It looks like they took RE1 and RE2 and put them in a blender, effectively removing all substance either would have. EDIT: Also the fact it took them about 30 movies to make one actually about the main characters is impressive.
To be fair we knew that from PR. We also know from this trailer and prior PR that; Jill and Wesker are not in their classic uniform like Chris or rest of stars AND are in a relationship. Leon has a near full moustache and goatee. Claire is the conspiracy nut, not Jill. 1&2 are effectively/likely happening together, and 3 is being ignored. Like, it LOOKS like RE and we have nostalgia throwbacks (itchy tasty, camera turn) and RPD press pics looked great but...i dunno im still hesitant AF.
i´m liking these so far, as someone who hasn´t seen the trailer either up to now I just don´t understand why you´d make the video you react to so small and transparent.
That's more to appease UA-cam's copyright issues than anything. Same for the audio levels. Just one of those things. Usually people seek out reactions to things they've already seen so I figured it'd be a safe bet. Glad you're enjoying them!
The CGI looks pretty jank. Really smacks of the Cerberus zombie dog from Afterlife. Which is very... not good. Also "itchy tasty" is a reference from RE1. The Keeper's Diary. A file of diary entries written by an Umbrella employee as he went through the t-virus infection. The final two entries are: "Fever gone but itchy. Hungry and eat doggy food. Itchy itchy Scott came. Ugly face so killed him. Tasty. " "Itchy. Tasty."
Could be fun if not for horrendous miscasting of almost every character. I mean, what is the point of references to the game if both Claire and Leon (especially Leon) don't look anything like their in-game counterpart? I mean how could they cast almost exact Carlos look-a-like as Leon, for the love of god? Just how? Also, CG looks like trash.
Yep. Leon looks almost like a spanish leon (which iirc that description fits a re4 character that wasnt leon in 4) and Jill looks a tad bit more like Sheva than Jill. I want this to be good but....who knows...
I thought playing "smells like teen spirit"' at the start of Black Widow would be taking the prize for most out of place remix of a song in a movie. After hearing the audio to this trailer, I'm now convinced otherwise. First, slowed down "emo" remixes are getting way too commonplace. Second, there are so many situations where that kind of music isn't appropriate. Lastly, LEARN TO MAKE YOUR OWN MUSIC, especially for something as big this game.
I understand the desire to bring video games to the big screen, but the vast majority are not well suited to anything but the loosest adaptations. A purely watchable medium is never going to have the engagement/impact of a medium you actively participate in, and the history of video game movies kind of proves that. Yet they keep making just enough money to convince studio executives to green light projects that are never going to be anything other than mediocre. Also, to paraphrase the very wise words of LEGO Batman, "Black...every mediocre zombie move is shot entirely with a black foreground."
When I first saw this I was hype, but then I remembered it's a RE movie. After watching the trailer I don't think I've ever been so mad at a trailer ever before this. Obvious cash grab with forced remember this moments and crap narrative. Of course this is my opinion. If you feel like you'll enjoy this, go for it. I however will pass. I love the RE franchise to bits, so this trailer hurt me. :(
Honestly this was an awful trailer. It felt like they are more trying to sell the cheesiness of Resident Evil rather than the horror of it. Cheese is fine, but it should be the supplemental part, not the main aspect of it. Also the song choice was hilariously stupid. I'm also a little annoyed that they tried to use game themes and characters but didn't actually follow the story of RE2, which this would be based on judging by Claire's involvement. No mention that I heard of her looking for Chris, and way too much mentioning of stopping Umbrella which was never the goal of RE2. The goal of Claire and Leon was simply to survive, with sub goals for each character, Leon's being to save as many people as he can, and Claire's to find Chris/Save Sherry. I think this hurts me more considering the plot of Resident Evil 2 could be made so easily into a movie. You'd have to change some of the aspects of the splitting up a bit, such as having Claire and Leon start in the RPD station together, and have them split up only when Sherry/Chief Irons and Ada come in, and then obviously have them come back together for the end with William.
The movie looks like absolute low budget *TRASH.* They're completely butchering the story. They just straight up mashed RE1 and RE2 together and as a result, had to cut out the VAST majority of the content from both of those games... There's *NO* Tyrant, *NO* Mr.X, *NO* Hunters, *NO* Chimeras, *NO* Barry, *NO* Bravo Team, Ada will *ONLY* show up after the credits and Wesker has been reduced to a soft emotional pansy, completely robbing him of *EVERYTHING* that made him the cold, slick badass we all love. There's only *THREE* monsters in this movie: - Lisa Trevor - *ONE* Licker - and a *HORRIBLE* depiction of William Birkin
