They really gave us the third alter (one with broken nose) right off the bat, just like you guys wanted. The NY accent, the “wild” eyes, the more violent demeanor. Third alter was ready to bash Harrow’s skull in when he picked up that pyramid paper weight.

They threaded his through line very well- like how they kept demonstrating his trauma was written really well. How in the last episode Layla blamed him for her fathers death and rejected him, then you see how his mother blamed him for his brothers death and disowned and hated him, then Steven tells Marc if he doesn’t confront his memories everyone will die and it’ll be all his fault. He has been told his whole life that everything he is and everything he does is wrong. Your brain and body has to go to extreme methods to survive that kind of pain and trauma.

There’s a deleted scene from this episode that apparently is pretty raw psychologically speaking. People are hoping it will be released later. Those who had seen it say Isaac did an award worthy acting in that scene.

This was hands down the best I've ever seen in the MCU but it was a lot. I never thought Marvel or yet Disney would go this way but I am glad they did.
I am happy we got some answers, but so many open and even more questions and I can't imagine they wrap this up in one episode.
Oscar Isaac is incredible. I totally forgot, that Steven and Marc were played by the same man.
Dr. Flanders seems to be sort of another escape mechanism for Marc and Steven when the situation was too stressful inside the mind itself. And even so for person 3, I guess? Noticed how the accent and whole demeanour was different than Marc or Steven when he had the beaten up nose?
I don't want to lose Steven, but I guess for Marc to heal, Steven had to go eventually but not like this. This really upset me.
Guess we have to wait for next week.

This was an awesome episode. Oscar Isaac deserves an Emmy for this entire series. I almost missed that we got to see Jake, who seems to be aware of what the other 2 are doing, in the office with the broken nose. The New York accent and yet another set of facial expressions were what clued me into that it was Jake and not Marc.
On an off topic note. Just watched the movie Free Guy and noticed that in the opening scene the skydiver was over our city. ( I've spent all my ? years here in Pittsburgh, mainly In the Southside,/Mt. Oliver/Carrick area) The Point, the two stadiums and Station Square are plainly visible. Did any of you watch the movie and did you notice the scene?

What is so crazy about this episode is the fact that this all could still be in marks head. Even though I persoanlly hope it's not, and I hope they lean more into the Egyptian God's plot. But they could 100% pull a mind fuck on us and say that Mark is insane and everything has been in his head.

  • @DeezyFbaybeh
    @DeezyFbaybeh 2 роки тому +1

I feel like Khonshu knows about Jake and knows he’s more aggressive and probably doesn’t feel anything and has no problem doing the dirty work and wants to keep him a secret from Mark and Steven.
But also what gives it away that, that was Jake at the start of the episode is when he picks up the pyramid and holds it similar to the same stance as when Mark pulled the knife out of the guy and looked at it and asked Steven “what did you do Steven” in episode 3.
I also think at the beginning of this episode, Jake is the one that probably came out and was actually the one sent to a psych ward and that’s why Mark and Steven don’t recognize it because he did seem really off with that blank wide-eyed stare, the bandages, when he tried to hurt “ dr. Harrow” and then try to stab himself with it and the way he was so tense talking in a different accent.

Steven doesn't remember being beat by his mom. What if Jake was created at the same time Steven was and took the beatings to protect him. It would explain why he is the most violent personality. He could be the 'older brother' (Marc wanted to be for Randall) and comes out only when both Steven & Marc are threatened.

i have no idea. but since mark created steven to make him self "happy and brave" i think mark created the third alter, as a mercenary, to be able to be uncaring, and cold blooded. because we are introduced to steven first, so that mark feels darker and unhinged, but layla gives him the opportunity to be a better person. but he is a merc, hes done horrible things. and we were shown in this episode that he has created alters to deal with things he doesnt want to

