There are 2 sides in this story unfortunately we don’t have all the information to come to a conclusion- one thing for sure MSC and B&D didn’t act in a professional way
Spot on, Don! MSCs response to this is been fishy to say the least and now after backlash they say that someone in the YC complained. But that’s not what they told B&D at the time or in the follow up letter. Fishy fishy. And agree on the irony - I was in the YC last month on Seascape and was very impressed and blown away by the value. Was all ready to book again in the YC - but not now. So MSC has blown it with this suites customer. Dumb and dumber …
I think you hit the nail on the head Don…someone went and looked at the negative review three years ago on MSC and shut them down as a result. Never will I cruise with MSC.
Hey Don , Absolutely a big mistake by MSC, Hopefully this hurts their future bookings. This was total BS, anyone watch Ben and David Knows they are Gentleman and nice guys and always give a fair and balance opinion on the ships they are on.
@@RadioRich100 Bs watch Ben and David all the time. You are the one way off here they are very nice guys and just watch their videos before MSC shut them down.
It's unfathomable how MSC could have thought their approach to this was going to end favorably. That video started out as an absolutely glowing review. Thanks Don - enjoy the Sun!
No one is safe on MSC right now. If I am cruising and post my dining experience was not super, do I need to worry that the F&B supervisor is going to forbid me from accessing WiFi in the ship and tell me I can’t use social media from the ship? I spent 2 decades in management at the two largest themed entertainment complex’s in Central Florida. We absolutely catered to the needs of influencers and bloggers. We had a dedicated team to make sure they were handled properly. We had a team that organized events to encourage them to visit. MSC needs to publicly apologize and take steps to make sure this never happens again. If not they should be treated as a pariah.
So you would cater to these people to get good false reviews , like paying them off indirectly - you should deal with people all the same it should be special treatment for all guests
What's worse is corporate doubled down and then after the explosion tried a token refund of the unused portion to try and make it good but really it made it look even worse. Since they declined the free cruise and paid for it instead at another time and the wording makes it seem like MSC only wanted to show a fake enhanced experience when they knew they were on board (the paid trip) and not let their routine trips be shown
Exactly. I don't think MSC were ever concerned Ben and David were filming but more that MSC thought B&D would produce another bad review of the product. If MSC was so concerned with filming, etc., they'd never have invited B&D on a free cruise to begin with. MSC simply want to control the narrative here which is why B&D ultimately paid the cruise fare themselves.
Thank you for weighing in on this one as well! In their video - they explain the camera they were using wasn't large at all. Ben and David always make a point to ensure people's faces are blurred out, or they are sitting further away from other people. They felt so rattled by this, that they disembarked early and went home. I can recall not too long ago Parodeejay did a vlog when they were in the MSC Yacht Club (I forget which ship) and they could film and vlog to their heart's content. MSC made a huge mistake. Thank you for doing what you do!
They left the ship early because it was not a vacation for them - they were there solely to film. I'm sure they were 'rattled' to be told they coudn't, but that wasn't why they left.
And Don wasn’t even there, didn’t even speak with them so supporting someone without getting all the facts is irresponsible all vlogers are supporting B&D out of fellow vlogers
My wife and I did one MSC cruise a few years ago. It was the absolute worst cruising experience we've ever had. The employees were rude, uncooperative and sometimes just hostile. We vowed to never cruise MSC again.
It is a shame, and an utter PR disaster for MSC they have lost an opportunity to gain and regain customers wanting to enjoy a high end cruise experience on a budget. B + D gave a review which I found to be a pleasant surprise having followed them on UA-cam. Also having sailed before on MSC where I had a positive experience but yes less frills than more costly cruise companies offer. It seems that MSC has not yet learned good customer relationships pay dividends and social media is a powerful and persuasive media.

They are so honest they still posted a 5 star review - right up to the point when MSC ordered them to stop doing their 5 star review! If the objection was to the camera equipment, why did they say they couldn’t even use their phones to make a video.
But at the end B&D still got their revenge against MSC because other people and vlogers are fighting for them while B&D keep their hands clean - great thinking B&D

I watched the entire video and they were very positive and complimentary. Apparently someone complained about their filming but MSC really over reacted. No reason for their treatment. Hi Don. You would never remember me, but my wife and I booked a group cruise with you once and twice with Tony and Jenny. I watch three channels, yours, LaLidoLoca, and Ben and David. I have spent thousands of dollars on cruises based on your honest recommendations. After B&D's ship tour video days ago, I was actually pricing the Europa for next year. Then this video came out and I will never sail MSC. If they don't want B&D's money, they don't want mine, and I'm happy to oblige. Content creators are the cruise line's free advertisement, and their potential customer's research tool. They need YOU, not the other way around. You're right... that was just a really stupid business decision. If they can't handle honesty, they should improve their product, not silence the critics, (and based on the sequence of what happened to them, it's obvious to me they were targeted).

MSC invited them to cruise for free on that date, but Ben and David wanted to pay for the cruise themselves. They were using a small camera and filming early and later in the day as not to have other people in the video.

