    To Brenda and Jim
I have a sign over my front door that I go out of every morning to do chores that says, "On the 8th day God looked down on his paradise and decided He needed a caretaker, so He made a farmer."
So, my philosophy is, if you have never had a heifer that's a first time mom, that doesn't know what to do and you spend days taking care of her calf for her, trying to get the mom to stand still to feed her new baby, feeding with a bottle if it doesn't happen. Doing this no matter the weather, no matter how frustrating because this baby won't suck on the nipple, is weak and can't stand by itself, etc. Your whole heart rejoices when a couple weeks later, that same calf and mom have figured it out, that calf is running around the pasture playing with all the other calves. Then fast forward 2 years, that same calf that you nurtured and cared for is loaded up and taken to butcher to provide for your family. You watch with a heavy heart as it is unloaded and put in the holding pen at the butcher. The ride home from the butcher you are so overwhelmed with emotions that you start crying, tears streaming down your face, because you know what happens next at the butcher.
So, from one farmer to another, you just know...
    God Bless

After the great flood God said, “Every creature that lives shall be yours to eat; as with the green grasses, I give you all these” (Gen. 9:3).
I know Jim and Brenda personally and they take great care of their animals. I myself do not live on a farm, but I have had friends and relatives that have farms and they raise animals to survive. I like Brenda comment on the circle of life for even plants. Plants at some time have to "die" for humans to eat or for animals to eat them as well. Bree is so cute running around the pasture.

Brenda, a very good answer to the bleeding hearts out there. Farmers are realistic thinking people. Your farm is beautiful and well kept. Seeing the horses work is a privilage. It was very interesting to see the log fall off and see the horses not move.

What a great clip when Baron and Bill burst out of the woods into the sunshine. I grew up on a farm, learned that life and death was a package. It was sometimes hard when a favored cow was sick beyond help and had to be slaughtered. Those who know the circle of life accept what has to be.

My Dad was a farmer for many years of his life, raised a family of 14 on a small 160 acre farm. He with help always butchered what ever was required with help from us kids and neighbors. He also helped many others to butcher as at that time we were able to butcher on farm. When he was winding down farming in his later years he could not complete the task as he was too attached to many of the animals. He had to ask neighbors to complete the final butchering for him. He went away off the farm while the final 3 beef where slaughtered. We do care but something's just have to be done for survival.

Jim and Brenda…NEVER apologize for your life, ever. I am so appreciative of farmers and ranchers because without that profession none of us survive! I remember a saying that I read some time back which I have clung to with all the upside down things going on today and that saying is “Just because you are offended doesn’t mean you are right”. I will NEVER be a vegetarian but I have no problem if others choose to be. Beef, pork, chicken, fish…all have a purpose in our diets. I’m a type 2 diabetic so my life style is far different than most folks but I’m ok with what I have to adjust and adapt to but I’m not going to let outside opinions control my life. I sob over the loss of our kitties when they expire but it’s still a fact of life. I still shed a tear for Buck but it is part of your farm life. Life and death are intertwined and how we adapt dictates how well we handle life’s issues. That cow had a very good life up to that one last day when you had to make a determination on what the best end for her would be. You two are such a good stewards to all God has blessed you with so never ever apologize for the decisions you make. I love your channel, truly enjoy all the animals and I haven’t once thought your content unbearable to watch. So please keep sharing all you feel comfortable sharing and I’ll appreciate being enlightened and entertained. Happy Pizza dinner you two!!!:):):)

Farmers in general, I believe, have a greater respect for life. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I experienced over and over the circle of life. The joy of birth and the sadness of death. When we were taking a cow to the butcher, it was a quiet and somewhat somber time. We didn’t talk about it very much as we all knew what was happening. It was a quiet time to do some reflecting.
I had six sisters and one brother and we all got to name the new calves. We were encouraged to get attached to every animal on the farm even though we knew we would outlive all of them. We always had a cow named after one of my sisters.
Here is an example of learning the cycle of life on the farm. My dad always had a good beagle for rabbit hunting. Every year he would have her bred and have a batch of puppies to sell. We all got very attached to the puppies and when someone came to buy one we all hoped they wouldn’t and when they did, it seems like all of us would cry. I remember my mother telling my father that maybe we should not have more puppies as all the kids do is cry when they are sold.
I remember clearly one of my sisters, who couldn’t of been four or five years old at the time, saying, “ oh no, we love having puppies, we are just sad when they have to go to a new home”.

When I was a kid we had a little bull born in the afternoon when we were home from school and all of us kids were there to welcome him into this new world, so we all imprinted on him from his first moments. Throughout his life whenever we would walk over to the fence little bull would come over to say hi. Because we had no need for another bull, little bull was destined for food and when his time came my dad brought home all of the meat and put it into the freezer, but none of us kids had any interest in eating it, and my dad finally had to load up all of the frozen meat and take it back to the butcher to trade for meat from other animals so that we would eat it.

