    since you asked:
    - Glacius was the first "main" I had in a fighting game I took REALLY seriously (KI2013 my beloved)
    - Ayane ended up being my forever girl in DOA, something about her stupid spinning won me over
    - Leona Heidern was the first character I ever labbed in KOF13 and I've been using her ever since, even in older titles. she made me love charge inputs tbh

Oh man, Gekko Alisa main? Same here, Alisa was only Tekken character I have actually tried to learn back in Tekken 6 times (and little during Tekken 7, not that I actually enjoyed playing that like I used to enjoy playing T6 on my PSP. That was a long ago at this point). I don't play much more fighting games tbh. There is no more text here. Nope. No sir-i!
SIKE! I AM A PROUD WARCRIMINAL AXL LOW MAIN IN STRIVE! The moment I saw him when I first entered the character screen in Strive got me hooked on the character, the game and fucking lore of the GG series. The man is just the greatest goober there is and ofc gotta give a shoutout to his English VA, Octopimp for his awesome performance (I have followed his youtubing career for years before I actually knew he was Axl's VA).

Any Grappler characters, like Potemkin, Zangief, and King. Especially Strive Pot, since its the one that introduced me to fighting games. Just something about big menacing figures being able to deal tons of damage while having a goofy, yet likeable side of them is just endearing

It caused me to get interested in fighting games as a whole, and I’m prepared to go to other games. He got me interacted in heavies, and I am very willing to play him, and learn some other characters that fit that description like funny cartoon character Faust and the genius that is

I tried to get into smash competitively, in which I mained (and still casually main) incineroar. Big cat go big grab
Funny thing is, this channel got me into GGST, where I thought I was going to main Sol. But I had just gotten done with a local theater performance where I had a British accent, and decided “eh let’s try Axl.”
Now Axl is my main, still pushing with him currently (for 3v3s I really want to do a core of Axl-chaos-elphelt/pot/ky)

I have to divide the characters in two groups: the ones that made me love fighting games and the ones that made me come back to the genre after life got in the way of gaming. Kitana from MK, Athena from KoF and Lilith from Darkstalkers made me love the genre when I was a kid. I had no idea what I was doing, but I loved playing with them. The ones that brought me back to the genre were Tira from Soul Calibur and Testament from Strive. SC6 is the game that made me invest time in the fgc and play "seriously" for the first time in my life, and Testament is the one that made sure I will never stop playing again. These two are the reason I follow you and all the other FGC content creators, Testament in particular is probably one the best characters to exemplify how I like to play, together with Athena from KoF and Rose from Street Fighter.
But on a different note: Happy Birthday Gekko!

    P4au=yosuke is best boy
Guilty gear= I thought millias idle In +r was funny
    Blazblue=izanami can stop time
What I’m trying to say is tierlists are a myth perpetuated by big fighting game to stop you from playing silly characters. Do not be a sheep to big fighting game, play silly characters

Juri - My first main in every SF game she's been in. I don't actually like her the most in any of them but she's solid and fun in every entry.
Anji Mito - This guy is Guilty Gear for me. I dabble on other characters but they only end up reminding me of how much I'd rather play him instead. Nobody else has that combination of elegance, power and stupidity. Blocking is for cowards, watch me SPIN.
King (KoF) - She's so fucking Gender. The only zoner I have ever found fun. Technically my first main ever since I started with that series. Y'all should play KoF.
Anila - I'm new to Granblue and I don't care about anything but the big tiddy sheep girl with long range and a KoF moveset. Is she the easiest character in the game? Yes. Is her damage output ass? Yes. I still love her.
Olympia - RIVALS OF AETHER IS THE BEST PLATFORM FIGHTER! My absolute favorite character. Anji comes close but no, it's her. Angry rat lady PUNCH

