I'm joined with @jenpachi2408 to talk about Starfield, we go over the typical Bethesda bugs and glitches that this game definitely has, we get into the low standards people have with AAA games like this.
It seems to many out there that Starfield is a crowning achievement in gaming despite it not being everything it was hyped up to be, and we get into the woke nonsense that's crammed in this game, even though a lot of Bethesda apologist will claim Starfield is not woke at all or is just a little woke and it's no big deal, despite there being proof online showing the woke garbage in Starfield.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the video, I know it's pretty long but we tried to get into as much detail as possible and try to cover what we wanted to discuss about Starfield and the controversy surrounding it.

But Microsoft/Xbox has been on a decline for years and still is on a decline, and Starfield is still a woke, glitchy, mid tier, sloppy mess.
Good to hear your arguments, i agree with your points. the biggest tragedy of the gaming industry is not bad games, is the players who keep buying garbage, it is because of them that we get bad games. when i saw how many people are playing starfield i was very disheartened, two hundred thousand people playing that game just goes to show how people have no standards. And don't get me started with influencers, their resolve is non existent and they are a bunch of consumers.
Agreed hopefully more people speak up and start to think and become more introspective with what they consume in the future.
@@Phantom_Zer0 Couldn't agree more. this only happens in the video games sector. I always put this example: Imagine you go to a restaurant, you order a steak, and they serve you rotten raw fish. You complain, and then they call you all of sort of names, starting with "fishphobe", that you hate people who eat fish, and a lot of other BS. Would you come back to that restaurant? Well, gamers will, and do, over and over again, for some reason.
Many of them are youtuber or influencer wannabes who will spend thousands of bucks on a console from scalpers just to be the firsts and get likes. Consoles with the most outrageous TOS ever. They don't care. They will buy every game just to stream and to try to be the next Piewdiepie. They will put the kneepads on to suck on these companies months before the game's launch just to get some kind of partnership or special treatment. The cringe I've experienced, watching almost every channel under the sun doing free advertisement of Starfield, disguised as """hype""", dude, it's been hard to watch. I unsubbed from channels that I never thought they could turn that way. All of them praising the game, daily, without being out yet, all for the sake of content and big corp treats.
Yeah, and none of them, no one, addresses the woke elephant in the room. Cowardice at its best.

Yeah but look at it like this; starfield is full of characters that were clearly promoted to their positions because of a quota system. Completely unqualified for their positions. How can we tell? The entire economy and society is stagnated. No advancement, no exploration, no individual drive to excel or question or learn. Example; look at all the abandoned structures literally fifty feet from undiscovered fauna and flora. Scientists didn’t even look out the window and snap pictures of the plants and animals. It’s a story of a society in a death spiral.
I've been gaming since I was six on an atari 2600, and that character from the crimson fleet is the worst character I've ever seen ot heard.
I couldn't wait to kill her at the end of the quest, but nooooo.
I normalized skipping these AAA releases, saving money, and enjoying some actually good classic games.
Same, there's something about games from past gens that most current AAA games don't have.
Maybe it's passion over greed, the drive to innovate and take risk over following trends, whatever it is, it's missing in a lot of current games.

I gave up on a lot of franchises that I followed for years because they went woke or they got lazy. I no longer pay full price for new games or go to the movie theaters anymore. I'll probably eventually play these games or watch these movies, or I won't. It's not that important to me anymore. There's plenty of alternative entertainment out there that's worth my money. Usually it's the alternatives that the mainstream outlets tell me is "bad."

That's why I mainly watch old shows and movies, same with games, because back then it wasn't about cramming ideological nonsense going above everything else.
Not to say everything current is terrible but for me, it's hard to get excited for new products, instead I'm more couscous about new products because of what has been going on for years.

No joke, that's why I bought a Switch. All my favorite classics (save for Oblivion unfortunately) are available there. I can play the South Park games, or KOTOR 1&2, or Skyrim or FFX and FFXII. I can get their online service and go even further back to the N64 and earlier if I want. I am currently playing Dragon's Dogma, Witcher 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2. If I wanna play Diablo 2, it's there. If I wanna play Persona, it's there. If I wanna play a Star Wars game, they have a few available. There's a lot of choices available and they're the only console supporting artistic integrity (no censorship) and the only console selling hentai games, if you're into those

The woke insertions in the game are hilarious, but for an unintended region. Girl bosses and social promotions infect every faction throughout the settler systems. It’s a brave new world….and a totally stagnated culture. The Milky Way is roughly 100,000 light years wide and human society has meekly given up on expansion and exploration to squat in their roughly 70 settled systems. Woke philosophy has neutered the human race. New Atlantis feels like some sad 15 minute city built around a tree where nothing gets done but everything is very diverse.

