Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy this little video, dedicated to Mummyfractic on her birthday! 🎂
Happy Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary!
Many happy returns Mummy Fractic!
Happy birthday, Mummyfractic!!
I used to love playing Blitzkrieg and Buzzard Bait on my Laser 128 Apple 2e clone. Alas I only had a 1200 baud modem though so files would take ages to download from BBS's
Happy birthday to her!
I am impressed you can repair and troubleshoot these ancient computers. Must be a labor of love. I still have my commodore sitting around in my attic. Ahh, memories.
The world is a harsh place right now. Every time I read the news or even just go online, the current events in the world either horrify me or make me want to cry. Things are really bad.
And then there's Retro Recipes which, without fail, is an absolute delight. It's always both fun and educational, the subject matter is near and dear to my heart, and Peri, Lady, Ashley, and Puppy are all wonderfully charming.
Thanks for doing what you do. I'm going to go become a patron now. It's long overdue.
Thank you for your kind words and support! Means a lot 👍🕹️ And you're right. 🤎
Datan0de hang in there matey. Things go in circles. Political climate is the worst it’s been in my lifetime -
@@black_squall I'd rather be upset by reality and exhausted from working to make things better than have my head buried in the right-wing propaganda echo chamber and blindly supporting an authoritarian man-child who's an obvious puppet to a hostile foreign dictator. For all its challenges, I sleep well at night knowing I'm on the right side of history and won't have to make stammering, uncomfortable excuses when I'm old and younger generations ask where I stood at this pivotal moment in history.
But hey, you do you. Thanks for your "concern".
@@Datan0de Case in point.
2019 seems like heaven compared to what we went through 2020-22. Hope you are doing well Datan0de.
The first time I heard lady fractic "eee ooo" sound, my depression was cured !
I reckon Ashleyfractic snuck in and broke it, as revenge for you calling her nuts and causing global warming in her Wallmart 😄
I literally just watched this for the sound effects
Can someone make one of those 10 hour videos of just that bit on a loop please...?
I don't know you guys but i personally find his voice quite soothing.
"Mr Ladyfractic" lol. Ladyfractic is taking over! 😀
Peri knows his demographic enjoys the eye candy. Good marketing!
@@saganandroid4175 I think most of us enjoy the channel regardless but like the variety it adds to the content. Brought to you by PCBWay, and we all know PCB stands for Perfect Channel Balance.
@@saganandroid4175 both of them look like they could be models.
I wasn't going to watch this but when I noticed Lady Fractic was making an appearance I had to check it out.
She's too easy on the eyes to ignore. Not to mention the eee ooo sound effects! Lol
And those dance moves! 💃 lol
No retro recipes is complete without lady fractic 🙂
It's her channel, after all. :)
Maybe Puppyfractic thought that he was playing with a Commodore PET.. :D (apologies for the bad pun)
I live repairs like this they are so satisfying 😊
I was thinking "must be the heads that have not lifted or something" - always a relief when it's something as easily fixed as write protect sticker. Glue and plastic tend to cause a lot of problems as age sets in.
Puppyfractic may just be the most adorable pooch ever - she seems to have such a friendly disposision.
She's very special. Such a personality!
Ok... Confirmed: my favorite YT channel. Guilty dogs, squeeky sonuds, PCB Ways, good music, Lady “repair wizard” fractic, Ashley and soooo much going on.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
Thank YOU!
Playing Frogger w/Mum... rofl. Nice fix Lady F. Excellent squeeky screw sfx everyone. Definitely "emew". Your computer room looks really colorful and excellent. Excellent video, once again.
You should make a video repairing, cleaning, etc some old hardware with no talking, only tools and brush sounds. Very ASMR. That said, it was great to see Ladyfractic doing some work on old hardware. Awesome video!
It's like papa always said:
Get a girl who will make sound effects in regular life.
Always said.
…or one who can fix an Apple II disk drive. Either way.
I just LOVE that you involve your dog as you doo, the PUPPY FRACTIC!! watching this episode with my puppy DEX!! - (and he really looks at the screen..:) and you have a lovely LADY FRACTIC wife too!
Puppyfractic says hi to Dex!
@@RetroRecipes that did it! We subbed! 🐕 Dex pressed the button!
Fun vid! As the saying goes, "teamwork makes the dream work!"