In chronological order of when I first played it:
    - (Honorable mention) Tekken 4. Jin: he was my first ever fighting game character I played as a kid and I thought he had a really fuckin cool character and design. Bro convinced me and my dad to take karate lessons just because I thought his style was sick.
    - Honorable mention) Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2. Rock Lee: Didn't know anything about the series. I just thought that in this game with these magic children, punchy, kicky kid looked neat.
    - (Honorable mention) Street Fighter 4. Evil Ryu: I liked the edgy crap, liked going unga bunga, and thought it was really funny whenever I just spammed shoryuken and won.
    - (Honorable mention) Dragonball FighterZ. Adult Gohan: Literally only because I thought a UA-cam video of his fight against Buu was cool.
    - Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. (320 hours). Little Mac: Punch-Out!! Wii is one of my favourite games to the point I can 100% it blindfolded. I discovered I like fast, easy to learn, in your face, explosive characters. It's the first character I've ever gotten *good* at.
    - Guilty Gear Strive. (305 hours). Giovanna: my first *real* fighting game. The first I ever took seriously and got me into the fgc due to now having friends to play them with. I've had an extremely similar journey with her. Probably my favourite fighting game character ever and cementing my taste in characters, but ArcSys kinda ruining how she felt to play made me try out other characters like Ramlethal, Leo, Baiken, and Bridget. No other character could quite scratch that itch though.
    - (Honorable mention) Skull Girls. Fillia: Not much time played but enjoyed what I put in.
    - (Honorable mention) Blazblue Centralfiction. Makoto Nanaya. Man when I actually learn how to play this game she will guaranteed be one of the most fun characters I'll ever play.
    - Street Fighter 6. (91 hours). Ken: Taught me to enjoy neutral. Convinced me that Street Fighter might not actually be a boring series.
    - (Honorable mention) Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. (109 hours). Cagliostro: Picked her as a complete antithesis to who I usually play and found I enjoyed her a great deal. It's hilarious watching people try to figure out how traps work. Her combos and teleport also feel really cool to do. First character I actually did really good in tournament with.
    - Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. (109 hours). Yuel: After switching from Cag, she's so insanely fun. Her pressure that dares you to mash is incredibly engaging. She's also just adorable as hell.

But my first main was actually Ms. Fortune in Skull Girls

Link being in SoulCalibur II back on the Gamecube was my first real exposure to a non smash fighting game. of course back then I didn't even know where to learn how to play fighting games and just pressed buttons in that game for hours on end. SoulCalibur III being Ps2 exclusive meant that I didn't even know it existed until SoulCalibur IV came along and had Yoda and Vader promotions everywhere. again I didn't have those consoles, and by the time SoulCalibur V came along I was still sinking every free second I had into Skyrim and that one flew under my radar. It wasn't until SoulCalibur VI that I really got into fighting games and started trying to learn them for real. and hot damn was that game ever a lot of fun. I definitely put the most Time into Talim, but also played a decent amount of Siegfried. it's a shame the netcode sucks because It's a really fun game that more people should try.

2, going insane over the constant overlaps with myself here, I picked up strive in season 2 and picked baiken as soon as I saw her colour 8 bevause elegant pink lady she just like me fr fr, then fell in love with how she works in strive (xrd baiken would be really cool of not for me hating the azami input, thank god samsho fixed it I should play her more there), but started dooming over baiken in early season 3 and picked up a pocket gio as a break until I got my energy and love for Baiken back, gio's really fun too. Then in tekken I initially picked alisa purely because I saw her and went "no way pink hair and pronouns" not knowing she was a silly robot girl and I loved her. I only REALLY got into fighting games around 3 years ago but played Smash Bros since I was a kid with Sonic and played a bit of Street Fighter 4 with Ryu. BBTAG was my awakening into the genre and Neo from RWBY was the character that got me into it alongside playing her with Hyde from under night
Since then I've played UNIST with Eltnum, Blazblue Central Fiction with Mu 12, Melty Blood Type Lumina with Miyako Arima, Ferry in GrandBlue Fantasy Versus, Skullgirls 2nd Encore Filia and Fucua and Garou Mark of the Wolves with Rock Howard. I want to eventually pick up Tekken 8 since I never played much Tekken besides a bit of Tekken Dark Resurrection when I had it on my brother's PSP and Street Fighter 6 too. Fighting games are amazing and the community that I got to know through them is even better both in traditional 2d fighters and the Smash scene

...The answer is honestly way simpler then I originally thought: Taokaka, from BlazBlue. To some degree - Faust (even though I got familiar with him in his Strive's incarnation: creepy, yeah - but still quirky and funny) and Baiken (because of "local woman too angry to die" vibes)

