As an eleven year old child, I can remember being glued to the local PBS television station which aired the 1930’s B&W films. I was introduced to Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and the great fashion designer Adrian. The sets were elegant, lovely and glamorous. I have carried this imagery with me throughout my life and can’t pass a Lalique window whether on a restaurant door in Los Angeles or the Brill building in NYC without being inspired. The 1930’s personified the term ladies and gentlemen.

I love watching those old movies, film noir, where the ladies wore the gowns and the men wore tuxedos and double breasted suits. Such style inspiration. Thank you for this video.

Beautiful, the fabrics were high quality, creativity of details, neck lines, back line , waist lines, etc. The shoes were adorable, flattering to the creativity of the dress. God Bless!🙏😇🤗

The 1920s through the 1940s represents to me the most beautiful three decades of fashion. Well, maybe a little less than three decades as the 1950s look, which I don't like, was in place by the end of the decade. To me, there are two main 1930s looks for daywear. The early 1930s kept the soft draping and fluting of the 1920s dresses, but updated with two definite 1930s markers--the natural waist and the calf length. The later part of the decade saw a shift to a crisper, more tailored look, with sharp shoulders and much shorter hems, often worn with quirky little hats. It can sometimes be tricky to distinguish these late 1930s suits and dresses from 1940s, but I find that they are trimmer and tend to have dainty patterns, and don't have the military uniform attitude of 1940s fashions. Thank you for this video!

What 2 beautiful souls 💝 Both the man who is struggling with his own addiction and mental health but still has such a big heart to be on a mission to help other families who struggle, and the man who restrained him for the CEO's safety and the safety of all those around them and having such a big heart to want to follow up with the CEO afterwards, I pray all the best for them both and all those who struggled and are affected 💕

Of course, the 30s are one of the most glamorous and stylish periods of fashion. Charming women in luxurious dresses and masculine elegant men conquered and made people fall in love with them at first sight. The influence of the Hollywood dream factory spread not only throughout the United States, but also throughout the world. And we still hear the echoes of this influence. Thank you, Valerie! 🥰😍💖

lots of photos don't match the times and designers that narrator is talking about , 1for example 1910 style photo is shown while describing 1930's silhouette. ?
the content is great but please edit it better,

Thank you for your attention to the content and for pointing it out. I carefully select each photo, but perhaps there was an error in the captions online.
      I’ll double-check more thoroughly.
      Wishing you all the best!🕊️

She might have included photos illustrating her spot-on descriptions. Instead, the photos are a mishmash of museum garments and celebrity photo shoots with no connection to the narrative, and not in the least educating.

Thank you for watching and commenting, but I don’t owe anything to anyone. This is free content, not educational. It’s my personal perspective on fashion history. And if you find it not educational enough, you’re absolutely right. The purpose of this content is to reminisce and enjoy how things were in the past, not to provide a detailed historical account with dates, terms, and all the things typically sold for money.
Once again, thank you for your attention.🌷

Hourglass ?! Hourglass was not a look of the 30s.

Yes, the hourglass silhouette was a significant feature in 1930s fashion. This decade marked a return to a more feminine and natural figure after the straight, boyish shapes of the 1920s. Designers of the 1930s emphasized the hourglass shape through several elements:
      1. Nipped-in Waists: Dresses and tailored suits often had fitted waists to highlight the natural curves of the body.
      2. Bias Cut: Designers like Madeleine Vionnet popularized the bias cut, which allowed fabrics to drape softly over the body, accentuating the curves and creating a fluid, hourglass shape.
      3. Shoulders and Hips: Shoulder pads and flared skirts were used to balance the silhouette, creating the illusion of a more pronounced hourglass figure.
      4. Corsetry: While less restrictive than earlier eras, girdles and foundation garments were commonly worn to achieve a smooth, defined waistline.
The hourglass silhouette of the 1930s was refined and elegant, reflecting the glamour of Hollywood and the escapism sought during the Great Depression.

@@FashionQuestion No, I'm sorry, but do you know what an Hourglass looks like?
The overly cinched waists in the later 1800s (remember Scarlett O'Hara being pulled into her corset?) were an hourglass shape. Or picture Mae Wests look ,hourglass.
The 30s clingy gowns would certainly not lend themselves to large breasts and/or corsets, as they hugged so closely, and often had very low backs. If you watch any of the late 20s early 30s films you can see that for yourself. When people think hourglass, none of the 30s movie stars would come to mind other than Mae West, or they might think along the lines of Marilyn or Sophia Loren, which was the 50s/60s. I know what I am talking about, being a fashion historian, aside from it being obvious what an hourglass shape looks like.