I played the heck out of that Frogger port on my Apple II+. It was one of the few games I had because back then, my software choices were limited to whatever I was able to copy from my friends. I did manage to build up a decent game library, though, most of which still works today! 👍
Ladyfractic is such a good sport. I enjoyed this video; hadn't seen inside a Disk II, didn't know about Blitzkrieg, or the speed calibration.
7:40 That's her best performance of this vocal part to date
2:29 "Aaay awww aaaay awww!"
I'm dead. That is hilarious.
Cool ! Great equipement ! I remember those machines as if it were yesterday.
2:37 Man this time you almost got someone killed of laughing somewhere in Brazil..
LMAO
Happy birthday Mummyfractic!
Just found you guys. I have found my home! Your shelves look like my vintage computer collection.
this woman needs her own channel
This is her channel 😉
I would back those old games up. Those floppies seem so easy to ruin.
Ladyfractic, listen up. "RUST NEVER SLEEPS"
Even though Puppy doesn't opposable thumbs, she's got great taste in retro computers! :)
I see you did a little foreshadowing in The 8 Bit Guys video ... well played, Perifractic.
Well spotted
So I wasn't going crazy.
Glad to see all of you again! :)
1:45 "Thanks to Mister Ladyfractic" :D
Your family is so funny .. I am in love.. with all of you, Puppy Fractic included .
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
Brings back great memories of when I repaired Apples and Commodores. I used the alignment disk and the hertz wheel on the disk drives. The hertz wheel worked best with a fluorescent lamp that I kept on my workbench.
Another winning video. ; )
I'm loving the new, "Dynamic"; The regular addition of Puppyfractic and Ladyfractic make your shows un-missable, "Must-See-TV"! Good job! ... oh, and thanks! :-) xo
Cheers Carolina!
Ahhh !! How can you blame the poor dog ??? Look at her face !!!!
10:43 And it feeds itself, just like Perifracitc. LOL!!
I do!
awesome. yeah I always adjusted via the timing marks with a fluorescent light. BTW if you want to use Locksmith to create copies then you should tune your drive down to about 280rpm instead of 299. The slower rotation rate allows time for writing longer tracks, and lots of disks were copy-protected by writing tracks that were longer than could be written at 300rpm. 280rpm-written disks will still read fine in a 300rpm-calibrated drive.
Perryfractished into discombobulation, haha! Nice restoration.
came for the drive disk repair. stayed for the screw sound effects.
Another awesome video. So great to come home after a long day at work and have a new video! Hope Mummyfractic had a wonderful birthday!
Haha thanks! 🎂
@@RetroRecipes Looking forward to bringing more support to your channel.
Loved that as we know size does not matter and then "FEW" 🤣🤣🤣🤣😉
As an Australian, I feel as though I have the authority to make a ruling on the pronunciation of 'Emu'. I have to say that Perifractic pronunciation is correct, but we still love Ladyfractic anyway. :)
In America we also say Emu (ee-myou) as Perifractic. Not sure where she learned how to say it (ee-moo) lol. When I was a kid I worked in a safari (at an amusement park) where the emu would come up and try to steal the disposable cameras as I was reading the Bible. lol
15:20 the ADTPro DSK image transfer part was fascinating! I'm still having trouble converting SCP images into DSK images.
That pompadour is on point.
you two's interactions are really cute and funny!
Well, live and learn. I use computers since the 80s and first time I heard of calibrating a floppy drive. Thank you very much.
I have to say you two are quickly becoming my favorite retro hardware channel. Intelligent, funny, relaxed and easy on the eye. (it never hurts).
14:52 I bought this product a few years ago, thinking it would be great for showing items when doing videos. POS.
Fun video. And yes I know I have fallen behind.
Lady fractic.... beautiful
New subscriber and binge watching your videos! Really love the combination of amazing tech projects and humour. Also: really nice video editing.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
Another brilliant recipode Chris - nicely done to you, LadyFractic and PuppyFractic :)
Many thanks from all of us! 👦🙋♀️🐶
I watched till 11:30 but then some weird guy took over. The Lady part was awesome though.
It's ok I've fired him now
Pathetic.
Yeah bring back the professional!
Lol
Yeah lady parts are awesome 😅
You two are nutters. Thanks for making my smile this morning:)
Happy birthday Mummyfractic ! Cheers!
Puppy fractic the true star of the show lol .
Never saw apple 2s has a kid guess it was more a southern thing . I do want one now though lol .
Apple //e disk fun!
