday seasons, the ice, snow, and cold of a Minnesota winter, 12ish hours a day. I finally reached well past my max pain tolerance and threw in the towel. Needless to say, I had the surgery performed and left the same day with some shiny new titanium and screws in my foot, crutches, a boot, and high on narcotics. I was pain free, easy peasy, until.... later that evening when all the Novocaine in my foot finally wore off. I tell ya what, the waves of gripping pain that smacked me to and fro, well, intense doesn't even cover it. lol Thankfully it lasted only a few hours and all was good in the world once more.☺ Anyway, I'm glad your surgery wasn't as involved as it could've been, and went exceptionally well where you could walk out that same day under your own power. Don't push it too hard, too fast though. I'm beginning to understand how your mind works, and just how hardcore and passionate your drive is once you set your sights on a goal. This personality trait of yours is a blessing and a curse no doubt, but I'm in your corner cheering you on to stay the course forward, toward that horizon of success, making every single one of your dreams dreamt, and those you've yet to dream , come true. ❤✌🏽

Re Mosquitos. As soon as you discover you've been bit you can run the area under water and take a brush (toothbrush works) and brush the area thoroughly to get the itchy saliva out then apply aloe. Pro tip: apply scotch tape to welts to prevent itching

Loved this video! You asking to keep the hospital gown was funny. While I was at the funeral home making arrangements after my mom's passing, I saw a beautiful urn which didn't look like an urn, it looked more like home decor. It was made out of Himalayan salt (like the salt lamps). I made a comment on how beautiful it was. The funeral director gave it to me. He even carried it out to my car and put it in the trunk. It weighs about 15 pounds because it's made out of the Himalayan salt. I'm so glad that magic was performed on your knee, and all went well. Take care of yourself.
This has been a fun vlog. I'm so happy that your knee surgery was a success and pain free. A fortnight before our first lockdown in 2020 I had a total knee replacement. Having had numerous knee surgeries over a forty year period I wasn't fazed. Until I came out from under anaesthetic. It was the single most painful experience of my entire life. More painful than childbirth. More painful than spinal fusion. It was agony.
Take good care of your knees. Once they're messed up it just goes from bad to worse.
Oh my gosh I had no idea a replacement involved so much more pain, that sounds fairly traumatizing 😔❤️ how did you deal with soldiering through that painful period?
@@Caroline_Winkler Pain killers. Lots of pain killers. Lol. I think it depends on the extent of damage in your knee as to how painful it is. My orthopaedic surgeon said my knee was the worst he'd ever seen. When I was 28 I was told I needed knee replacement but I was too young. Eventually at age 64 I couldn't just keep walking through the pain etc. as there was really a lot of bone worn away by then.
I'm 4 weeks out from a total hip surgery and I watched the total knees being done with horror. My overnight hospital room buddy cried and moaned through her opioid haze all night. PT is tough for me but the knees battle a great deal more and for far longer.
@@susanv7415 Are you sure we never spent the night together? 😂😂 I was actually in ICU for first 24 hours.

P.S. quick way to select an object in photoshop: After you have your image ready, go to the top left menu bar click /select/, and then it will drop a menu, click /subject/ This will automatically select the main object in your image in a very accurate way. Then you can mask the layer so you have more control in case you want to touch up the selection. This will save you a lot of time :)

So great the surgery went well. A tip re the itchy feet... ordinary soap (cake or bar best) worked into a white paste with a little water, then rubbed onto the site of the bite, neutralises the insect poison. No more itch. No toothpaste needed, no mess... miracle.
I like the contained manic energy in all of these videos.

This is probably my first time commenting on any video, but I just wanted to thank you for being so refreshing, relatable, fun, gorgeous and so so honest! I've been watching you for a week, like, non-stop, and I love your sass, your (sometimes just passively shining) sense of humour and the way you handle... just life and the whole journey of it. I have always been interested in interior designs and anything that's vintage, but at this point that's the least important reason keeping me around here. When I need to chill and just sit down, but also wish to learn something in the meantime, I just grab a coffee, and come to you. Heal fast, be healthy, and take care of yourself so we can keep watching you and your shehaningans for a long time!

I also started spiralling, but when you shared about your up coming surgery I instantly felt so much better. Like you were my surgery buddy. Spit works too! You have to put it on the misquote spots and you have to let it dry! That is what puts the coating over the top of the spot and keeps it from itching!

Yay!! I'm so glad you are doing well after your surgery! I feel so much compassion for you with the bug bites on your feet - I've been there - I walked through a colony of chiggers, and it sounds like you may have done the same thing. They love tall grass, especially near water.
There's something very comforting about watching someone else with terrible work-life balance having to swap between having a breakdown and being a professional in meetings, all while zonked out and lying in bed. And still getting shit done on 4 hours of sleep.

How pathetic is my life🤣🤣but now can’t imagine a weekend without your video! Our crazy, anxious minds are the same . Here are a couple thoughts I had during your video, love the sweatpants (cableknit look to them) glad you didn’t take the pain meds, love that your parents are so close that you can drive there, how blessed you are, why isn’t she sleeping, it’s 1:30, and she’s having surgery, oh that’s right she has to spiral first🤣🤣🤣it’s the beautiful, broken hot messes of the world that shine brightest, and it is light we are called to be! They are always tough, but it's great that you have such supportive friends and family to lean on during those times. Dude!!! I totally know the struggle and the relief from having one of your tree trunks injured where surgery was the only way, and how good it felt in the aftermath of the surgery and recovery. It's a long long story, but I broke my foot and tried to gut it out for almost a year because... well, because.
On top of it, at the time, I delivered mail for the USPS ( 24 yrs until I finally said F IT), and because of my dedication to the neighborhoods I provided service for, work ethic, and not being able to afford life during the 16 week recovery time, I played hurt... walking door to door, 15ish miles a day, through the holiday seasons, the ice, snow, and cold of a Minnesota winter, 12ish hours a day. I finally reached well past my max pain tolerance and threw in the towel. Needless to say, I had the surgery performed and left the same day with some shiny new titanium and screws in my foot, crutches, a boot, and high on narcotics. I was pain free, easy peasy, until.... later that evening when all the Novocaine in my foot finally wore off. I tell ya what, the waves of gripping pain that smacked me to and fro, well, intense doesn't even cover it. lol
Thankfully it lasted only a few hours and all was good in the world once more.☺
Anyway, I'm glad your surgery wasn't as involved as it could've been, and went exceptionally well where you could walk out that same day under your own power. Don't push it too hard, too fast though. I'm beginning to understand how your mind works, and just how hardcore and passionate your drive is once you set your sights on a goal. This personality trait of yours is a blessing and a curse no doubt, but I'm in your corner cheering you on to stay the course forward, toward that horizon of success, making every single one of your dreams dreamt, and those you've yet to dream , come true. ❤✌🏽

Re Mosquitos. As soon as you discover you've been bit you can run the area under water and take a brush (toothbrush works) and brush the area thoroughly to get the itchy saliva out then apply aloe. Pro tip: apply scotch tape to welts to prevent itching
my Saturday morning routine literally every weekend is: drink a large iced coffee and cram a blueberry muffin in my mouth while watching your vids. Anyway, glad your surgery went well!

Wrapping the knee in cling wrap-plastic wrap, will "water shield" it for a shower. Works better then a bag & more comfortable then, " a leg out".
