Locker room speeches are cliche in movies, but the effect they have is real. In my JV year of football, we were terrible but in the very first game at halftime (which we were losing) our coach gave us a speech that by the end he was literally crying, telling us we were better than this.
We ended up going undefeated that year, and in then the next 2 years of varsity. That one speech transformed the entire group of guys.

In fairness Coach Brooks taught the USA team how Europeans play hickey different from Americans/Canadians. That made all the difference in the world.

I remember sitting in a college dorm room with a six inch black & white TV watching the game and thinking no way they can beat the Soviet red army team!! I was so proud to be an American when they won and I'm still proud to be an American.

Machismo, Toxic Masculinity, Nationalism, white supremacy, ... Just horrible, this was the old Disney, before it WOKE up and confronted it's evil past.. Now, this scene would have people of color, black, Asian, Hispanic, LGBT equity, with prominent gay characters, and a Transgender player........... The NEW and Improved Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So true. It would be about separating every player down to their skin color, sexuality, and religion. Not about a team of players uniting as Team USA.