Thanks for the video. I still have my original Apple II. Back in the day, it took over two years for the "WOW factor" to subside. Which for me meant that every single day for over two years I was totally obsessed with the Apple II. I literally spent 6-8 hours per day sitting in front of it discovering what it could do, or playing games, or programming, etc. It was a bottomless pit...lol
I, always enjoy your show, great team works, creative ideas and useful tips. :)
Thanks! 🙌
you owe poor puppyfractic a doggy treat for blaming him for what happened to your disk drive. or give him to me lol
LadyFractic - saviour of the Frogger! All hail LadyFractic!!!
Scottch tape....i want one of those wire brushes, palease. Ooooh, beauty and mad skills. Killer Kombo..(yep, still working through your catalog of vids)
Keep going 🍾😉
That dog loves you so much
Ladyfractic is so cool....
I think I'm in love. That A500 looks awesome!
😉😉😉
Hey cool, never noticed that Astro Wars console up there before...I had one of those when I was a lad, more years ago than I care to count!
Probably from Argos!
Also with the contact cleaner I like how you didn't say it is WD40. That is just because it is easy for someone to make the mistake of trying to use the penetrating oil they are more known for. That might make a mess and even cause damage to a lot of things. I wonder how well that contact cleaner compares to DeoxIt.
Laffin' when you point at your Atari shirt while saying this episode is "Apple-inspired". 🤣
🤦♂️ Puppyfractic picked out the accessories 🐶
love this channel! brings back my childhood
That is why I never liked those Apple IIe's, they always attracted WORMS!!
Great video Fractic family, thanks for sharing.
I traded my Disk 2's for 1/2 height teac direct drives, when I had an Apple 2+... also had a zip chip & cider 20MEGABYTE hard disk... Ran it until I needed to upgrade for college courses I was taking. Then I got an Amiga 2000hd.... didn't run windows until 1998 :)
I just love this channel. Idk... it's just super relaxing.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
The pupper just wanted to play some retro apple games!
OMG, Blitzkrieg! I loved that game as a kid! I agree, that game has the best sound effects! Sabotage wasn't too shabby of a game either. 🤘😎
I'm amazed other people than just me were playing it! 👍🕹️
Dead worm? You'll regret that! Fun and informative, I loved it - even the silent screw. ;) Oh, and there seems to be something wrong with your transporter beam at 13:11 :D
Haha yeah that was actually a clock wipe but looked funny so I left it in.
Well done! Great show! But now you're just messin wit me! NO WATCH?!?! I'm sticking with the clone theory as a clone might require some sort of wireless information exchange to convince us that she was indeed Ladyfractic!
Seriously, good show. We got drama (sad when Puppyfractic was guilty, happy when it wasn't his fault ; sad when floppy was damaged, happy when it was just the wright protect), education (differences between belt and rubberband; emoo / cow, emu / bird, and emew /cat; contact cleaner and contact lens cleaner; bottoms up and bottoms down) and maintenance information (calibration with screen or moving bars).
I always enjoy. Thank you.
JT
Haha thank you so much. Good summary! Keep watch-ing...
I just pick up from a local person a working apple iic, monitor and printer for $250. I pretty good price. And I thought I bet RR could help me figure out how to get some games on this great machine. Love your show :). And voila! Not sure how I missed this video as I am sure I have watched most of them. thanks again :)
The rights holders have asked me not to make my archive available as it is still their intellectual property. I can share how I got it working. Thanks also to Dan Wood and John McDermott.
1. Download the Workbench 1.3 LHA from WHDLoad official site. Note this is just a wrapper and doesn’t include WB itself.
2. Extract the LHA on a real Amiga or UAE, copy your working Workbench 1.3 entire file system into it, then archive it all back to LHA format.
3. Edit the xml file that you extracted onto your USB drive from RGL website and add Workbench there with a name that matches the Workbench LHA. See other entries in the xml for the correct format. Programs must be in there to work.
Hope this helps! Perifractic
Nice collaboration
You guys are hilarious. This screw is silent... ahhahahaaa
She is such a delight Buy that woman a diamond!
Been there diamond that 💒
I have heard about tape worms, but never before have i heard of a floppy worm.
The skrew sound effect always makes me think of Worms een moving
Lady Sainty Fractic is positively radiant with her Elvis quiffy doo. Could this mean Bebe Fractic is more than just a twinkle in his/hers/its father Fractics eye? 🤔
No sign of a Babbyfractic yet...
