I am honestly blown away by the quality of this video considering the size of your channel and the fact you don't seem to have done many reviews before this one. However I feel like you're missing any base line. Like you should spend enough time with enough cars before you give a reliable opinion about what's good, what's not and what people should spend their money on. Everyone universally loves their first car, regardless of what it is. That being said, there's not much more to these daily commuters than fuel economy, comfort and price, so it isn't a big deal in this case.

Just been recommended your channel on my feed and I’m glad I came here! Already bought a new car (Ford Fiesta 2020 plate so slightly more expensive than the usual first car) but it was still handy to know your opinion! Thanks so much anyway and I hope to see more videos!!! 😁

My first was a 1.6 Mazda 3 too - absolutely embarrassed folk with that thing on B-roads. Throw it at a corner at whatever speed and plant it, fantastic thing. Weirdly big, too; cost me all of 300 quid in maintenance for all 4 years I had it

No way you only have 67 subscribers. Is this a second channel? This video seemed way to good. Also I love my Peugeot for the same reasons but it's a 308 with a 1.6 Diesel engine 😉

One thing you didn't mention about the mini: this gen's 1.6 comes from PSA (Peugeot/Citroën) and is generally referred to as "prince engines". They regularly make the car magazines' coloumns of "10/20 engines to never buy".
Off the top of my head I can't remember how and why they die, but I do know they do. Might wanna look into whether there is any preventative maintenance you can do.
Then again, at a price of 300 quid, who cares if it dies. Where I live, this same car would probably cost 3-5x as much, in which case a sudden engine death hurts a lot more.
At 300 per pop, who cares if you buy it with a fresh 12 month MOT and you never MOT it again. Chuck it in the scrapyard, get back most of your money and you will have driven virtually for free.
EDIT2: It would seem they started putting those engines in this car from 2006 onwards, but yours was 2001 I believe?
