But the richer part of town could not band together and help their community building the bridge for them? The teacher said 95% of the people there are fine to walk and are well off. I feel they dont want to actually help the poor in their community

I am usually a silent UA-cam watcher and rarely comment on any videos. I always come back to this video, when I need a motivation to push myself and every time I see this documentary, tears roll down my eyes. Currently I am commenting in this video from a lab at a prestigious university in Canada, as I am working on my data analysis on one screen and watching this video on my second screen. As a Nepali watching this video, I feel terrible for my fellow juniors, Ajit and his friends and I am so sorry that you guys had to go through this adversity daily just for the hope of bright future. It leaves me questioning, "Why is life so unfair for some of us?". Yet, we as a Nepali have this perspective towards life to win adversity with optimism. This also motivates me, reminding me that the life I have now might be someone else's dream and this pushes me to be grateful for what I have. To all the young men and women, don't lose hope and trust me as it's the only thing that's worth clinging to. May you one day reach where you want to be.
It just breaks my heart at how tired the young boy looks at the end of the video. These kids honestly put in a full days work just getting to and from school, no wonder they can't concentrate!
Kyle Hill no! Just not physically abuse them for things that are out of their control! Although, I think I’d need a drink after getting across the river in that thing. And about 20 ....... BEFORE!!!!! 😬🤭
$40,000 to climb Mount Everest, if one person would donate their money to build a bridge rather than to satisfy their ego climbing a mountain that has been claimed thousands of times, they would be much better people for it
Zeno Lachance Very true , but rarely happens , this is exactly what they do like trophy hunting in some African countries to satisfy their mammoth ego , but not for a good cause ...
Ajeet is real hero , He not only goes to school himself but also carries other poor young kids too, How the heck he can concentrate on Study when He has 0 level strength after this agonizing journey to school, I have 4 years old daughter who never ever goes out alone , A shiver ran down my spine to see a four years old girl to go to school that far alone. Salute to these Kids...Wish I could do for them to make their life easier , :( :(
in south africa in rural areas ,where there are schools ,students, parents ,and politicans (and did little to fix it..politicians)complain bitterly of how hard it is to get to school..this needs to be .thought about again..once these video have been viewed..
@Frost i get what you are saying but everyone has there problems. Even kings have there own problems. I have problems you have problems we all have problems. It is just some have troubles more serious then others. There are children that get bullied mercilesly in school and some even kill themselves. They would give anything to stay away from school.
I was very glad to read the comment by a person who attended the school in this documentary, that he was letting us know that it's now much safer to get to school, with a suspension bridge and a school bus. This is not only safer for the students, but also the farmers and anyone else who needs to cross at this spot. While it's still a concern for their parents, I'm sure, at least they now have less to worry about as their precious children travel back and forth for their highly valued education.
how the hell do the people recording this not fee lsorry, and buy them food or drive them to school .wtf. They film all of this, and yet they never show how THEY get around
@@spineloveragain2415 Helping them one day don't help their 13 years of school , this documentary is to show the government and people about this to get bigger help . But the government is crazy🤦
Miss Mason You are only seeing what they want you to see. 🥺the teachers aren’t even paid well, yet they have to teach(w lack of education). 😭the gov gives zero fucks. The teachers don’t usually beat them, they only do it if they’re at fault for something.
Maybe this documentary helped expedite building the bridge. But what about the children must hitchhike to school? Do they must still do that or there is a bus waiting for them at the other side?
Documentaries like this can raise awareness, bring attention to the hardships people in remote areas face every day. After getting an international audience, help is likely to make its way there. Humans have their flaws and weaknesses and some of them really suck but for the most part, we do try to make each other's lives better. I would think that after this was seen by the wider world, no one had to die to get that bridge built.
I just watched this documentary and I cried thinking about those children and what they've gone through in order to get educated. I'll show this to my teacher trainees. Huge admiration goes out to these brave children.
My heart breaks hearing that one boy saying, "I'd rather have a bridge rather than to be a pilot (his dream)." I wish I could help these people someday.
I'm thinking also that kind of action.. after I watch the documentary video.. I said to my self how can I help this kid sajit.. to rich his dream. I'm a simple Filipino person..
Once again I admire you children who have the courage to finish school and reach your dreams. Hope and pray that your government builds your bridge for your safety. God bless you all!!
As an educator in The Bahamas who gives all my late students a warm smile, I am deeply hurt by these children being punished for arriving late. I always say to myself that I have no idea what difficulties they encountered on their way to school and I remind them that I am simply happy they are there.
@@FreeDocumentary How can I help? I am PHILIPPINA. My mother was a sponsored child from the PHILIPPINES. She migrated to the US. I would like to help the family documented in the PHILIPPINES episode. I have been unable to find contact information.
I think they themselves also feel inferior. They dk anything about the outside world, Internet, the things kids at that age talk about, also underperforming at class. They live in a different world while being in the same school
Right! And their trip to school doesn't help with their actual studies. If the government would just build a bridge, it would make life easier for the children and let them have a chance at a better life. But with this situation, they'll be trapped in this same cycle forever.
These kids are amazing. Their determination, maturity, kindness, teamwork, hardwork and perseverance to get to school on time, despite the many obstacles, is commendable! Only for them to get to school and be physically punished by their so called teachers, is despicable and heartbreaking. They shouldn't be punishing the kids, they should be proud that the kids made it to school, safely. What kind of teacher says "they (the kids) don't stand a chance"!? What a horrible thing to say! You must be a HOPELESS teacher! Why did you even become a teacher? Anyway, I wish all the best for all the wonderful children and their families. May their hopes and dreams be fulfilled.
These children probably learned more on their way to school than at school. Not saying it's right, but I'm sure some strong leaders came out of that bunch.
And I thought I had challenges in my life - how selfish of me. I am very eager to see how Ajit and the other kids are doing. I hope they have immense success in life and make their country a better place for future generations!
Look at the ledership quality this boy has. After helping his friends to cross river he his helping the men also.. if he get some support he will be a great leader. Literally had a tears in my eyes..
@@Innnr maybe its true because at the time when they were child.. Nepal didn't have road transportation like now.. Grandpas used to tell they used to walk for days to get to the plain
As a teacher, the way their teacher was talking about them having no hope of ever learning was so upsetting to hear. Every child has potential, they just need someone who cares about them enough to teach them in a way that benefits them most.
They are mistranslating alot of the nepali here, although what she does say is kinda rude, she does give reasonings, like the kids are distracted cuz of the fears of their travel as well as how they can't concentrate as much as they are travelling such hard distances each day.
It's actually the hard facts about the children's reality affect them and how it keeps them from making the most of their time at school what this teacher's intervention is all about. You can tell she is also hoping for the best for these kids but there's not much she can do for them either other than making their time at school worth it.
Kudos to these children wherever they are right now. It breaks my heart knowing what they've been through just to go to school to learn. Damn, it made me cry..
"If I could choose I would rather have a bridge than to be a pilot" he said after all the struggles he went through, he is such a big hearted, another one when he back to back helped the farmer to cross, he has a strong solidaries mentality. god bless you ajit
Watching this video makes me remember about my life back then with my cousins. I live in the Philippines and I also experience this kind of hardships going to school. Gosh what's up with the teacher punishing the students?. I'm sure they know the reasons why the students are late. Some adults are just a waste of OXYGEN! 😡😡
I dont know why they would punish them, seems like it would encourage them to take even MORE risks in getting to school than they already do, I'd just be happy to see them get there at all !
@@AsTheWheelsTurn the teacher is unreasonable here. The kids already are making an effort to get to school. Maybe the teacher should try to be more lenient, understanding and encouraging to these students.