Retro Recipes Well Puppy Fractic makes a good substitute in the meantime. 👍
Och 😍sweet doggie :) PET the sweet doggie! 😍 Greetings from Poland :)
Greetings from California 👍🕹️
@@RetroRecipes :)
It's actually 115,200 bps = bits per second. Baud is a term related to accoustic modems. Some modem standard made 2 bits per baud, which meant they used 4 steps of phase shift (2 bits make 4 values) for every sine wave. But for some reason people stated to confuse baud and bit rate.
The patrician response. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
I think I don't speak for only myself when I say "we'd like to see more bloopers!" 😁
Awesome video once again. Lady Fractic really adds some extra flavours to the recepodes. It's fun to see this kind video making.
Keep up the awesome work. I'll keep watching the awesome work! 😁 👍🏼
If Ladyfractic allowed her nails to grow she could be a hand model. She has lovely and delicate looking hands.
Actually she has done some hand modeling for commercials you have likely seen 😊
Fantastic content thank you for sharing your skills with the world
You can replace the write protect tape with almost any other tape, it will work just as well. A good tape to use would be black duct tape or even better a foil tape just for that extra bit of stability in the tab.
Nice bass screw.. but the silent screw didn't want to stay silent going back in....odd. Also the 80s.. back when you could use the same two screwdrivers for everything... even your Apple.... and ahh.. the sweet sound of Apple II frogger music... Also the last game makes it pretty clear that the apple had to use its cpu to toggle a bit to make the sounds.
I was thinking about where I just saw your haircut before... now I got it: Ace Ventura!!!
When I first found out that I could download games from the Internet to an Apple //e via my iPhone and an audio cable, Frogger was the first game I tried. Thank you for the USB-Serial link. ADTPro over the audio interface is neat, but it sure is slow.
Is that possible with the c64? 😯
Is that possible with the c64? 😯
I see Ladyfractic, I click…
Then I get a little self-conscious and I blush…
Apologies for clicking on Ladyfractic... I should have asked first!
Just don't be a clickhead
I only subscribed for the screwing sounds.
To the penalty box you go for using the Atari 400 as an Apple disk drive stand! For shame, Good Sir, for shame!
I'm now recalling memories of my small K-8 school district having a mix of Disk Drive IIs, the later 5 1/4" white-ish disk drives, and the Duo Disks. They all had the official 80-column cards and later 128K RAM upgrades, but nothing cool like the Super Serial Card. The monitors were a mix of green screens and color monitors. They were all Apple IIe models except for the front office which had a //c to input and save the daily attendance records. I certainly preferred them to the computer lab full of Trash-80s at the local community college which ran a youth "computer summer school" program devoid of anything remotely resembling fun.
Excellent!
Puppyfractic is an important part of the team
The most!
Great stuff. I really need to transfer some software to my IIc.
Great voice over work on Infinity Wars. Yes i relay do rely on Audio Descriptions.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
@@RetroRecipes I had a thunk today.
There are so many places to say how you like X and want X more.
And i'd love to here you doing more description work on netflix. Would you know where i can do this?
Yes i am visually impaired You can see me on my YT channel even tho the videos are old (i can no longer tell when im in focus so i stopped until i can get a cataract fixed to bring back what little i vision i can use)
@@Zagroseckt the best advice I can give is start by making a demo voice over reel and then get yourself on a website like voice123.com. Good luck!
@@RetroRecipes I ment i wanted to promote you :) i like your work want more of it.
@@Zagroseckt oh lol. That's very kind! I can't think of any direct way. I guess there's the IMDb forum associated with my entry... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
One of the most nostalgic memories from my childhood was stuffing a little wad of paper between the pause button and the housing for the Amstrad CPC 464 in order to slow but not stop the tape cassette read speed and allow what I thought at the time were somehow corrupted tapes to load. My dad had purchased several compilation sets of games (like 40 games over 4 tapes) and none of the damned things would work. I'm wondering now if actually we could have just calibrated the tape playback speed :/ Oh well, thanks to Emus I was able to finally complete M.O.V.I.E. and GAME OVER (hell of a loading screen on that one if you're an 11 year old going through some stuff!) and if I ever buy another 464 I'll know what to try next!
That silent screw wasn't silent going back in. ;-) Mind you, silent screws can be very difficult and usually awkward for all involved.
I used to play that version of Fogger at my friend's house.