Not only is this 💩 of a game woke AF, but it exposes those who claim to be "anti woke", yet their statements on how it "isn't woke" says otherwise.
Amongst them are MugenLord and CultCassieCage, the latter more so than the former. She was very smug about it too, claiming that she's "always consistent", but as a wise man once said "Any man who must say 'I am the King' is no true King.", and that definitely applies to her.
It's EVERY BIT as woke as Hogwarts Legacy and the Bear mating simulator I SHAN'T name. It's just that they're not as IN YOUR FACE about it as most woke games are.

It's just the lack of consistency, and him believing that something "isn't woke" or whatever, has him lose a lot of credibility, despite the good points he does make. Thank you and I agree with the points you made, I've seen some of those people defend Starfield and get at HeelVsBabyface yet claim they are tired of the woke nomsense in media.
It doesn't make them look consistent but rather it makes them look like they can be compromised if it's something they like.
And I can understand if people choose to walk away from those individuals because pretending Starfield is not woke and making excuses for it and going after anti woke people is a bad look for those who claim to be against the woke crap.
Staying silent or taking issue with people talking about the wokeness in mefia does not make any of this go away, it feeds into what the woke weirdos try to do, that is continue to ruin entertainment and society.

The statement "soulless" is the best description of this game i think. I did "borrow it from a friend", deleted it from my drive 20h later. I felt nothing playing it. Story was uninteresting, characters bland(also half of them talking like theyre reddit moderators), the planet exploration is a joke, performance on a Ryzen 5600 and RTX 3060Ti is abysmall, especially in the cities. There wasnt one memorable moment in the 20h that i played, i dont remember any. I dont remember half of the characters, and i played it a week ago. I was falling asleep while playing. Im not even talking about the bugs, or the woke stuff - putting all that aside, the game is just simply put, "soulless". Maybe it will become playable in like 3 years, with all the DLC and mods that will come out, right now its not worth 100GB of hard drive space, let alone my time.
It does seem soulless, I watched a few reviews and people streaming the game, and other than a few hectic fire fights, it looks pretty bland and stiff, I can see how people would get bored of Starfield after a few hours.

One of my friends used act man to defend this game, even said people are installing mods to make the game ugly on purpose. The game looks very meh regardless.

Character Customization nowadays... you can create some of the most disgusting creations but you can't specifically create sexy women, unbelievable. What if women want to create sexy women!

I always get disappointed everytime I see a game that interest me and when I heard gatch, live service, online, etc. I tend to reject it. I only got into a couple which was League of Maidens and Action Taimanin. I barely play Action Taimanin and I dropped LOM after playing for a few hours. And now 2 new games sort of interested me were Project Mugen and The First Decendant. I tend to not get attached to these games. I'm glad I never spent any money on them. I'll try since they're free. I'll never buy a live service game. I hate that if I want good looking characters, I have to play live services now. I mainly look at live service as a means to bankrupt the Triple Aids industry now. Not as an alternative.
Now I'm mostly focused on making my own stuff and playing older games I'm basing my projects off of and mostly ignore the industry and hope and wait for the collapse. I only hope that the industry doesn't collapse until at least one of my projects is completed.
Project Mugen and The First Descendant looks really good, especially Project Mugen, I hope they both turn out well.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see another gaming crash because of how things have gotten in the industry, so many games trying to nickel and dime people, that or it's unfinished while people spend $60 or $70 to be a beta tester.

They've gotten too comfortable with the nostalgia bait and ESG funding and keeping them alive.
It's going to be a very tough road. Especially for the big one I really want to make. Since the games I want to make aren't being made anymore. So it'll be difficult. But I'm sick of waiting and hoping and start taking some action. I appreciate the help. I hope to not disappoint, lol.

Next gen means everything is better, not graphic, the game needs to load better, animated better, less bug, more freedom and more creative feature that is no possible, like floods, simulations, not whatever Starfailed is.
The rubbish they put in, was honestly something I was expecting.
HOWEVER, what I was NOT expecting was something I saw recently as of writing this comment (21st September, 2023 for anyone who sees this in the future) that was shown on a 4chan thread.
Apparently, the reason this game has so much trouble running on various PCs and other peoples hardware is because the actual models, from people to objects, are made in the most inefficient usage of polygons possible. Like, a box, made in a cube, one of the most braindead simple and efficient shapes known to mankind, was made with 11000+ polygons. I'm not a 3D modeller and even I immediately realized that doesn't sound right, and according to my friends who have dabbled in 3D work, they said yes, this is comically inefficient and inept to an absurd degree. Really, the guys on that thread literally modded it to reduce the polygons (which were triangles by the way) by like 8000 without really changing its appearance, and it was less memory demanding. And so many damn models are like this and not optimized well to run across a variety of PC rig types (and Todd has the balls to say people oughta upgrade their PC rigs). Who the heck did Bethesda hire for the past 6 years for this production? Unpaid interns? Janitors? The ghostly spirit of Bethesda Studios?
They got those diversity hires out of college makes sense why the game was so damn inefficient, imagine they hired experienced veterans in the game industry, smh.

