  • PART 2 - Flashing the KT-LCD3 Display
If you haven't seen Part 1 then choose the link below, otherwise welcome back.
This video guide will take you through how to flash your new KT-LCD3 display which will replace your VLCD5 or XH18 stock display. The reason for the LCD3 is because it is needed to display more data like battery voltage and motor power which can't be displayed on the stock display.

    Hi John/JB,
I have watched several episodes on when you trim the Tongsheng TSDZ2. To do what you have done seemed too complicated for me! I decided to take a short cut. It cost money and didn’t work …
I bought the yellow box from Eco-ebike and used the APT burn tool with the latest bootloader from github. Result: The display is frozen and the screen reads: Keep pedals free and wait
I have invested a lot of time to fit the motor to a nice frame and really hope there is a fix.
    Ciao, Peter in Göteborg, Sweden

Hi Peter I’m sorry you are having problems. All I know is what is in my videos and the ktlcd3 display. Seems you have used an 850 or 860 so you need to follow the casainho 860 thread. Let me know if you can’t find it. Alternatively the guys at eco bike are very helpful maybe speak to them first. As always I recommend you try the stock motor first to make sure it actually works. I don’t know how to flash the 860 it seems hard to me I don’t think it’s worth the trouble. Maybe just go back to the stock display and use the mr brusa early firmware like c2. It uses a Java app to make all the changes.

@@peterwockatz6772 there are 2 possibilities maybe the cable is too long from motor to dongle. Mine is only 20 cm. Maybe use 3v line instead of 5v. Also it could be the pc. Windows 7 works better. One more thing maybe wiring is not right or your stlink wiring is labelled incorrectly

I am just wondering why the stm programs seem to vary? I dl'ed from the link given on gethub and it is a "utility", whereas eco-ebike gives links to a complete toolset with a different looking program utility. the latter never installs properly, in that I always get a failure of some type. any ideas? im on windows 10

Do i have to use the different Display if i Want to use the open source Software?

  • @jbalatutube

Just in case you are wondering the new display does come with a long cable. Some thoughts are that you can tuck n the old connector to the motor housing and splice into the existing wires on the controller so that we don’t need to cut any wires at all !

      Hi,
I just tried to update my LCD3 but unfortunately I got some errors:
Error : Cannot communicate with the device !
Check the SWIM cable connection and check all the needed pin connections on the SWIM connector.
If the application code uses Swim Disable and Reset pin as Output or has disabled SWIM Clock Divider:
Try Now to SWITCH OFF and ON the application Power Supply while NRST Reset pin is forced low.
Error : < PROGRAM MEMORY reading failed.
      Error : < Operation aborted.
Do you know how to solve that?

Make sure you are using a short cable. Also check you are using the correct software and select the correct protocol 105x6.. Are you getting power to the LCD ? Did you wipe the options tab first like in the video ? Your drivers may not be loaded properly. Use this as a guide. www.eco-ebike.com/blogs/eco-cycles-instructionals/tsdz2programmingfromscratch

Hi. Thanks for your videos. It was your review of the TSDZ2 motor with OSF that put me on to this option, and I'm glad I went this way. I'm wondering if you’re happy to flash other people’s motors? I have a TSDZ2 with an 850C display fitted to a recumbent trike. I want to update the OSF since I'm finding the version I have a bit buggy. Usually, I'm confident around this kind of thing, but after watching this video, I'm worried about taking the wrong step and ending up with a dead trike. Are you in the Sydney/Newcastle area?

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  3 роки тому

Sorry no I'm in Melbourne and I don't know anything about the 850C. They usually talk about the 860C but I have only ever used the kt-lcd3. You are better off asking in the forum. I would update to the new MrBrusa firmware rev 20.1C2 look up TSDZ2 for all displays in endless sphere.

You can only flash the ktlcd3 otherwise you need the Marco firmware. You flash motor only and change settings with a java front end

I’m pretty sure the original firmware is right protected so no, but the Opensource stuff is free to download so no need to copy, just need to match the version with the tsdz2, recommend v20b1 it went on very easy