I bet nobody complained. But even if someone did, Ben and David were also guests on the cruise who paid for it themselves. They should never have been treated so poorly regardless if someone complained or not. I would have been furious if I was spoken to like that from any of the staff for ANY reason. Who the heck do they think they are speaking to customers who paid thousands of dollars to be there like that! It's appalling.
Both Ben and David AND the disgruntled cruisers paid for the yacht club for TOP service. If I was with a married man/woman with a “sweetie” I would not want filming around me!
They did a huge mistake. I travel a lot and when I choose a destination wether its a cruise or something else, I go on UA-cam and watch videos to help me make a decision and plan my trip. Ben And David are gentlemen and are always respectful. When they say negative comments, it’s always done in a delicate way. This is sad for them. Thanks to all of you who give us information. Not the point, this is about how they handled the situation, not the situation itself. MSC could have handled it with class and discretion but did the opposite. If you are on a ship doing anything they remotely don't like, you could have a similar situation. Look at the broader issues of how horrible MSC customer service is.
Totally agree with you, Don! This is unacceptable treatment of Ben & David! I never hear too many positive reviews from North American customers. This act just gives me more reasons to never sail MSC.
Ben and David are always very fair and hilarious. I imagine they were very hurt and upset. Everyone of us has taken pictures and videos. I myself use a gimbal because I shake without it. thats how I feel too...even if someone complained (which I doubt) Ben and David were also paying customers... they should have never been treated so poorly by any staff member for any reason. I also think the staff would have just politely asked them to make an effort not to get other guests in the video and be more discrete if someone did complain. I'm not buying it tho.
Apparently, MSC is saying that other cruisers were complaining about their filming. While that may be true, it doesn't make sense for them to shut B&D down. They asked them for the name of their channel, seemingly looked it up, and THEN came back to them and told them to SHUT IT DOWN. Also, wouldn't they first be asked to please be discreet? It took me a couple of days, but I watch the whole video from Ben & David before I watched this, and I loved their video! They were doing a lot of comparisons, not really knocking anything, and it’s a shock that they were stopped. They were very polite, tried not to film anyone, and gave an honest review. Very sad.
I am a long time subscriber of Ben and David, and they always produce top quality well balanced videos. They`re very careful with their filming and don`t intrude into other passengers space. They were so impressed with how MSC had turned things around and how amazing the crew was etc. They got very shaken and upset by the way they were approached; as you say Don, even if MSC thought they had a valid reason they could have gone about it in a much different way; it`s absolutely unacceptable!
The interesting thing is they had filmed some of the yacht club in those 4 days. And they were really giving them a great review up until they were shut down. MSC has really screwed up.
It's cruise content channels like them and you and the many others we watch. That get us excited for whats on the ship. I never book a cruise without watching a ship tour of it or a vlog about it and the ports we go to as well. MSC passed up a chance for some free publicity. And chance to get some new cruisers.
I feel like all this support for Ben and David is that scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts goes back to the boutique where they kicked her out and were rude. Remember me the other day? Big mistake, Huge! Now MSC I scrambling to save face and are being caught in even more lies.
Unfortunately for MSC negative publicity is always going to get more views than a positive review. As someone who provided workshops to adults wanting to learn how to take groups camping, positive comments about the workshop always outweighed the negative but the negative ones were what stayed with me far longer that the positive feedback. Someone at MSC obviously didn't do their homework and now the cruise line has to do damage control.

Perhaps it was some high roller in the yacht club with his mistress. I have seen plenty of B&D’s videos, seems to me they take pains to not intrude on anyone. There has to be more than meets the eye
From the video it seemed they went beyond just shutting them down. Ben and David sounded like they were treated rudely even after they stopped filming and returned to their suite. It sounded like they were watched as they went back to make sure they were not filming and that the butler became rude after the incident too. I have always avoided MSC, and now I have no plans to do so.

Hi Don, in it’s core this is not a matter of shutting down or not shutting down a UA-camr. It’s first and foremost a matter of treating people with respect. The product of a cruiseline consists of two parts: the hardware (i.e. the ship with all its features) and the software (i.e. the people creating your experience). The shiniest ship, the most entertaining shows and the most superb food are of no value if you can’t rely on the people creating your experience being respectful and trustworthy. Anyone can come in a situation where he or she has a problem with a lost passport, an illness, and similar things. And in these situations it is good if you know that you are travelling with a cruise line that is a respectful company trying to assist you in resolving such matters and not assuming the worst about you right from the start. MSC has not shown any decency in resolving whatever problem they had with Ben and David filming on their ship.
I think this whole Ben & David issue is going to cost a ton of negative PR. This isn't something that will blow over in a few weeks. If the camera rig and stabilizer was the issue, say so. If they saw old videos that had a negative review, I'd take this as an opportunity to show case how much we have changed and improved over time.
I’m glad you featured this issue because it wasn’t just about being shut down. I think it was more like censorship. I actually ran into Ben & David on the Allure a couple years ago and they weren’t using a big set up. In fact, they didn’t look any different from any of the other people shooting video during a fun ship event.
I have seen a lot of comments over the last couple of years on how bad customer services can be on MSC and then they go prove it on video to Ben and David. No way am I going to take a chance on MSC now.

There are 2 sides in this story unfortunately we don’t have all the information to come to a conclusion- one thing for sure MSC and B&D didn’t act in a professional way

I’m 100% with Ben and David. 100%!!!!!
Are u queer 2?
You don’t even know the whole story- get the facts first- B&D ran away unable to stand their own ground 😢
David: well punch me in the face and call me Rocky!
That’s right, but instead B&D decided to leave the ship before their cruise was over 😢😢

@@aussiejohn5835 Yeah right
No one is safe on MSC right now.
They left early because there was no longer £££ to be made from them staying on.

Then this video came out and I will never sail MSC. If they don't want B&D's money, they don't want mine, and I'm happy to oblige. Content creators are the cruise line's free advertisement, and their potential customer's research tool. They need YOU, not the other way around. Hi Don,
in it’s core this is not a matter of shutting down or not shutting down a UA-camr.
Their camera looked to be standard size with a large lens. Nothing out of the ordinary
It was being aimed out of his fly.
Thank you Don. No thank you MSC!!!

@@noralynn5850 Everything that happened was the fault of those 2 weirdos. They cant go on that ship with the purpose of bashing it and invading the privacy of the passengers for their own profit.. They simply should have put them off the ship and been done with it.
I'm glad you're reporting on this. I hope you're having a great time.