After Skyrim's success, Bethesda should have made a new engine, but the fact that they are still using the same old dusty engine shows how little they care.
They've been phoning it in since they found out they could get away with milking the engine and their fans if they actually cared they'd get a new engine and not pander to esg

But Bethesda investing in a new engine would help them in the long run, and since they have Microsoft backing them up, they could afford to create a new engine from scratch.
It's not the engine that is fault chap this is not the same engine that made Bully , that would be like conflating UE1 with UE4. Have you ever bothered to look under the hood, if you had you would see how under utilized it is and how badly managed the design teams must be. They could have done a lot more and could have done it in a much more efficent manor ; their scripting is just a dirty mess for Starfield, but choose not to.
How much of that is due skill , time constraints , budget constraints or management we won't ever really know without insider info but it does not help that they seem to design a console game first then try to tack on extra for PC rather than the other way around which just means a worse end product for both platforms.
I’m not excusing it or nor do I like it but they’re called Bugthesda for a reason, but honestly this looks more buggy than some other stuff I’ve seen from them.

I wish we could just go back to the PS2 era of gaming. None of this, just awesome games worth buying. It is one of the main reasons I still play my PS2 more than any current system.
Gaming definitely needs to go back to that, I agree, the PS2 era was a great time to be gaming, so many great games before everything started to feel commercialized.
Though the PS3/360 era was great in it's own ways, I go back to PS2 games and 360 games often because of how things have been with modern gaming.

Borderlands 3. That was the game that made me to flip the table and say I'm done with this BS. No more wokeness in my life. I won't support companies that hate me. Of course this game was going to be woke, it's triple A crap. Yet, some people still think they are going to enjoy a video game without being lectured. HeelVsBabyface, he's right, but come on man, you KNEW it was going to be that way, it was obvious from the trailers, and the "checkbox people" from Bethesda talking about the game.

One of the things that really pisses me off about Starfield, is that you can tell that most of the reviewers who have made a negative review, they hate wokeness but they won't address the elephant in the room because they are just cowards. That's a forced acceptance of the lunacy, like nothing happens. They are complicit. This is one of the best points of this video: people who claim to be anti-woke, but they consume all the woke products, from Disney, to Gillette. "bu bu but the product is goood!!"... These people have no principles. They are throwing their money to the people who hate them. I have no Netflix, no disney and associates, I don't buy Star Wars games or watch their movies or shows anymore (not even under the "jolly roger"), I don't buy games like this... I don't know when was the last time I saw a white NORMAL (I fkg hate the term "traditional") family in a video game, a movie, or a show. And for the good guys, you've got withe/straight/male, you can pick 2 of them, not the 3. And where are all the kids in these games? Where are the families?? However, the fact that, according to you, the argument that has been used for decades now, that if you want to criticise something honestly you need to experience it for yourself, is now disingenuous is an actually disingenuous way of ignoring the argument.
One of the major things i did not like about the game is how they downgraded the faction system.
1. No ranking system
2. Can’t be leader at the END of questline
Idk why Bethesda chooses to water down their games, taking away features that were in previous games for no good reason.
Faction quests were some of the more memorable moments in Bethesda games and now it's bare bones and probably forgettable.
The game is badly boring, so loading screens ontop of a boring game is wayyy more noticeble. Charactere are all boring, the pacing sucks, way to many missions and side quests where you just walk around the entire city talking to people, and by the time you get a quest to go shoot stuff, the loading screens ruin it.
It really is like that, I've seen reviews and live streams of the game and overall it seems lackluster and makes it more baffling that so many people are going hard protecting this slop.

