  • This week's find is a fantastic bluewater sailboat for sale in Wells, Maine -a 32'/9.75m Yawl made by Endeavor. Fastidiously maintained by the current owner (of the past 40 years), She really doesn't need anything to drop her in the water and go..... a new owner might want to add some radar or a few other bits and pieces but we were quite surprised and delighted at what we found. Check it out!!

That is one of the best kept boats that I've ever seen. You don't haggle over a boat of this quality. It would be impolite to even mention money. Just write a cheque and put it in an envelope. So what if she needs a few toys. The money that you will save on remedial work and maintenance, will easily cover some second hand instruments. Thank you, gentlemen. Another gem.

Agreed. I'd still want a survey, and the seized mast taken care of, but beyond that... seems like a very good deal, really.

No kidding. The engine is 20 years old but has obviously been meticulously maintained as has the rest of the boat. I suspect the owner will get offers over and above the asking price.

I have never owned a boat or been aboard a "real" sailboat. I watch each episode with a dream in my heart. Trouble is I'm 68 and not handy at all. I need to find a sailor friend! East coast South Florida! Somebody need a lump for the ride? I'm good for an early morning (3 a.m.) watch :)

My advice would be to go to a local marina and hang out with sailors there. They often are happy to have an extra hand on board, and willing to show you the ropes.
Then, once you made some friends... go buy a small 20'-25' daysailor of your own. Smaller boats are certainly affordable and with a bit of hunting you should be able to find one in good shape for less than $5k, trailer and all. All lines led aft (which you can easily do even if you're not handy - and other sailors in a marina are usually more than willing to help). Perfect for someone wanting to day/weekend sail and be reasonably comfortable even with a buddy while doing so.

We owned one of these back in the 80's and took it to Bermuda 2 times. Both times we hit rough weather and big seas and she handled it as well as any 32' boat could! She sailed well too! What a deal at $17k. Someone needs to buy this boat! Thanks for that walk down memory lane. If my dad were still alive he'd have enjoyed this episode for sure!

The last time I caught up with a Capt. Q video afternoons were short and water was cold. What a delight to find you so happy after slipping into a the quarter birth and marveling at the pristine headliner. I have been fortunate to be crew on a similar vintage boat, sv whitehawk since 2018/19 admiring similarly well-maintained components. When an owner conducts themselves as a master when underway and otherwise a steward a boat has a chance to become more than the sum of its parts.

This is a really nice find. Would make a great entry to sailing “big boats” for someone new to sailing and wants something a bit forgiving, yet still able to get into shallow mooring areas.
If I were In the market I would get a survey, and as long as it checked out would sail it the first year, then over the winter fix the mast step and deck.
Because the owner maintained her so well and kept her simple. Those two big jobs won’t be competing with all the smaller ones usually needed. That engine was nice and clean.

Such an awesome boat! It’s simple but it’s ready for a new owner to update or replace items what they would want! It would also allow the new owners to use the boat and make their improvements as they could and/ or wanted.
It’s the safety, quality of build and how has it been maintained not that, hey it doesn’t have a radar system or an up to date radio, etc. Yes the new owners would need to get all the new updated Bling they need, just not the first afternoon!