That was an excellent episode. I have a feeling that "Jake" may have been Marc's associate, who double-crossed the dig site party, and, because Marc blames himself for Layla's Father's death, he assumed (after killing the actual Jake Lockley) the selfish, psychopathic nature of that person. In the comics, Marc and all of his other personae live with each other, and act and play different roles in his daily life. So far, it's an absolute tour de force performance from Oscar Isaac. He better win an Emmy and a Golden Globe for this performance. Too bad Lucasfilm Ltd. didn't make use of his abilities in The Sequel Trilogy; though, I do like/love the character of Poe Dameron...at least, the small amount We got of him. Great reaction, Gentlemen. Have a good weekend.
P.S. Great observation, Guys: This new Phase in The MCU seems to be depicting characters going through a shattered/fractured reality. Which makes Dr. Strange 2, a culmination of that fracturing...

@@losely451 I thought Bushman was another person within the party? If not, then Jake's got some explaining to do. Something else occurred, to create Lockley, then. I wonder how long that personality has existed in Marc's life? Did he show up just after Marc's Mother's death, and that's why neither Marc or Steven are aware of his existence? We'll find out by the end of Episode 6, hopefully. Thanks for clarifying who's who. :)

@@anthonyyoutubefan7567 Testostorone during puberty can increase the propensity of anger outbursts in teenage boys. There's a good chance that could've been the fuel on the fire of his abusive relationship with his mother. In fact Jake might've gotten a few punches in with Wendy which might have been what sparked him finally leaving home.

Wow. Heavy stuff. Triggering and hard to watch for some I'm sure. Oscar just going for it all episode. All around amazing episode. Now for my wall of text nobody will read.
I was wrong about the phone calls to mom. It was a much sadder reason but also shows that Steven willingly deceives himself about things. Like no-one on the other end of the phone as well as sending himself post cards and quite possibly creating some scenarios for himself. Like the date he doesn't remember making as something that his mom would want for him or something he would like to share with his mom.
So I am leaning that the first doctor scene was another personality as there were 3 scenes in the office and the other personalities had their turn in there. But I am also on the fence that the 3rd alter is a red herring. After years of living in New York, I do not hear a "New York" accent. It sounds like Marc slurring his words while angry and drugged to be honest. Some things that make me doubt the 3rd theory is so far neither Marc nor Steven remember what happen when they take possession unless there is a reflection in the environment and they are actively participating. They showed this when looking thru the doors of memories. Marc didn't know about the turning back of the sky and was amazed and said "Cool". He never saw it. But he knew about the neck shot and being sedated and mentions it twice in the episode once in the hallway with the hippo and once back in Harrows office, he even grabs his neck as Marc at one point showing that he remembers and experienced the event. It also seems so late in the show to explore a new alter with everything they have to cover. If there is a 3rd I think it might be left unexplored and a cliffhanger of a question.
People are projecting so hard for the 3rd like they did with Mephisto in WandaVison that I am not not so sure anymore what to believe with what has been present. Marvel likes to take everyone for a ride down a path and then be like nope you were all wrong. Even tho every bread crumb lead you to believe otherwise. Going forward I won't ever write a comment as statement of fact about any Marvel show. It's all just speculation and no one knows for sure what any of it is. They seem to love making us look dumb. Lol.
I am relieved they didn't go with the 3rd killed Layla's father and people at the dig site and finally mentioned Bushman by name. If they changed his origin story and got rid of Bushman I would have been mad. It would be the equivalent of getting rid of Uncle Ben in Spider-Man for me. He is such a big part of the Moon Knight origin story. He might be who is in the 3rd sarcophagus. If you look at them as the places where he locked away memories/trauma instead of places alters are stored. But that's grasping at straws. I have so many theories about stuff from these shows I could write way too much stuff.
I am pretty sure this will be only one season. Oscar is only signed on currently for just this show and nothing more. He has said in interviews that he didn't want to be caught up in a multi-picture contract situation with marvel (probably with how crazy the star wars stuff played out with the fans) but he is open to playing Marc. Also Moon Knight was nominated in the limited series category for the Emmys and it can't be an ongoing show if it's in that category. It also says 1 season on Disney+ not season 1 which was weird to me. But they haven't confirmed anything. I'm hoping for a surprise 7th episode instead of just 6. But that just me hoping.
Take care guys! Great reaction and analysis once again.

