Goteks have sold out but I am getting another 5 ready. Please keep an eye on eBay (it should be a few weeks at least). Please send me a message if you’d like to reserve one.
Ha. I just sent you a message on Ebay. Thanks for the heads up :-)
I like the screen name!😎
You’re the best!!!
Sitting on my 3'inch floppy... LMAO Brilliant!!!
And it's got hard! 👍👍👍😂😂😂😜😜😜
It's 5,25" when it's not floppy
So wrong yet so right lol
Those 3” ones were rock hard, its the 5.25” guys that were the floppiest!
IKR, and I thought it was going to be one of Puppyfractic's dog boners!
I'm actually blown away by this. The graphics must have seemed incredible back in the day (they actually still look good now!)
I got here through 8-Bit Guy, stayed because of the wonderful narration of Hibernated and now I’m totally hooked because of your informative videos and witty humor!
Great to have you here! 👍🕹
Same here. I am now subscribed to the 8-bit guy and Retro Recipes.
Delightful! Ladyfractic is totally awesome, you should feature her more! :D
Thanks mate. Unfortunately unlike me she has a real job but she'll be back! 👍🕹️
I wonder if he gets more views when she’s on....
What a beautiful wife!
She needs her own channel... 😁
@@chris8139 Check out the views with her in the thumbnail vs. others... :D
Im just gonna say what everyone else is just skirting around saying. Ladyfractic is one damn fine looking woman.
Yes I agree 😊
More importantly she knows her Hardware !
i had some wako knees when i've seen ashley. she is soooooo cute omg....i love ashley
she is stunningly beautiful
Fitter than a Butchers Dog! 😜
Love the Bjork reference by Ladyfractic! 😂😂😂
I missed it, care to share, please?

I think about that Bjork interview all the time, too.
I miss old computers. Back when they were fun
I did inquire a while ago about the screwdriver sound fx and he did say Ladyfractic was the source, now I got to see her do it live! Awesome!
Confirmed!
Let's be honest here, Ladyfractic is an 11/10!
Agreed.
The squeaky sound is what put her over the top isn't it?
I think she's pretty awesome... but she's no soothing baritone.
She's super awesome and gorgeous, you should ask her out.
I'll have to ask my wife first
@@RetroRecipes you should divorce on the spot! Ladyfractic and you have so much in common!
@@Derisoireetsardonique BTW, Ladyfractic is my wife 😜
@@RetroRecipes then I wish both of you a happy life together!
Your amstrad was a TI-99 for me. I used to LOVE that old computer. Many many fond memories sitting at my fathers desk with him playing games together... Good times indeed.
glad to see your wife being a good sport with your quibs and her willing to help you nee to see if there are any classic computers she wants for lady fratic recipes
wow she was even being a good sport for you even being sick i know a lot people when sick dont want to do anything i know im one of them
8:46 How many times have I thought, 'It lives there now.'?
Used to spend hours and hours on it in the 80s and had graphics progs like AMS Stopress and you could get a scanner and lightpen with software,I used to be up at 3am producing club newsletters. Fascinating watching them printing out!
This is sooooooooo nostalgic. My folks had one of these too. For some reason I found it more interesting than my speccy. Used to spend hours fiddling with it.
Something to do with the hidden possibilities that made it tantalizing I think...
Don’t you mean “gnostalgic”? ;-)
Great video. I like the fact that you enlisted the help of Ladyfractic, she’s obviously a competent technician. As for the machine itself, I was surprised to see how well it played games.
Always thing fondly of Amstrad computers. Had a CPC464 with an external 3" drive and a few years later a 664 with the integrated 3" drive. All this talk of 3" disks brought back happy memories! :)
❤❤❤ Sold loads of these when I worked at Dixons back in the 80's.. didn't know you could play games on them.. could have been another selling point!
Love the crisp resolution the green screen provides when displaying graphics.
Aw man I laughed so loud at Lady Fractic's Bjork impression - so cool :)
The innuendo is hilarious!
This soothing voice. He truly is the Bob Ross of computers.
Starglider was my favourite game, too.
Thank you so much!
The Björk impression was very good!
Cool! I still love how you include the ladies and the puppies! Always a nice touch.
What are we without women and dogs...?
@@RetroRecipes Exactly! :)
Remember playing hitchhikers guide on my dad's old 386, good times
Oh you have a fully working amstrad pcw and a wife that does the unscrewing? Lucky.... so lucky 😝
So glad you finally got to play Starglider. Brilliant video Peri!
Thanks to you!! 💾👍 (Where's the 3" disk emoji?!)
Love the squeaks glass crashes and the puppy growl. :) OH and the video was good too.