Our dad cautioned us about naming our calves but it never really mattered if we named them or just called the "cow" when it came time for them to fulfill their purpose it was a bitter sweet time. But you're right i believe death is part of life and i'm sure that i never showed the feelings i felt when we shipped one off to the butcher but it was a farm community and all of our neighbors shared the same sentiment. Keep up the appreciated work.

We had trouble eating out pet runt pig Stinky. Mom kept a package from the store to show us. Circle of life... the seed dies to let the wheat grow.... It is in The Good Book.
Yes, please show Bree each time.

It's nice to see Barron fill out the way he has.
My thoughts when you first started using him was that he was just so much smaller than the others. But now he has muscled up so much. Nice horse 👍

You are 100% correct about something must die for others to sustain life!!!! Baron has so much energy, his prance and excitement to go and work makes his tail swish from side to side!!!! He walks fast with Bill and slow with Ken!!!

This is one of the bad things that happens on social media. There are people that will criticize. I wonder if they wear or own anything leather?Just ignore, I know that’s hard. You can tell by looking at your livestock that they have been well cared for. I so enjoy your videos and they are so well done. And the drone shots are great. I appreciate the quick updates of Bree too. Keep doing what you’re doing and God bless the farmers. How about a big juicy steak for supper 😁

It's winter here in Australia and most of us haven't had much rain either. Seems lots of places are either very dry or very wet. Whereas it used to be that one side of the world would be dry while the other side was wet. Now they have merged and everywhere is either dry or wet. And when wet, it is absolutely terribly wet. Yes things are slowly coming to a peak.
If you had enough eggs you could just have omletts with various fillings on this 'down' day as I see it. Fillings could be some bacon bits with capsicum strips (pepper) and tomato or maybe cubed capsicum with diced green chard just wilded with omlett heat and add some tasty leftover pulse beans.
Occasional pizza with a heap of cheese is ok but only maybe one per month. Keto pizza is a little bit different but still not too often and many people don't like the sweet backtaste that the almost meal (used in the dough) gives it. Some people use coconut flour but still a bit sweet. I find the almond flour a bit sweet but I don't eat sugar and I often struggle to find a suitable flour alternative. So I don't eat grains or any carbs and no sugar. So just standard keto.
You can't even please most of the people some of the time so just do your thing and if they don't like it they will move on. I am country raised and understand all that entails. Still, I winse sometimes but I understand some things are necessary. I eat more meat these days and it only comes from one place! That animal has to die so I can eat. But I am happy with how they are treated from end to end in this country. Not everyone or everything is perfect and we all can do better but as long as we are mindful to do our best, it should be ok.
Yo'all do great work and I look forward to the videos whatever they contain.

I hope the commenters re the cow are all vegan!
With regards Bree, I would love a glimpse of her in every video, she has really filled up and is growing so fast, I was quite surprised last time we saw her. Just a glimpse please.
Baron is growing too, almost matching Bill for height now, and prancing along quite enjoying his work. Horse bites on working horses can cause haematomas , then gear like saddles and harness cause the most awful sores and the horse can be off work for weeks or months.
Lovely video Brenda, greetings from Australia.

Anyone who follows you should know how much you care for each and every one of your animals. ❤️
An Animal going to feed people and make other products from bone, cartilage, etc is part of the circle of life. To not use the animal is wasting something God has provided for us. 👍👍

I believe that animals well fed, free to roam, and humanely butchered in a way that avoided fear (as yours are) are the most lucky animals on the planet. I was raised on a small farm and butchering time (whether chickens, pigs or cattle) was a heart wrenching time for our whole family because each animal was specifically known to us and we felt great sadness when we had to kill to eat. Those of us who’ve been there understand and those who haven’t, well, they haven’t. I love your videos because I can see what good lives your animals have. Keep it up.

Can't believe someone complained about taking the cow to butcher. I get all my beef and pork from a rancher in Wyoming. He has a UA-cam podcast, so I get to watch calves be born, grow up, and then he takes them to butcher. Bree sure is cute running with her little tail held high!🥰 Brenda, I think she would like to give you sugar there in her stall! She sure loves you! Billy and Baron are good workers together! Baron seems to have stopped frog hopping when he first starts out pulling a load! Great video today! Enjoy your pizza! P.S. Abby's new windows upstairs looks great!!

As of this video there are over 79 thousand subscribers. Brenda said everybody has an opinion. Like 80 thousand opinions. I’m not a vegetarian, I retired from a meat processing company so I’ve seen animal deaths on steroids which is one of the reasons I pray before a meal, I realize the sacrifice. I would like to remind all of us to be kind towards the other 79 thousand subscribers. I believe the spirit of this channel reflects the humility of Jim and Brenda. They are not critical of negative comments, sensitive, but not critical. There is no them verses us on this channel. Like they say love your neighbor. We are fortunate to already have nearly 80 thousand neighbors. Feel the love!

Brenda and Jim, wonderful video, as always. Bree is such a sweet little foal. Great temperament! Ignore the rude comments about the cow. It’d be interesting to know if these same people have dogs or cats because pet food is mostly made up of animal byproducts!