The problem is, they are using established, existing high-profiles franchises to put their agenda on those games, like the recent Spiderman 2, Alan Wake 2 (after 15 years), God of war (it happens with Ragnarok), Studios like Rocksteady with Suicide Squad, and so on. They just need to make their OWN games with all of they want, rather than destroying OUR and established franchises

The pronoun thing didn't bother me as it was a choice and companies do have to cater to everyone, but the amount of same sex couples in this game would explain why there's only a handful of cities hundreds of years in the future... no one is reproducing. LOL. And of course they kill the str8 white male... Also, the amount of features that are broken is crazy, can't transport people cause they get stuck on the ship, can't rename ships, can't cargo link, can't land on landing pads, can't have companions at outposts cause turrets will shoot them, and the loading screens, holy cow! I like the game and I try to ignore the woke junk and work around the broken stuff, but 2 out of 3 people has 2 moms or is in a same sex relationship... it's shoving it in my face and that's annoying. I kinda laugh it off as, oh, the human race decided to die off slow by not reproducing (Evident by the lack of kids) rather than die off with Earth.

For some reason studios love chasing an audience that never really cared for their products, while disregarding the fans that have been there from the start.
The main thing that's annoying to me about the "is it woke" discussion surrounding Starfield is that from day 1 people have focused on the pronoun thing. The pronoun thing is the games smallest sin with regards to wokeness. It's a single option that you have to intentionally click on during character creation in order to even see it and then it never comes up again. If we can say that the Holy Trinity of the religion of wokeness are feminism, race, and LGBTQI++WTFBBQ, the game is MUCH more woke on the first two fronts than the last one. I don't understand why people have burned so many calories talking about the pronoun thing when there are much more fertile grounds for complaint here.
The pronouns is not the only thing that makes the game woke, I agree with that and there's more issues with Starfield besides the wokeness, such as the glitches and other technical issues.
There's also the fact that everything about the game looks dated and not at all next gen, which makes it bizarre there's people putting Starfield on a high pedestal and undermining it's glaring issues.
I’m a white man in my middling 30’s. I’ve been a consistent gamer since I first played Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Sonic on my Sega Genesis. The only thing I can say about modern gaming is that I really cannot be bothered by the “woke” s**t. I don’t mind seeing girl boss, trans, gay, or any other alternate ideologies in games. As long as the characters are well written and believable, the gameplay is tight and responsive, and the ability to be able to play the game without feeling like my time is being wasted. I don’t have time to really give a s**t about neopronouns and conflicting ideologies. The biggest sin in modern gaming is not wokeness, it’s corporate greed and publishers blatant disrespect for their customers time. Only problem I have with “woke” characters, is that they all seem like they are just inserted in with no real thought about narrative progression and how does this character make sense in this world. As far as the pronoun stuff goes, I roll my eyes as much as the next person even my brother and law who is a transgender man doesn’t even agree with a lot of the neopronouns. In my opinion it’s simply a matter of respect and common courtesy and I refer to you however you want to be referred to. I guess all I’m trying to say is just make complete games again. I think both the woke and anti-woke sides are better at pointing out problems than coming up with solutions. I don’t think any one stance has all the answers, I just know that we’re all better together than we are apart. Sorry this was long, I just don’t like seeing all this divisiveness. I’m not against social issues and people advocating for themselves but I’m also not for limiting free expression. I thought these guys made some good points I just think they were a bit combative and hyperbolic about the state of the world, because in reality most of this doesn’t matter and you only see these issues online.

Great discussion, i agree with your points, i am very extreme with my convictions and if something goes against what i know to be right and true and pushes poisonous propaganda i stay way. I can't play it as I don't have the right console or PC but I have been watching playthroughs. I am reminded of different games, The Outer Worlds, Fallout, Skyrim etc. It appears to be a mishmash of the same ideas as in the past but with a new coat of paint. I'm glad I didn't pay for a new system to buy it, I'm not impressed at all. especially with no ground vehicles, Mass Effect even had ground vehicles. They've gone backwards imo.
When it comes to unfinished games that they say the fixes will be in at the next update, well, I don't pay full price for a car where the brakes don't work and wait for a tech update. I know that's an odd comparison but I refuse to pay full price for something that is unfinished or has bugs, they had enough time to iron those out with testing. It's just lazy.

It's ridiculous people that have good PCs that could easily run games at high settings with no problems, but a 2023 AAA game by Bethesda can't run properly.
I'm not defending it but baldur gate genitalia option was added due to people demanding it in Early access, i've been playing it for long time and seen dnd community feedback who wanted that.

