- During the close down of the Peloponnesian metric gauge network, all MAN1 and MAN4 Dmus based at Kalamata Depot were led to Piraeus Central Depot (MPR) for protection. This is the last MAN4/IC Dmu that ran on the ''Peloponnesian rails'' in 2011. ALCo DL537 A.9105 was mobilised to transfer ALCo A.9107 (broken down since 2010) and MAN4 6504/5504/1504 from Kalamata to Aghii Anargiri station (northwest suburb of Athens - where the metric gauge line stops since 2005.) and then get to MPR by truck, following the other 18 units. ''Chasing'' the train from Corinth canal's bridge at Isthmus until Elefsina where we embark on the railcar and reach Ag.Anargiri. Enjoy the route and the sound of Hellenic DL537.

Very interesting and HISTORIC footage. Many thanks for upload.
Thank you again....you also have great time ''on the rails''!
good travel experience with the train, especially the view near the sea, I love it
Thank you very much Kai! As fas as the ship is concerned, i don't really know but it is many years there. I have heard that the authorities were afraid that the ship is going to sink so they tried to tranfer it to shallow waters but they didn't make it. The vessel end up at this position at Eftaxia near Loutropirghos. It is one of the highlight points at the old metric gauge line but actually....there are no any trains....! Thank you again my friend for your ''thumbs up''. :)
thank you for this wonderful video!👌

Graffitti everywhere..train, buildings, roads, walls.....
Very nice video!
Whats happen with the ship at 4:17 min ?
thumbs up and greetings
Kai
Did you video the early part of the trip from Kalamata?
Unfortunately, not! :)
are theese 2 locos needed for this short train??
One locomotive was not in operation and the DMU too. This was a special train to transfer the roling stock wich explains why it has two locomotives
Just puzzled why two engines are pulling only three coaches.
So Sad
Is it possible to walk this system now ? Is the line clear of obstructions? Especially in Peloponnese area !
Of course you can walk the entire network. Tough task but awesome!
@@TheHellenicTrainspotters Well l have a lot of time ,4 - 5 months maybe ? The track is clear of obstructions is it ? The Tunnels and bridges are safe ? l'm thinking of starting from Athens and walking to Korinthos ! ls the old line still there ? ls the old station still there in Athens? From Korinthos walking to Napfali ,then to Kalamata via Argos .Then from Kalamata to Korinthos via Patras. l am correct in thinking the line from Patras to Korinthos has been ripped up has it ? Then if l have got this far to Larrisa !
@@Sam_Green____4114 The west coast line will be very difficult to walk due to total abandonment. The east line is in better condition. In general is safe, bridges are still standing with their pedestrian crossing side and tunnels are still open. There is one place near Chranincillage, in south Arcadia where the line corridor has been destroyed by mountain slope.
@@TheHellenicTrainspotters Thanks for the info!
what happened with this ship?
it sank
Are these ALCos still functional?
Yes, they still are, but only 3 of them still operate in Peloponnese.
Αυτο το τρενο στο 2:00 θα πρεπει να ξεκινησε απο Πατρα πριν σαραντα χρονια.