Thank you so much for reviewing the gorgeous Endeavour 32 Captain Q. I literally teared up, as I had one vof these as my last Mast and Sails Boat, and shewas in the same sort of condition when .I got her, a shallow Draft Long keel Not Centre Board, Sloop . She was a 1978, and as tough as old boots, which saved my life when she was attacked by A Wrecking Gang dressed as NY Harbour Employees, in New York Harbour, after another member of the gang Hacked my GPS, forcing me to heave to, while attempting to sort out the problem. Turned out, the Charts had been deleted as well, so the "Employees asked where I was heading- anchorages on the Hudson - and them telling me to follow them there, they led me into a really vicious Tidal Rip Rapids, as I was keeping central between the 2 "NYH" Water Buggies leading me, both of them well to the sides of the Tidal Rip. Well the Boat slammed into the bottom several times, so hard, the stainless steel alchohol stove in the Cabin, was beaten into a mangled pulp, along with me at the wheel. There was a big wave upsurge at the end of the Rip, and with full throttle to the 22 hp almost new Yanmar, she climbed Out of the Rip, with me still alive in the Cockpit. As soon as the "NYH Employees " Saw me still alive in the Cockpit, they turned tail and fled the scene, followed by my curses. However the damage was done, both to me, and the poor Boat . My first reaction was to fight, so I headed to the pontoon where their boss was, we had stopped there on the way , and as I was shouting about what the hell they though they were doing, he switched off the lights and going the cabin, hid from view. Thoughts then turned to flight, as unlike them likely being armed, I was unarmed, so tried heading South to clear the area, but it felt like the keel had serious damage, and the steering was very difficult to manage, and after getting a possibly safe distance, totally exhausted and badly bruised, I passed Out, hopefully a safe distance from shore, hove to. Next I knew, the boat was on the rocks. But I was still alive, but everything I had, was lost with the boat. Frankly, I couldn't recommend a better Boat for anyone to trust their life to, and if the buyer avoids NY Harbour at night, or similar, they should be fine. It turned Out that Boats are being lost at that spot all the time, and thanks to having such a strong full length keeled Boat, I am very likely the first one to survive such an attack, which has likely been going on there for years . Most basic point I suppose, is Always have a fully set up and ready to go backup Navigation available, which can be a cheap Tablet with GPS and Charts, plus backup Paper Charts as well, and put the Tablet in a Faraday Cage Bag or metal container or both, for cheap insurance. I hope to get back Afloat in a boat Captain Q, but my days of masts and Sails are over, and I'm thinking a sub 40 ft twin diesel-powered economical Coastal Cruising semi displacement Cruiser like a Bayliner, but one without much wood to look after, despite loving the wood, as being disabled means reducing things like wood maintenance as much as possible from now on for me, so the more recent 3587 to 3988 type models, for Coastal Cruising, and with care, the Caribbean. By the way, a few Naval Architects bought those Endeavour 32's, and the modifications one of them had recommended, had already been done to mine, prior to getting it, such as replacing those plastic portholes with storm proof Stainless Steel ones. I probably need to save up for another 2cyears before being able to buy another boat. I literally lost everything with the Endeavour. But the great work done by you and others, is helping to keep the flame of enthusiasm and ambition to get Afloat again, burning brightly. Best wishes, and keep up the great work. Bob from Wales in the UK. 👍🙂🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
eta, fixed typo's as I'm a single finger touchscreen typist, and errors slip through. Go Hum. 👍

Wow. That’s crazy. They hacked into your GPS/ plotter? I’d definitely travel with a firearm after that. I saw another UA-camr saying similar things about the Caribbean and if you anchor up and jump on your dingy they watch from the show and steal everything off your boat.

I'm going to be looking into how possible it will be to properly secure the boat networks so Common now, and make engine controls etc immune from being messed with, plus have at least 2 tablets or 1 + laptop fully set up with GPS Navigation put I to Faraday cages so they can't be tampered with, plus paper charts and a Sextant plus current Navigation books for my next boat, that's for sure. Twin diesel Motor Yacht likely possible early to mid 2023, fingers crossed, Banking on a lot of good secondhand boats increasingly coming to market around them, plus my Silver Bullion Insurance being able to pay off in the meantime. Best Wishes, and Happy Boating, plus have a great 2022. Bob. 👍🙂🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇲

@@brownnoise357 sounds like a plan. I’m currently looking for something. I’ve owned 4 powerboats over the years and I’m thinking about a sailboat. But there’s pros and cons to each. I dream about sailing down to the Florida keys and Bahamas 🇧🇸 and possibly island 🏝 hopping around the Caribbean once I retire. That’s 6 years away and a lot can change. Plus right now it seems the prices on everything are inflated. Good luck 🍀 to you with your search. Take care. Jack