You’re lucky because refugees got international attention and aids. Citizen have to live under the mercy of their government. I wish wealthy people are generous towards helping people like them than building fancy museums or music halls.
What a brilliant documentary. Brought tears to my eyes, but also hope at the ambition of the kids. Hope they are doing well now. Have seen other comments talking about a bridge being built there. These kids and their parents are so wonderful.
I agree. These documentaries have humbled me more then I already was. It's truly the little things in life, like people and opportunities. Everything else means nothing!!
@@harrasikaEspecially when the problems in question aren’t at odds with these kids’ situation. For example, if Amazon workers stop demanding to be paid better, the money won’t go to these kids in Nepal; it’ll go toward Bezos’s already excessive pile of money. So what’s the point in them willingly accepting their poverty?
We (westerners) love to put our thoughts to other people’s circumstances. In reality, they could be perfectly happy and here we are thinking of them as nothing but poor and worthy of pity. Watch the episode with the little boy in Siberia. It’s -52 degrees out and he’s walking to school having the time of his life playing, chasing cows, etc.
Really no reason for teachers to yell n angry towards these little angels if they late for school. Should show more compassion n care n sympathy or stop being a teacher
It’s because they don’t care about where you live, also how long it takes you to get in school. Most of the time, kids are naughty and that’s probably one of the reasons why they hit student (even I used to get hit, but not much since I was a good student. I used to live in nepal) I remember walking for more then 30 minutes to get to school and then study. It was hard to pay attention sometimes because I just wanted to rest and sleep but I couldn’t because it’s school. The most thing I hated was how early we wake up like 6am everyday, I mean we do go to bed early (we are asleep by 8pm) I also hated how we had to go to school 6 days out of 7 weeks, the worst thing was that we couldn’t just rest at the weekend. We had house chores we needed to do. It was quite tiring, now I’m not used to that anymore I think I’ll pass out if I do that every literally