In Smash Ultimate, Terry Bogard is my boy and I love him so much. In UMvC3, it's the Trench Coat Mafia, A.K.A., Wesker, Dante, and Vergil. Yes, I like playing as Vergil in UMvC3. Shut up. my list would be:
k', the king of fighters - i just found him really cool and fun to play as, my history with him goes pretty far with the kof wing flash game in like 2013 but i became a full fledged kof fan only by like 2019 reminisicing about that game, and after that i would pretty much become more interested into fighting games as a whole, not just kof
carmine, under night in-birth - this is a game I didn't expect myself to get into but it would leave a huge impact on my fighting game spectrum as id be finding about more arcsys fighting games; carmine specifically feels pretty fun as an edgelord hp sacrifice gimmick character whose playstyle is so obnoxious and pretty much everything works with him to do good damage and pressure
lars alexandersson, tekken - in 2023 tekken would be the game to resuscitate my fighting game love after being inactive in any fgs since 2021 with my last one being guilty gear xxac, i specifically picked lars as a main because he looked and played pretty cool with all of his flashy stuff and entry slide stances, but i progressively became more of a jin/kazuya main

Both of them introduced me to the rushdown play style and I have not stopped since. When I learned my first 50/50 with Riptor it was like something clicked in my head and I haven’t stopped pressing buttons while I’m minus, and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Smoke from Mortal Kombat. I personally prefer human over cyborg. Happy Chaos was the main reason I got into Guilty Gear but Axl Low became my main, still fun to shoot with the funny gremlin guy. Victor Chevalier in T8 because he reminds me of Jetstream Sam from MGR:R and that's fuuuunnnyyy. I didn't really do much Street Fighter 6 but Cammy was fun. Played Shishiro Botan in Idol Showdown since she was easy to learn combos for. Mitsurugi in Soul Calibur and Alpha-152 in Dead or Alive 6. Yeeahh...I bounced around a lot but those were just some of my characters.

I can definitely blame smash for throwing me into fighting games. Even in the time of getting more competitive in smash, playing smash 4 Palu, Rosa, and Bayo. Then playing mainly Wolf and Bayo in Ult, slowly losing touch with Palu then accepting who she was. After getting into the Zelda series, I found myself with a copy of soul calibur 2. My dad bought and told me I was lucky as it was the last copy that store had in stock. Went from play Link to playing Ivy. Years later, I see myself playing King, Lili, and Zafina in Tekken, Millia in Strive, Vaseraga in Granblue, Dahlia, Squigly, Eliza, and Marie in Skullgirls, still playing Ivy in Soul Calibur, even learning 2B (soon to learn her in Granblue as well). Even now still going back to plat fighters, Rivals of Aether playing pretty all the fire charcters, Forsburn, Zetterburn, Clairen, and Mollo.

Dizzy is my favourite fighting game character overall. She has just about everything I'm looking for. Though she struggles defensively, she has good nobility with strong zoning and set-play. She also has the funny Gamma Ray move. Her theme, Awe of She, also happens to be the first Guilty Gear anything I was exposed to. On top of that, I just like her as a character.
Though I was never the biggest fan of playing rushdown, Under Night changed that with Erika Wagner. She helped me enjoy the rushdown playstyle more, while remaining easily my favourite of that archetype. Doing anything with her just feels incredibly satisfying, and Sys:Celes only added to it. Also, I mean, she steps on you.
Touhou Hisoutensoku was one of the first fighting games that really got me into the genre, and it remains my favourite. It was there that I was introduced to Patchouli Knowledge. I love her for similar reasons to Dizzy. Even in a game where basically everyone has godlike mobility, Patchouli stands out, and the way her projectiles work make for very satisfying setups. Patchouli also just happens to be my favourite Touhou character.

    -Persona arena: Chie

My favorite fg characters are probably:
Elena (SF3 3S): First character I played who properly got me into fighting games. Her focus on EX specials and the trade-offs between that and SA3 made her very fun to play for the first time.
Zeku (SFV): He's so COOL! Easily my favorite part of SFV, the character is really fun and stylish.
Justice (GGXAC+R): I played johnny in +R at first, but switched to her because her design is too cool and nuke is maybe my favorite special move period.
Ukyo Tachibana (Samsho 5 Sp): my favorite character in my favorite fighting game. I love how good his normals are, and tsubame is busted and I love it.
JP (SF6): Pierce. Pierce. Go. Pierce. Go.

    Fantastic line-up!
For me, DBFZ was also Trunks. Extremely comfy, extremely stylish-- and hell it's Trunks. I'm a 90s kid, ofcourse he was among coolest char of my childhood.
Strive, same for Baiken. Came for the-- visual appeal, stayed for the explosive damage and gameplay. What a fun ass character they made!
But special mention goes to SFV. A game I HATE HATE HATE HATED... until - G - came out. Holy shit. WHAT A CHARACTER. The animations, the combos. So fun.