People have been asking for Face Sliders for a long time. We didn't get that, instead we got Genitalia Options for the One Handers. Larian can do Face Sliders (after all, those are just Morph Targets/ShapeKeys/Blendshapes, which Larian is ALREADY using for Facial Animations), but Larian just doesn't want to do it for the dumbest reason possible. They literally outed themselves.
They said "most fine-tuned characters that players spend hours making look very similar in the end. 'So we wanted to avoid that. And if we would make sliders, we needed to make it into something that would be truly unique and wouldn't look the same.'" in a interview.
I'm assuming the faces they want to avoid are Attractive Eastern Style Faces. Such as Cloud Strife, Tifa, Lightning, almost any Korean and Chinese game. Even the Lies of P characters look good, but Bear Gate 3 doesn't want to give you that option. Ironically everyone looks the same now because they're all presets with no Face Sliders to make alterations. You can probably find an MMO with better Character Creation. So that really shows me where their priorities are at. I'm glad I refunded the Game. If I can't stand looking at my character for a 60+ hour long game, it'd be a waste.
The game doesn't even have Height Sliders (it doesn't need to be extreme height differences), and before people say "it would mess up the animations" well games already figured it out for years. Halo has been using IK goals since the first game to deal with various weapon lengths to get the arms and hands positioned right. Dragon's Dogma did the same for all of their animations and that game you can go REALLY Small and REALLY Tall in that game. Various game enemies also use the same system. You can watch their GDC talk about it if you want. It's on UA-cam.
In most games Body Sliders are just adjusting the Size of bones so you don't need to re-rig or re-skin weight all the clothes. Games have been using this simple and easy solution for many years. Phantasy Star Online does it, Dark Souls does it, even Halo does it. Most of the female marines have the male marines Skeleton but Smaller so they reuse all the same animations using Animation Inheriting. If you combine that with IK goals and Morph Targets then you can make a simple and easy Character Creation system. They have the technology to do it. Even a normie can do it in Unreal Engine and Unity. The way you go about doing them in your Engine of choice is different, BUT it all follows the same Modern Principles that most Modern Game Engines can do. I'm honestly thinking about doing a tutorial series on it because all these people defending why Bear Game has bad Character Creation acts like it's the hardest thing in the World to do when it's actually one of the easiest things you can do in Game Dev.

Im an unabashed Bethesda lover and I can't wait to play this game when I get an Xbox. The issues will likely be cleaned up by then (I'm poor, so it takes a long time to get a console) and I am gonna play it Gamepass instead of buying it. Oblivion is my favorite game ever, Skyrim is good, but way too watered down for casuals. The wokeness bugs me though. I don't support wokeness at all, but Bethesda makes games that I love. No one out there comes close to what they make. They try, but it's always bland fetch questing or collecting 100 of this item! Yay! I'd rather have miscellaneous quests so hard to find, 12 years on people are finally finding them. I want random encounters that are randomly triggered. Even when Obsidian gets a chance to make something of their own, it's either really bad (their spy RPG) or empty and boring like Outerworlds. I had it on my Switch and it wasn't fun and that really upset me. I love the company Oblivion (they made my favorite KOTOR game), but they don't make games on the level of Bethesda. Until someone can actually compete with them, I'll stick with their games. Hopefully ES6 won't be woke and will be more in line with Oblivion build wise than Skyrim. Especially when it comes to character building. It's not fun just blindly leveling up everything. I miss the strategy and the controlled leveling. Bring the Role Play back to Elder Scrolls!

And there's also the fact that the game looks dated (graphics, animations, loading screens, reused assets, etc) and nothing about it screams next gen.

This is my pre-watch hot take (I will be watching tomorrow), this take comes from me who now has almost 50 hours in the game: From what I've personally experienced, the only wokeness in the game is the ability to set your character's pronouns, which in my opinion doesn't hurt anybody. Now if there are characters that happen to be gay or whatnot, that's also not woke unless its shoved down your throat. I think I remember maybe one character that was gay but I forgot which one it was because it was indirectly mentioned (ie: female character expressing that she misses "her"). As for bugs: yeah. Yeah. Although granted, compared to Skyrim or Fallout 4, Starfield seems to be more polished. At the very least, I haven't had any items go missing nor have I had any quests bug to the point of needing console commands. And (i'm assuming this is mentioned), the performance leaves a little to be desired yes however I can justify this with how the game looks. And besides I don't doubt that they'll make a couple more graphical optimizations. Of course, that isn't to say that it wouldn't be better for it to be perfect at launch, man I miss those days. Fromsoft still carries that tradition though, just look at AC6.

Bethesda's always had 'bisexual' NPCs by default, it's just never actually been made explicit before.
At the end of it, it's just a game, it cost about as much as half a dozen movie tickets, and most people have played it for tens or hundreds of hours before "hating" it, if they ever hated it.
Morrowind was an unstable shit show for years. It's early days for Starfield.