this made me cry for their hardships and need for bravery. It makes me so so thankful that I have never had to endure what these sweet children have had to. God bless them and keep them safe...

Hope all those kids made it now!! God bless their unity! I had to walk a way long walk to school n hitch hike too but this is far too much!! I am gonna watch all the series!! I am humbled❤️🙏🏻
Out of all the episodes in this series, this is the first one where the teacher has no empathy with and no sympathy for the children. She´s blaming THEM for being bottom of the class. For me, this is the worst part - not so much the physical pain (and danger) of using the tuin, but the lack of any kindness from the teacher. They go to an extraordinary length to get to school - only to find that the people they look up to (teachers) have no interest in them. Absolute shame.
what may seem extraordinary for you is normal here.its not humane but this discipline is needed for the better future.hope you read this to understand and not to reply back with contradictions☮️
This is ASIA. That's not Europe. Not white man's civilization. After all, you can give these children a harness to work at height and links with carabiners - no one will fall. I'm not talking about gloves anymore, because it's obvious.
Through this dangerous journey to school, these children learn to work together as a team, protect each other and help each other. It's amazing to see so much determination in these children to go to school. Makes no sense to wait until a death to build a bridge.
This deeply moving documentary offers an insightful glimpse into the lives of Kumpur's mountain village inhabitants, highlighting their resilience and dedication to education despite formidable challenges. It's a poignant reminder of the value of schooling and the sacrifices made for it. Thank you for this enlightening documentary.
this documentary broke my heart for the children and the parents alike. this is why people need to be kind. we just didn't know how other people live their lives everyday. children are exhausted and parents are worried sick for their young ones.. but it is comforting to know that there already is a bridge in Kumpur today. take care you beautiful little souls.. Grow up to be great men and women. big hugs.
I'm so glad that the children have bridges now. Ajit and his bravery inspired me so much. Him and his friends are so kind, and I loved to see the kindness of the farmer, too. My heart aches for these children, that they have to travel so far, and hitchhiking is so dangerous, but I am grateful that they do not need to use the tuin anymore. My heart ached for the children so much when they had to cross it. I hope Ajit has many school friends now, but I know it's been 6 years since the upload. May God bless these beautiful children & teens. I hope that all their dreams come true!
And that’s why kids from these kind of countries are more successful when they go overseas as international students than kids born in wealthy countries. It’s all cause they’re discipline and they’ve experienced hardship of child labour early, so when ever they get an opportunity in an oversea school they work their butts of in studies just so that they don’t experience labour again. 🙏🏾
@@smnewstead4093 It's sad they have to go these lengths to get to school, definitely not inspiring as these people are making it out to be, all to have a slightly better advantage in fighting over what scraps they have left as multinational corporations and the elite in their corrupt countries exploit them. Nobody should be forced to work >this< hard, it's insane.