There is something just awesome about my childhood era of gaming - green monochrome graphics just add to atmosphere - Love it 😍 thank you for sharing ⛩🎥🎬
They really do!
Always watch your videos when Ladyfractic makes an appearance, cute and funny, lucky guy.
Thanks lady fractic! That was a fun recipode!
This video is another great one and with Lady fractic involved I think it's a sweet thing that both of you share such a great hobby
I had a 8256 given to me by my grandfather when I was about 6 or 7. I loved that thing so hard. Used to write all sorts of silly stories and make basic games.
So, i was 14 or 15 years old and my father had a Schneider CPC (german Version of the Amstrad PCW). I learned Logo on the Schneider in the Holidays i spend by him. Didnt know there are games for this machine. very nice
I'm always amazed at how they got these computers to run such great games, on such tiny memory!
Cool episode guys ;)
You and your wife make an awesome couple! So great to see her on your videos! Content as usual is A+. And now we know the secret of your awesome sound effects.
I just realized how awesome that bass line is in the outro music...
Well done my dude.
Thank you for your kind words. Means a lot. 👍🕹
Interesting content, very entertaining for us geeks, and a very well produced video. As always, should I say...
1:30 I like how the dog begins eating it as if it is a treat
Wow, finally the day has come! Been looking forward to seeing this coming true for quite a while, since I knew it would be a thing at some point.
THAT AGE green visuals, r so gorgeous as epic. i´ll never forget those beautiful machines..
The PCW was a great computer - I have many happy memories of mine!
Wow. That mod was so awesome. Those games work amazingly well. Very cool. Ladyfractic is very capable. Squeaky screws! Very funny.
Very nice and interesting video (not only because Ladyfractic. Her cute sound effects sound great). That was the first time I saw such a computer.
The Fractic family keeps growing - keep up the great work 👍
Ladyfractic is like something from a fairy tale.
Im sure ive commented this before, but if there is one thing that gives me the nostalgias for my school days its these flippin word processors, they did cause the one and only time i got in trouble at school but i still have a soft spot for them lol
Wow, I had no idea such a wealth of high quality games existed for this! Great video!
Same, never had a clue and those graphics.
Good choice with StarGlider; I had it on the Speccy and was one of my favourite games.
My 6th Form college went all Amstrad with the 8256, 8512 and 9512 machines, so I have fond memories of them myself.
Lovely to see your Mrs joining the team too.
All the best.
Love the gotek display, something very satisfying about seeing the titles as you scroll through them lol
It's awesome to see more of the wife. Always great to get the family together with retro. Has a kid I used to take tv's apart not knowing about the crts stored electricity. Lucky I didn't mess to far into them.
Guy on a bootie in the 90s had a lot of these stacked up selling £20 each. I wasn't interested sadly at the time I had my windows 95
text adventures were so cool back then!
Excellent episode! LadyFractic nailed it! 😀👍
Lady Fractic is amazing with her skills.
As a (rare) American Atari ST kid, it’s really wild to see Starglider running on an 8080 CP/M word processor.
Nice. Thank you PF!
Absolutely fabulous you got LadyFractic to be in the videos too! Love the banter and the interaction. :)
Highly entertaining and informal as usual. Great channel this! Back in the days I got asked to translate the manual for the CPC6128 from english to swedish . Totaly unofficial job, it was the local computer store in town that wanted a swedish version to give to their customers. I was supposed to come to the store after school to do it, but after just a few nights I gave up, it was way too much work and that discstation was already gnawing on my hand...
Thanks Peri Chef I mean Per Gref!
Retro Recipes yeah sorry, should've read informative, not informal 😂
Perifractic I would be worried about job security if I were you! LOL Lady Fractic did an excellent job!
I am convinced that Lord and Lady Fractic are the most wholesome family on the entire internet.
Oh and the PCW games look awesome; i was particularly impressed by the pacman game.
Nice to see the PCW getting some love!!
Great to see a Design-Design game get some love!
Good teamwork!! I just enjoy my free Saturday even more, when watching your videos, simply great!!
Brought back some memories!! ;) my dad also had a PCW in his office, and I used to play some games on it when he was off, "Livingstone", "Sol negro" etc...didn't know about the "Starglider" version till now!! looks really superb for the machine it was, graphically nothing to envy to the ST version BTW, well...almost. LOL
*drops screw* "That's fine, it lives there now."
This is why my computer has a lot of screws rattling around when I move it.
That bit made me laugh quite a bit. Been there, done that.
It would appear Ladyfractic is actually the brains behind the channel, and Perifractic is just there for the good looks.
