I don't need coaching, as I've been knitting for over 50 yrs. But I wanted to add a comment anyway to tell you what a great idea I think that is. I've watched a lot of knitting videos (always eager to learn new techniques), and I haven't seen anybody else offering private coaching. Good for you! I hope it works out well.

Brilliant technique. I am not sure a boucle yarn is the best for demo though.

I understand your comment, but I wanted to show that even using a harder to see yarn, the technique is amazing! Thank you for watching 😊

I’m glad you like it! You can use it for hems and fold over collars. My pattern In Bloom Sweater has a fold over collar. 🌸

I like it. I am thinking it would be useful to be able to lengthen sleeves or a sweeter to taste :) Once satisfied with the length, I can add the ribbing.

Thank you for the demo. Do you use the slip knot as a a stitch?

Interesting…..do you always do a knit row first or begin your pattern stitches?

Hi. looks like a great technique. Just used in to cast on a bottom up sweater. Now that I've knitted several inches, I'm wondering about the ridge formed from the backward loop cast on...the stitches don't seem to be "live", they look to be sitting on the cast on edge with the barber cord inserted. Just wondering if this cast on edge appears once we start knitting at the barber cord (cast on) edge? Thanks in advance for any advice. I'm concerned about the cast on edge showing once I start knitting on the barber cord end. Hope this question makes sense...Thanks in advance.

Hi Terri! I have not encountered having a ridge. The only thing I have had to do is sometimes knit into the back of the stitch because it was not seated the correct way.

This would’ve been so much easier to see if you’d used a simple yarn instead of that lovely boucle.

I totally get that Kathy… I purposely used a textured yarn to show how easy the technique is… I used a smooth yarn on my Instagram reel. 😊

Why wouldn't you use a yarn that's smooth. Would be so much easier to see. Thanks!

I used smooth yarn on my Instagram page (it’s pinned at the top of my feed). My goal with using a not smooth yarn is to show how easy the technique is regardless of the yarn! Happy knitting! 😊

This is not a true provisional cast on. It is essentially pre picking up stitches on a finished edge. Look at Laura Nelkin’s video for the real deal.