Not that I can play them but, Valkenhayn and Slayer..... I might have a type.
I suffer from perpetual character crisis so I don't typically 'main' anyone. But over the years, characters I've played a decent amount of:
    Kilik and Seigfreid/Nightmare (Soul Calibur)
    Jin and Tsubaki (Blazblue)
    Yosuke and Labrys (P4A/U)
    Faust and Testament (Strive)
    K' from KoF
Currently Vaseraga in Granblue and looking at Yoshi in Tekken 8. Both of those are likely to change but I'll do my best to keep them.

The characters that made me love fighting games are:
    Ike (Brawl)
Gandondor, little Mac, Terry, Hero (Ultimate)
Pot, Faust, Testament, Bedman?, Axl (Strive)
    Gief (SF6)
    Susanoo, Tager (BlazeBlueCF)
    Scorpion (Injustice 1)
All those characters are so incredibly fun to play and I never get tired of playing or seeing them, I started playing back in Brawl, and that was my gateway for the FGC.

I played a lot of fighting games and I am looking forward to Tekken 8. Tekken was probably my first fighting game I ever played and recognized as a fighting game, and is also my favorite and on top of that the first game where I really had a character that *clicked* with me.
Tekken 7: Asuka (also really tried with Lucky Chloe, Alisa and Eliza but couldnt figure them out enough)
    MK11: Noob Saibot/Sub Zero
    Injustice 2: Harley Quinn
DBFZ: Janemba, Jiren, Android 21 as a team
And then I played other fighting games but not as long or seriously but I played Juri in SF5, Hitomi in DOA6, Glacius in KI andYoshimitsu in Soul Calibour

If I were to list the characters that made me fall in love with their respective game, it would be:
Potemkim from GGST (Though I also love Test).
Vaseraga from GBVS/Rising is just the most badass and chill dude in media for me.
    Susanoo and Akatsuki in BBTAG
And of course, the character that is the sole reason I picked up FGs for real AND why I still play DBFZ despite hating its current state in ps4, the one, the only, the true GOD OF DESTRUCTION, Lord BOOLER. I just cannot explain, I just love Cooler in FighterZ, I can't put em down, just my favorite in the entire genre, without question.

You're gonna see a pattern with characters I like.
MK9 my first fighting game(thats not Smash in which Rosalina is my fav) I loved mileena and Kitana and occasionally played Skarlet
MKX Once again I loved Mileena and Kitana.
MK11 I loved Skarlet and Jade and Mileena.
SF5 Menat and Poison were my girls.
Tekken 7 ELiza was my fav while Zafina is a close second.
    SF6 Manon is my pick.
Guilty Gear Strive I mained Zato I already suck and he got nerfed lol.
    DNF Enchantress and Launcher.
    Injustice Harley Quinn, Raven,Starfire, Zatanna
    MK1(probably can guess)
    UNIB Phonon and Hilda
TLDR; I clearly have a thing for characters who control space and are usually female lol.

One character got me into fighting games and will forever be my undisputed GOAT
    And he is

    Mine are:
Wagner from UNI: I had my first ever W in a fighting game online thanks to her. I love her design, personality and playstyle. And, to this day, she is the fg character I play the best.
Bedman from Guilty Gear Xrd: The charqcter that got me into the genre because of how cool he is. Deja vu is an amazing mechanic.
Litchi from Blazblue: I love everything about her even though I suck with her more than with any other character.
Filia and Beowulf from Skullgirls: Rushdown waifus are my type. Grapplers aren't, but Beowulf is so cool he is the exception.
    Athena from KOF: PSYCHO BALL!
I-No from GG and Morrigan from Darkstalkers: Using their dash for mixups is really satisfactory.
Any Fire Emblem character in Smash: They are all very fun in their own ways. I also really like Joker, since he is the closer I will get from being able to play a Persona 5 fighting game other than P4AU.