    @PGHReactYinz,
26:37 I'd don't think Marc will be the way he was before this journey started, and I don't think we'll see Steven again, but if we do, it won't be as it was.
Steven was created to protect Marc from his pain. When Marc encountered things too much for him to physically or mentally process, he retreated into his mind and Steven came forward.
When danger is near, Steven Grant has no fear.
Steven conjured up his childhood hero to save him--he roleplayed as Doctor Steven Grant with his brother Randall, so it makes sense that he'd want to be his hero in times of danger too. Steven also represents the only time Marc was ever happy, before his brother died. Steven was Marc's hero, protector and best memories. Steven's job was to protect Marc from his pain and to protect that lost innocence.
When Marc's mother came to beat Marc, Marc retreated into his mind and Steven came forth to protect him. Steven thought cleaning up the mess he had made would be enough to stop her, but it of course wasn't. She went to town on him, but Steven has no memory of those beatings and Marc only dealt with the aftermath of those beatings. I believe Steven had his own alter that he wasn't aware of, another version of himself one that always knew he could do what Marc could do, a more assertive and confident one. I think this version of him setup the date in the first episode and replaced Gus. This version of himself is likely the one who saved him from the zealots in the alps and the thugs in Cairo. The bodies lying at Stevens feet in the alps and around Marc's feet in Cairo are pretty similar to the piles of sand we see around both Marc and Steven on Taweret's ship. Steven's job was always to protect Marc from danger and to protect his own innocence, and the only way to do that when things become too much to handle is to have your own alter. Steven became the best version of himself by believing in himself, realizing that he was always Marc for the first time in the final moments of the episode, he even sounds like Marc when he makes that realization for a split second too.
I think the clues of Steven stepping up were always there, but we dismissed them because we were so sure that it couldn't have been Steven. Rather than believing the lady in the museum confirming her date with Steven, we sided with Donna and Steven's own confusion. Rather than believing the lady in the pet shop who told Steven that they didn't have a fish with one fin the day before, we of course assumed that she mistook Marc for Steven. Just as we can tell Marc and Steven are two different people, why didn't we assume that the ladies in question couldn't? They didn't bring up the change in accents, which would have been a red flag--they knew who they were talking to.
The second sarcophagus from last week's episode that was standing upright, was very likely the baggage between Marc and Steven, the sides of themselves they kept from each other.
The scales only balanced after Marc and Steven were finally true to themselves. Marc had to show Steven their pain, and Steven had to reconcile that he's actually Marc, and once he did the scales balanced and Marc became whole.
Jake Lockely is the new Mephisto, lol. The show show got us! It didn't help that the show several things in sets of three, Marc/Steven's reflection and the end credits, for example. We do here a different accent for a bit in one of the sessions with Dr. Harrow early on, but Marc was convinced that he was crazy and was just going with that until he realized that he was dead and that there was a possible way back, so I don't think that was who we think it was. I think this series is focusing only on Marc and Steven, especially now that we only have one episode left. Not to mention that Marc's scales are now balanced. If Jake were actually a personality, wouldn't he have been needed to balance the scales? Marc had to become aware of his entire past to make himself whole again, so there can't be anyone else.
This is the best comic book series ever, imho. I can't believe the MCU only signed Oscar Isaac for this series alone! I want more of this, please!
Give this man an Emmy! Give everyone that worked on this an Emmy! This is great television right here.

We haven't seen Jake Lockley yet (or have we?) I think Marc created Jake Lockley not Steven in that room as a child to deal coping with his Mother beating him. Steven doesn't remember that and seems to remember a loving Mother not a cruel one as we see Marc turn to Steven start to talk on his cell outside the funeral to his Mother not realizing there is no answer. Also we have seen in this episode not just Marc and Steven talking to Doctor Harrow in the Asylum but possibly Jake (the patient with the broken nose) as well. His name has not been said yet but it's been implied he's been there.
