    Easy,just keep it, when my garage is done,I will purchase a tig, its great to see you doing the legwork so we can make a better informed decision on purchasing or not purchasing a brand of machine that is on the market, thanks!

    Nice review and nice features like a lot of these newer imports. Time will tell just how they stack up to hideously outrageous price of the machines that will outlast these. Im now looking at a new mig in one of thrse import newer brands to replace my 32 year old transformer mig. If it had been a cheap import i would have had newer tech a hell of a lot earlier, i hate world waste, but i have been dealing with a bit of transformer soak for a while now and now think very differently. 5-6-7 years out of it then who knows lazer may even be as cheap.

      So the fake "USA" machines will out last this welder. Think again. You can go find all sorts of customer complaints on the USA welders as well as complete lack of warranty support from Miller, etc. When a board frys the replacement costs 3x what the welder in this video costs! And that's IF you can even get the board. USA machines with China boards are overpriced and can be junk just like any brand. The USA companies sell bullshit and prices are just greedy with lack of support after the sale.

    It is a good little machine for portability but the price point is that of other machines on the market there is primeweld,ahp,weldpro, etc it's all in what you want. I personally have a primeweld Tig 225x with the watercooler and CK worldwide flex-loc torch put the kit together on their website for less than 2k at the time 3 yrs ago. If you shop around there is a lot of Tig machines under the 1k price range they all have pros and cons of all of them.

    Those are beautiful welds anybody would be proud of… I would if that counts for anything. 😂 Good review, I went to the website to take a look and I’m very tempted but where would I put it? I better go clean up my shop and reconsider. Thanks for sharing.

    I don't need 2 welders either but I have 6. 3 old USA and 3 newer China, HF MIG, Alpha TIG, and Primeweld 325 (still in the box from the black friday sale in 2023). I do crazy things with my China welders, like use them to make money with in my full time machine shop business (they are OK for hobbyists, but they'll never hold up to "commercial use")......yea right. I'm a 64 yr old BOOMER and I'm keeping the most money in MY pocket, no Red, Blue, Yellow, or other fake USA (they all use china parts) welders in my shop. Weld on !

    Looks like a pretty nice welder. The electronics looked neatly laid out with a nice ground plane. The hot glue could be insulation to ensure those particular components never touch the outside case. Maybe not but that would be my guess. For you welder dilemma, you could always sell the blue flavor one. How could tell that your argon was contaminated? I would think that could never happen, but quality control isn't always the best these days.

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  7 місяців тому +1

      The polluted argon made the aluminum welds look dirty, speckled with black throughout; it looked gross. I even talked with ArcCaptian in case I was missing something, and my settings were spot on. I finally tried a different tank. I've only had two polluted tanks in 15 years, but they were 100% of my "fresh" tanks.

      Thanks for the explanation. That would be a bummer after spending around $80 US to get the tank filled.@@GregWellwood

      The nice thing: I brought the tank back, and they properly purged and refilled it for free.

    I just received mine back order on the peddle. How is the tig handle as a peddle? Not sure if to keep it if I don’t get the peddle. Kind of use to the peddle.

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  2 місяці тому +1

      It's always better with the pedal, but while you are waiting for the pedal to arrive, the torch handle alone works really good. I've used other TIG-torch-only welders and hated using them without a pedal, but once you dial in the settings on this one, it works fairly well. You're still going to want the pedal though.

    • @ElVic82
      @ElVic82 2 місяці тому

      @@GregWellwood I just know that I start using it I won’t be able to return it. Looks like the peddle is on back order for a while and a lot of people waiting on it from reading reviews. I’ve paid for it already. I just think they might just cancel all orders and I won’t get one. Do you know if there’s a universal pedal out there we can use for it?

    • @GregWellwood

      @@ElVic82 Ask ArcCaptain if they would be willing to share the pedal pinout, so you can wire an aftermarket pedal accordingly, should theirs not show up in a timely manner. They gave me the pinout for the spool gun on the MIG200.

    Would Tig welds be better than Mig welds in your opinion when would one be better than the other? thx

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  7 місяців тому +1

      You kinda want both. I use MIG for "quick and dirty" and "convenient." and I use TIG for precise, pretty, and critical/structural. I have a millwright friend who uses stick for structural; I hate stick. I initially ONLY had TIG, but when I had my head under the dashboard of a Pontiac Firefly (Canadian Chevy Sprint) trying to tack header tubes on a V8 running the torch, filler, and pedal.... I went and bought a MIG. TIG is really good for bodywork - you can planish the welds WAY easier than MIG welds.