Nailed it
Very interesting the capabilities of a word processor. My dad had put together one of our early computers that had a Z80 processor and used CPM. This was in the late 70's and it didn't have the graphics this thing had. I really enjoyed this nostalgic video.
I think it's sweet that you can produce content together for the same channel like this. Every video has the same chill, wholesome humorous feel and it's always something interesting. Keep it up, all three of you!
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
The 3-inch floppy joke 😆
am I bragging when I say I have 3.5 inch
Awesome. Love how everything is so spooky in that vid.... colors, setting, sounds, old hardware, even that voice tone of the host. Oh lalala gearing up for nightmares tonite :/
I've been away awhile and decided to check out a video. I was not disappointed! I was happy to see your wife is just as silly as you! I'll be watching more from your channel again.
dude, love your channel...and wow, LadyFractic....you done good young man, youdone good !
I love this collaboration between the two of you as a couple. Awesome!
Thank you for your kind words. Means a lot. 👍🕹
We had one of these in my English class in school, wish I'd known you could get games for it ;)
Wow, cool. I need one of this PCW Gotek!
Very interesting machine. Thanks for the video.
10:10 OMG, what a stunning reveal, I never would have suspected that! :D You two are an amazing team, and Ladyfractic is an even more amazing team leader. 😂😂😂 Keep up the fantastic work, both of you (and Ashley, and Puppyfractic)! ^^
Aw dang! I had a 9256! I loved the PcW!
I always enjoy your videos and your music. Well done!
Ladyfractic is simply too amazing to be real...
Wifey is going to take over, bro 💍💍
But seriously... all of us retro doods would consider ourselves extremely lucky to have a significant other who is so supportive of our gaming hobbies. 👍👍👍👍
Joyce loves to play 👍
You all seem like really lovely people :) so nice to see you working together on the channel! all the best to you all :)
Thanks Johnny! 👍🕹️
Just found this retro channel! Really enjoying your videos!👍👍
Thanks and welcome!! 👍🕹️
Well done LadyFractic! The new drive looks amazing :-)
I was born in 1980, so started with 5.25" disks before moving to 3.5", and also messed around with a machine that used 8" disks, (and also I have used zip disks, etc) but have never seen those 3" disks before.
1:13 best moment ever ! hahaha
Ladyfractic did such a great job!
as always good video and sweet memories, take care
Another great video, happy Saturday to both you and the lovely lady fractic
I'm a little late to this Amstrad PCW party, but thank you so much for this video. Finally, someone else who has fond memories of the 8256! It was the successor to the Speccy in our house - a shame about the lack of colour, but I loved it nonetheless. The endless hours spent messing around in CP/M and Mallard BASIC. We were big fans of the Microdesign suite of software (MicroDesign, ProSCAN and Tweak) which meant we could do pretty advanced desktop publishing for back in the day. I remember typing out a Pirate-themed text adventure BASIC listing from a magazine and using the GSX extensions from Mallard BASIC to add in illustrations I'd scanned from pirate books from the local library using ProSCAN! This sated my programming appetite until my Amiga A500 arrived a few years later.
Loving the Bjork reference!
Hi guys, stumbled across your channel a couple of days ago and became heavily nostalgic after watching some of your videos ..all that beautiful equipment from the days of my youth ! :o)
- Ended up with a beautiful "like new" Amstrad PCW 8512 from an ebay auction where I spotted it accidentally..."Boxed, New old stock", everything untouched, amazing !!!
..looks like I have to come by from time to time...!
talented and beautiful -- ooooohhhh what a lucky man... he was!
I am really stunned by the graphics on this old computer! and say "woff" to PUPPY FRACTIC!! so lovely!! - think my puppy DEX is getting enticed by her! Levi
Ah, memories!
I had a Tatung Einstein CP/M with Z80 chip 16k RAM, 80 column green and 3 inch floppies, double-sided 1984 awesomeness :)
It's weird, I've been watching RR for years and never realized Perri was British until he said has a soft spot for the Amstrad.
Love your videos... absolutely amazing every time!
Thank you for your kind words. Means a lot. 👍🕹
That Björk reference was freaking gold 😂 every time I see that video of her... going over the crt parts… I feel like I’m tripping on acid. I think that’s the only time I’ve ever seen her face or heard her voice, and I didn’t really know anything about her I didn’t even know she was a singer. So when I first saw that video of her it was just so odd and hilarious.
OMG I adore your voice.! so buttery smooth and warm. I could listen to you all day. You could read me the phone book and it would sound great! Seriously, consider going into voice over work. You've definitely got it.
Thank you so much! Actually I've done a bit here in LA 😊 christiansimpson.com