I got into fighting games way back with SF2 on the SNES, but I've tried and played a bunch since.
I'm by no means a competitive player, and I generally just play for fun.
Characters that made me stick with FGs are... (sorry for all the rambling :p)
    * Bridget and Millia back in GGX2 on the PS2, and to this day still sticking with Strive thanks to both of them.
    * Smash was different with each game, going from Marth to ROB, then Olimar to Incineroar.
    * As for Skullgirls, despite not having played in a while, who had me come back often was Big Band, Miss Fortune and Painwheel.
    * I kept getting back to Chaos Code because of Cthylla and Ray.
    * I played so much BlazBlue going from Rachel in CT, Makoto in CS to really liking Kokonoe and Amane Nishiki in CF.
    * In Under Night, it had gone from really wanting to play Yuzuriha (and failing), to liking Carmine. Then Wagner happened, and I still love playing her the most.
    * I don't play a lot of 3D fighters anymore, but SoulCalibur was a big one to me and I can thank Raphael and Astaroth for it :p (and Link to an extent)
    * And I'd like to add Makoto and Q from SF3, I find them just so enjoyable to play as.

Happy B-day. I loved this video.. Just gushing over yer favorite fighting game characters is THE SHIT Here are mine (not in chronological order just in what order i remember them):
    - Bloody Roar 2/3 Long/Stun/Marvel... all of em really favorite game ever.
    - Soul calibur 6. 2B but the game really wasn't for me (i play her for the exact same reason you do. She is best girl of best game fight me)
    - Injustice 2 Gorilla Grod. He is a gorilla with mind powers why would i NOT be playing him?
    - Killer instinct Aria (this was almost a decade ago. Want to retry it again and just play Riptor)
    - Mortal Kombat 11 Shao Kahn first but then quickly moved on to Frost. Very cool character but she is gone now and so is that game. Also first fighting game i actually tried to get good at (r y'know dip my toes in).
    - Blazblue continuum shift (yes way before centralfiction) I played the squirrel girl because she was all about punching the shit out of people.
    - Tekken 7 a little bit of Lydia. Some Kazumi and then Armor King my beloved.
    - Tekken 8 been playing for a week non-stop now. Picked Reina because i regretted never giving Heihachi a chance cuzz he was to scary. Am now rank 14 Eliminator (orange) (but i can't help but glance over to Jun every now and then)
    - Guilty Gear Xrd Kum. I need Kum to come back into Strive!
    - Guilty Gear Strive Bedman? Your Strive journey inspired me to give the game another go after Zato and Pot and now i have found my main that i love very much thank you... I just can't seem to get into celestial rank BUT i considered myself the top player in europe for a short bit since i was LITERALLY the only person in europe's 10th floor XD
    - DBFZ 16/21/Vegito for the 1st 100 hours until i got to demon rank and i quit.i got REALLY into fighting games thanks to this one and a group of friends that coached me. I started out together with this guy and i am still very proud of him for making it into a big tournament. He inspired me to give it another shot a couple months ago and i changed my team into who i actually wanted to play (aside from Roshi.. To much for me) Kefla/16/Baby and i managed to push my rank to SSJ3. I hated this game as much as i loved it.
    - Street Fighter 6. Cammy my beloved! Tried to get to diamond rank with her but then i broke my wrist in september and i never came back.
    - Skullgirls my memory is a bit foggy but i definetly played Robo Fortune for a bit. beep-beep-blarb
    - Granblue versus new release thingy demo version. I play Soriz every chance i get. He is hella fun. Might consider buying the game when 2B actually releases because... well 2B

I Started playing fighting games when MK11 came out and I've only really played 3 or 4 of them properly but my Favourite Characters/Mains are as Follows
MK11: Shao Khan (big man with hammer)
SFV: Oro ( love my blessed turtle man, Oro was the first Character I really ended up deep diving into, Learning the fireball loops and charge/jump cancels for the Ex Fireball to standing medium kick loops as well as all the tengu mixups thanks to people like Brain F, Broski and Prophet)
GGST: Goldlewis Dickenson ( White wild assault is attrocius but Goldewis is super fun and his tech is boundless so learning is a constant process with this character)
SF3 Third Strike: Q ( Third strike was fun but I only really put in minimal hours, but Q was fun and knowing G from SFV is Q before whatever happened to him made the character quite easy to grow attached to.
    Cheers!