Soy Profesora y he llorado con estos videos. Que duro y triste se le hace la vida a estos pequeños luchadores y otros niños se quejan de todo y tienen comodidades. Graciaa a Dios que les va mejor y se les ayudó. Extraordinario documental. Saludos desde Perú. ❤
The teachers at the school are being discriminatory against these children. Instead of encouraging and helping them to succeed knowing all that they must overcome just to get to school. The one child even said that the teacher yells at him even hits him when he's late. That's horrible. The school and teachers should be ashamed for not doing more to help these children.
That's because it's discrimination. Discrimination means the UNJUST or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things. Don't be afraid to call something what it is. Pretending that discrimination doesn't exist is not going to make it go away. When you see it call it out people need to stop it. If using the word Discrimination or Discriminatory makes you feel uncomfortable then you should explore that with some introspection and education so that you can overcome it.
@@caringabouttomorrow3157 I agree the fact that teachers know that they come from the mountains and are harsh on them it is discriminatory ppl who don’t like that word is because they don’t really know what is to be discriminated

This actually pissed me the fuck off and I wish something could be done about how the teacher treat them but I know it's a cultural thing, they're very strict it's sad and uneccessary.
Or parents too.l I do not accept no every episode of this series the parents have so much work they cannot help children get to school. My parents set aside work and took us to school however difficult for them. These parents could still pick the crops but also take the children across the bridge - they could do a rota every day so one parent does morning and one evening from a group of families.

Only people in 1st world countries don't know the value. Really. These kids don't travel so hard just to sleep in class or talk back at teachers, they'll try their best to learn as much as possible.
@@anneliselim602 not entirely true, I have to say. Yes people in 1st world countries don’t typically have to travel such long and harsh distances for an education, but many face other struggles that they must overcome: abusive households, horrible bullying, lazy teachers, etc.

This little girl getting her spit bath is just the sweetest little girl. She is so precious. I'm amazed these parents are so driven about their kids getting an education.
This is why our nepali parents are proud and dependable. They tell us their legendary story on their way to school and their struggle. Nothing compared to the new generation.
Inspirational for all the students living in other parts of this planet earth. It is good to know that a suspension bridge has been made by the government to help these students to cross the river. Thumbs up for this wonderful documentary.
@Hilda pineda actually to be honest with you. There are 20 members in a class and only 2-3 boys won't concentrate in education. The number of teachers are already too less to individually prioritise students. Thats why those kinds of students always fall backwards
HIlda-Now I realize how easy m,y childhood was.. although from a lower middle class family,we 5 kids never were hungry and the walk to school only took 2 minutes.I often reminisce about my very happy childhood.

I don’t think so, it’s from the pressure everyone put on the governments they did that bridge

Right! And their trip to school doesn't help with their actual studies. If the government would just build a bridge, it would make life easier for the children and let them have a chance at a better life. But with this situation, they'll be trapped in this same cycle forever.
The teachers ranking them by performance for all to see is not helping either. How can they beat those kids for being late? Man that agers me.

These kids are amazing. Their determination, maturity, kindness, teamwork, hardwork and perseverance to get to school on time, despite the many obstacles, is commendable!

The one child even said that the teacher yells at him even hits him when he's late. That's horrible. The school and teachers should be ashamed for not doing more to help these children.
This has ZERO to do with "discrimination".
You could have easily written "unfair". But you choose "discriminatory against these children."
The Teacher needs to be beaten for hitting these kids for being late.
@@caringabouttomorrow3157 I agree the fact that teachers know that they come from the mountains and are harsh on them it is discriminatory ppl who don’t like that word is because they don’t really know what is to be discriminated

"If I could choose, I'd rather build the bridge than to become a pilot." 😥😪😭 Build the bridge for God sake!!!
they have webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:kR75WK5_PZ8J:citizenhelpdesk.org/blog/a-day-in-kumpur/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
Airwin Ditianquin the kid could become a pilot get money and then build the bridge 🤔
he is just a kid..knows nothing about the condition... good thing is he still dreams to become Pilot
instantly made me tear up, good thing they built the bridge
No matter of being the last one in the class, Ajit is the hero and number one for his work and his community.
We should appreciate how fortunate we are after seeing this
I cant appreciate it knowing what they're going through
please show this documentary to waning lefties and liberals collage students in the USA, that way they'll realize how good they have it and how graceful they should be, I assure you, they'll learn how to love their country and what it has to offer even more.
@Jomar Merced people like that guy are so weird.
Teachers should go to the river and send the basket to the children instead of punishing them.
Or the kids should all be taught to swim at least.
clever name ”swimming” in a stream like that would drown even a grown man, not to mention a 50 pound child
This actually pissed me the fuck off and I wish something could be done about how the teacher treat them but I know it's a cultural thing, they're very strict it's sad and uneccessary.
I agree
Or parents too.l I do not accept no every episode of this series the parents have so much work they cannot help children get to school. My parents set aside work and took us to school however difficult for them. These parents could still pick the crops but also take the children across the bridge - they could do a rota every day so one parent does morning and one evening from a group of families.
Govt should take immediate actiono to save the life these incredible kids. So much love for these kids. God bless them and they are real heros and motivations for other kids
Why does the Nepalese mountains look like a fantasy world, like it's sooo sooo beautiful.
seriously thats all you have to comment after watching entire video.....
@@clashroyalgameplay2077 are they not allowed to?
it is my friend it is!
I wanna go there but damn covid

This are the children who actually know the value of studies...
Only people in 1st world countries don't know the value. Really. These kids don't travel so hard just to sleep in class or talk back at teachers, they'll try their best to learn as much as possible.
@@anneliselim602 so true
@@anneliselim602 I feel so privileged RN. Bet they'd utilize it far better than I would though.
@@anneliselim602 not entirely true, I have to say. Yes people in 1st world countries don’t typically have to travel such long and harsh distances for an education, but many face other struggles that they must overcome: abusive households, horrible bullying, lazy teachers, etc.
@@anneliselim602 Most schools in the US are terrible and aren't worth doing this to get to. My teachers didn't teach but gambled with students playing "ghetto ball" or at the most give our worksheets to do. They also teach skewed history.
There’s absolutely nothing worse in this world than a struggling child. They deserve so much better. They are our future.
Teacher goes “they cannot even concentrate because they’re so concerned about getting home”. So you rank the kids from best the worst?
I felt so angry when I heard that, it's so obvious that she makes a clear destinction between the kids and treats the one that travel this much badly because "they can't concentrate"
The river and its crossing are unbelievably dangerous.
@@Danieldbs09 It’s a dangerous journey. That teacher just doesn’t care. Ajit could have been killed crossing that river.
It's not teachers problem its an education system in Nepal and India...that rate children without knowing background and social issues
@@addmeadmin They can’t help being late.
Praying these little ones meet their dreams ESPECIALLY AFTER ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS TO GET TO SCHOOL......!!!!!!
AMEN, AMEN & AMEN!!!!!!!!
Barbara Williams amen thank you god
Amen. God is Good.
I feel sad 😥while I'm watching this, but I'm so proud of those kids ,.so inspirational story...May God always give them strength and guide them always💓💓💓💓
As an American who remembers complaining about getting up at 7am and taking a safe school bus three minutes to school...I feel really lame right now. These kids are amazing!
I understand what you mean. Too often, those of us who have the greatest ease express the most exaggerated complaints. These kids make me ashamed of the minor inconveniences I give voice to.
isn't that right ? btw i also used to walk 45 minutes to my school by the highway carrying a 7-8 kg bag when i was 10 and was in class 6th.
The look on Ajit's face and the sadness in his eyes breaks my heart. I wish I could help.
I feel the same, is there away we could help
The kids have a dream in life but the government have no heart. Very sad and very shameful.
Brought me to tears
@Emma Chianese that's great! Thanks for the update.
@Emma Chianese Great hear that!!!!
@Frost Now compare this without road, bridge, twin and school 20 km away.
Inspirational for all the students living in other parts of this planet earth. It is good to know that a suspension bridge has been made by the government to help these students to cross the river. Thumbs up for this wonderful documentary.
Show me the picture
After all the stress they go through, to excercise in the morning and then to have teachers rate their kevel.of learning, what a nasty way to teach
Ikr. I felt like she's a racist toward those kids it was hurtful to treat them like that.... smgdh 😤
@Fred Jaminson its not india , u twat
I have 100% admiration for these people. They are filled with ambitious dreams. Much like me as a child. People in the western world are spoiled and very few take advantage of their blessings. God bless the children of Nepal .... .... .....