    OK.
Samurai Shodown: Riding high off Rurouni Kenshin, probably lead me to the SNK samurai games. Nakoruru is waifu, but I remember liking Ukyo, Genjuro, and probably based one of my online names on, Shizumaru. Sadly I don't remember who I really tried to main in The Last Blade, probably Moriya on design.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves: Kim Jae Hoon. The corner mixup against this one guy where I'm either going high or going low. Couldn't guess properly.
Street Fighter 4: Gouken, just preferred him over the other shotos. Didn't go anywhere.
    BlazBlue: Ragna, easy to get.
And that's when I basically stopped for a while until recently. Those would be:
Strive: Bridget, because cute and large normals that comboed into each other. Recently Testament because only QFC motions but crow just hates the other succubus, and Elphelt for a change of pace.
Granblue: Want to say Narmaya. In fact, it's because of seeing GBV videos of Narmaya are why I'm playing fighting games again. But I have not tried her online. Right now I don't really have a main, but it's leaning towards people with varied tools and big buttons like Siegfried, Katalina and Anila. But I had some success with Charlotta. Someone recommended me Belial, and I don't know if I want to be scared or intrigued because of the character; he's an asshole, but might be a fun asshole.
UPDATE: Ah shit he's a fun asshole.

I’ve been casually playing every Tekken that’s released since I was about 5 years old, but it wasn’t until last summer that I really got into fighting games. I had known about Testament (we shared the same birthday :p) for about 4 years, but last summer I was in the airbnb at DreamCon with my friends who LOVE fighting games and I got to see them play so many different titles. That was the week I fell in love with GGST :))
    That being said:
Tekken: Hwoarang is in my blood for any Tekken title, and so is Eddy
GGST: Testament is my heart and soul, however, I do enjoy playing Ky 🫢
SF6: Manon’s increasingly ridiculous command grabs scratch my brain just perfectly. Also I love fashion haha

I like to jump around the rosters a lot, but there's a few here and there that are longitme favorites and I'll always start with.
Street Fighter: Chun-Li - My first ever fighting game character, back in the days of OG Street Fighter II when I was about 8 or 9 years old.
Soul Edge/Calibur: Sophitia - Again, back in the days of the original Soul Edge, the damsel of the Sword & Board caught my attention quickly. I still have a memory of my mom taking me to the movies and playing Soul Edge in the arcade next to it in the mall.
Mortal Kombat: Sindel, ever since MK 3. Super screams, flying, and hair attacks. She became a favorite. In the 3D era I grew to like Ashrah and was thrilled she was playable in MK1.
For series I started more recently:
Guilty Gear: I-No. I started w/ Chipp b/c I like the speedy characters, and tried Axl some, but found I-No to be the one I gelled with fastest and w/ the most success.
Tekken: Ling Xiaoyu was the character I used most when I played an arcade Tekken. I think I even got her ending once. In 8 I've been playing ranked w/ Alisa. I wouldn't say I've been successful, but I feel good w/ how I've done.

    Well why not?
I first got into fighters with Skullgirls and loved Big Band. First combo I learned on my own and a very cool character and stage song.
Power Rangers taught me to like setting up BS on the screen with Mastodon Sentry
And in DBZ, I was committed to Krillin and Tien because I like them a lot.
I quit for a while then Bridget pulled me back in. But I'm now learning Anji and Bedman?
Street Fighter 6 gave me Marisa, but then I tried Manon and haven't looked back. Ground her up from Bronze 1 to Plat 2 and I'm crawling to go higher
Melty Blood gave me Neco-Arc. Because I love gremlins!
And finally, I am learning Leroy in Tekken 8 because I gotta play the cool old black fighter whenever one's available.

Here's my list in chronological order kinda, feel free to laugh:
Skullgirls - Big Band + Parasoul
I played Skullgirls for the first time at a time when I used to deny I was seeing what I was definitely seeing, so I had to pick the tame characters, you know what I mean. I stick with them to this day because I find them super fun, Big Band is the only charge character I like
    DoA - Hitomi
She's cute, does karate and her default outfit is the right amount of fanservice
DBFZ - Android 21, Android 21 and Nappa
I bought the game because of A21. About Nappa, I'll just say I've never laughed harder than the one day I played Nappa against a friend
Guilty Gear - Ramlethal Valentine, Goldlewis Dickinson
I came for Ramlethal, I stayed in this Behemoth Typhoon
    Melty Blood - Aoko Aozaki
Best girl, love the character, love the drip, love the moveset
    Hinokakera Chaotic Eclipse - Kakeru
The stiffness of the animations remind me of Drakengard, and I have actually good memories of that game. I also find funny the smoke trail of his cigar.
    Under Night IN-Birth - Akatsuki
I started the game fully believing I'd be a Yuzuriha simp, but Akatsuki just does exactly what I expected him to do with each and every button. If I liked any other character in that game half as much I'd probably still play it

Chipp zanuff got me to love guilty gear which is now my favorite fighting game series, I play like half the roster in accent core (my favorite fighting game) with standouts being HOS, sol, chipp, ABA, and anji. Anji and I-No taught me to love GG Strive where before I just assumed it wasn’t for me. Kanji from p4A might be one of my favorite grapplers ever alongside Potemkin, And Chie from the same game was my gateway to him, MVC3 taught me to love the shoto with ryu, and SF6 gave me an intense love of Ken’s crazy kicks, a few more misc characters would be: ibuki and Dudley from third strike, Felicia from darkstalkers, Johnny, jam, and slayer for both XX and XRD (you see most of these are guilty gear related), SSB vegeta was my first main in a fighting game, and he, base goku, and Kefla are my favorites in that game (although adult Gohan is a close second). Dr. Doom in MVC2 is awesome, and my mvc baby will always be strider no matter how shit he may get. Happy birthday gekko, thank you for teaching me to love strive more, helping me, through your journey, overcome tilt, and happy birthday man

Tekken 7 Claudio ( I'm Italian and he is Italian so I picked him)
SF5 Cammy ( it was my first 2D game it doesn't ended well unfortunately)
SF6 Ken Masters ( I'm doing good with him and is design is amazing)
Tekken 8 Lars Alexanderson ( I love flashy and cool combos and he is what I was looking for) ( Claudio is not the same)
DB FighterZ Hit ( he's HIT so I don't need to explain)
GBFVR Siegfried ( he's very cool and a little bit edgy so hw was the most suitable for me)
And that's all the list with a little explanation for every character, sorry if I've made some grammar mistakes

I originally played DBFZ, I heard it had autocombos and I recently watched DBZA so I thought why not.
I played Tien and Trunks (And someone else) because I just really liked Tien's tri beam and thought trunks was cool.
    I didn't acctually enjoy DBFZ.
Then I got Strive and hoo boy I love aquatic animals, so I went in, picked May and... Mained happy chaos for like a month because he just like me fr fr.
Then I stopped playing as much, hopping back in to try out the DLC characters, liked Brisket and Bedman? but nothing really sung to me.
Then I saw your getting good, videos and it inspired me to play Baiken. I'm now floor 9~ and loving Baiken. So to answer the question, Baiken is what made me love fighting games.

I only play fighting games offline when I have friends/siblings over but I love them so much.
My first main was probably Hawkeye in MvCI (my first fighting game) because being he could flip around and shoot ice arrows and annoy everyone.
I love Eric Myers in Power Rangers Battle for the Grid (due to being voiced by the same VA as Vergil from DMC) and Ninja Adam because of the Adam Gang campaign that got started up by a now friend.
These days I've started getting into KOF XV and when I first had someone over to play I used Clark a lot, and managed to do a lot of his grapples semi-consistently and I think he's just a fun guy that I enjoy!
Also oh my god I love BBTAG even though I know next to nothing about almost every source (aside from RWBY) and it's always a big hit with the friends I have over, but I never really settled on a main in that one, I just hit random and try to make whatever combination work (to varying degrees of success)

Relatively new to fighting games mself, but i have a few characters i like
Testament, Bedman?, Millia and I-No in GGST are my main...s? I really like playing them all but it sucks that its so time consuming to vary who i play as
Recently picked up Tekken 7 and DBFZ though, and for DBFZ my hands down favourite is DBS Broly. What can i say except i like loud noises. The team im starting with is Cooler, Broly, Frieza which is probably not optimal at all but funny purple men and shouty guy
Tekken 7 im still working on, but im messing around with Eliza and Master Raven. Both seem quite fun but im struggling to really gel with any character in that game atm, possibly because i have no idea what im doing.

I've tried a lot of fighting games in my life, but none of them have ever hooked me, except for Blazblue and GG, because of the characters and music in those two series. My favorite characters are: Testament, Slayer, Baiken, Elphelt, I-No, Jack-O, Nu, Rachel and Noel.

I'm sort of new but I've always played the beasties. Was a big Ferra-Tor main in MKX but I didn't take fighting games seriously until SF6 when I played Blanka and neurons fired in my brain like crazy. I love his command hop, his ball attacks, his install (I LOVE it), and now I'm addicted to charge inputs. Tried Strive and obviously I played May because charge is in my system. But in Undernight In-Birth 2 I am now a Merkava main because he's a monster rushdown-zoner hybrid. If they're beastly/charge then I definitely have to try them out.

Ky Kiske in Guilty Gear Strive is probably one of my favorite characters to play in a fighting game, period. I just freaking love pushing buttons and throwing out fireballs.
Also shout out to Ken Masters in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix for Xbox 360, he a real one forreal. 🗣️

Sakura and Poison in SFV were the first characters I dedicated time to so they hold a special place in my heart.
Ryu however has been my main ever since I took the time to go back and play Super Turbo, Alpha 2, and Third Strike. He’s my favorite fighting game character and if it weren’t for me discovering him I probably would’ve never learned fighting games at more than a surface level.
I also went back to play KOF98/02 and Garou always running teams with Terry on them and Yuri (except for Garou). To me they are the Ryu and Sakura of KOF so they really speak to me.
For Tekken, I am new and still learning but I am really looking to find that special character for me!

To quote something you once said of your video's that I personally standby of why I enjoy fighting games more or less is: "Fighting Characters that we play are an expression of ourselves". I played and dabbled in a lot of fighting games as a lot of the time If there's a character I like or vibe I try it just to play the characters or even for other reason such maybe a recognizable I.P like Power Rangers BFTG or even Pokken.. Even if it's game I wouldn't normally see myself playing than my main games that I enjoy as I try the game for the character. To name a few of my mains that I mostly play and that help me explore around the different fighting game series and such.
-Leo Whitefang (GGS): Other than sharing his name with my nick name my friends call me. I just knew I had to play him as I love his lion motif and even if he is a little goofy, he still gives of that strong pride of a lion like I mentioned that I like to feel personally. And when I play him, I don't fret to much of charge characters to much anymore.
-Katalina (GBFVR): Honestly, she's my main right now but that could be up in debate with Charlotta though see does feel completely like Leo even though she kind vibes almost in the same way as Leo to me, but I consider her my second main in GB. But Katalina, I just love her man, I have my fair share of "Waifus", but Katalina is just up there for me personally. The regal but kind knight protector like she is my definition of "My knight of shining armor."
-Es (BlazBlue CF/BBTAG): Aside from her cute anime girl and favorite I personally like her playstyle but also her move set are named after Arthurian Character and such which is just small detail which I like about her being an Arthurian mythos fan and she pretty fun to play in both games.
-Terry (KOF): I don't even have to explain to much but...come on its Terry. On of the most recognizable SNK characters and he's just gosh darn cool and iconic. I like my fair share of other SNK characters that I like too that I would, and some would also consider my mains too like King, Betty even Maxima in KOF. But you just feel cool, and I have fun when doing his special moves or at least I do and sometime say them in my head when I do them. When he got into Smash Bros Ultimate that's how I got into KOF because of it lol.

I’ve kinda always picked characters who are soft set-play characters who like to hit buttons as much as possible.
    - Jack-0 is my most successful character, as she got me close to the strongest players in my state. Could never quite break my plateau, but I still love Jack-0 a lot
    - Undernight was my game during covid, and Carmine was a huge part of my experience. I grew attached to his pinwheel move, and really learned the basics of fighting games thanks to the tutorials. I always play Carmine in tournament when I can, even if I didn’t end up buying the new version.
    - I’m including Smash cause it’s the only one I have 800 hours in. King Dedede is the grandfather of my playstyle preferences. He’s got a long reach, big damage, and gordos for him to do creative setplay stuff with. His rocket-hammer is also a fun knowledge-check at the ledge.
    - If Dedede is the grandfather of playstyle, then Mitsurugi from SoulCalibur4 is the great-grandfather of why I play fighting games. SoulCalibur4 was the game that my family would play for game-night, and I loved Mitsurugi’s aesthetic. Even if I’m not the best with him, I loved side-stepping and slashing foes with his samurai vibes. Maybe one day I can transfer that sort of love into Tekken 8… maybe…

Mk11 was my first fighting game(played it from May till August last year) and i love Cassie Cage and Kabal there, i don't rly know how to play them despite spending 70 hours on mk11(my most played fighting), because i was just goofing around, but i love everything about them. I also like Cammy from sf6 in terms of everything(lore, design, punches), but i don't rly play sf6 because sf6 has only 2 interesting characters(Cammy and Chun-Li) and rest of the roster is meh. And I got into Strive around this New Year just because of Bridget(it was first time i got into something only because of representation), but i ended up maining Testament because their aesthetic is fkin gorgeous
