  • Here I show how to decode your Master Lock dial locker lock in case you have lost or forgotten your combination code. This was a battle as the lock wasn't playing ball, so I had to use extra tricks.
    Method:::
    To find the first number, you should turn it several times to the left (counter clockwise) while putting gentle tension on the shackle (ie lift up using one finger) until you find a "stuck" position. Add 13 onto that number, and that is the 1st number!
    To find the third number, pull up on the shackle with medium tension, and test all the "gates" and look for the one with the largest movement (and also it should be the easiest to wiggle back & forth with not much resistance). That is the 3rd number!
    To find the second number, don't pull up on the shackle, and turn several times (full turns) to the right (clockwise) and stop on your first number, then turn one full turn left (counter clockwise) until you get to the first number again, and then test each second number (or quicker is: plus 2 the first time and plus 4 all the rest of the times), with each one turn right (clockwise) to the 3rd number, pull up on the shackle, and if it doesn't open then turn left to the next 2nd number and back to the 3rd number, etc. Repeat until the lock opens.
    More details (and tips & tricks) are in the video.
    Important - when you're finding the 2nd number, as you increase the 2nd number tries, you might go past the 3rd number position, in which case you only have to turn the dial left a little bit to get to the 3rd number (*not* all the way around!).
    It can take a while, but if you follow the instructions in the video you should be able to crack it.
    This is for Master Lock model 1500 (1500T / 1500D etc).

    Hi Swynndla, a couple of tips - all Master Combination 1500 series dial padlocks have either all odd or even numbers in their combinations, NEVER a mix. This doesn't matter when finding the combinations as there is usually one number tolerance. Fine tuning - use either odd or even numbers. The next very important fact. The original padlocks were made in Milwaukee USA. Stamped on the back case is Milwaukee W1 Made in USA. These locks don't have the additional external drive pin on the number 1 wheel that contacts the shackle retainer when pulling up on the shackle. The method of finding the first number will NOT work on the USA made padlocks using the system shown in many UA-cam videos. This is why so many UA-cam viewers comment ... " it doesn't work for me" All the later padlocks are made in Mexico ( not branded ) and the methods of finding the first number DOES work. Always check the the stamping on the back of the lock case. The American made padlock is much more accurate - and WITHOUT the additional drive pin.

      Thank you Brian! I knew about the all odd / even but I didn't mention it as it doesn't affect opening the lock (but yea perhaps I should have). Oh I didn't know about the two different types of locks depending on where it's made! There's a serial number at the back of the lock, but nothing else. The back of the packet says "Master Lock Company LLC", Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53210 U.S.A, Assembled in Mexico". Another one of my master lock packets says "Made to Exclusive Master Lock Specifications in China for Master Lock Company LLC, Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA, Distributed by Mayo Hardware". Mayo Hardware is a company in Australia, and it seems to be the distributer and support for masterlock.com.au (and that site is also on the packet). From what you're saying, the American made ones are the old ones, and so maybe they are cutting costs by manufacturing them elsewhere (and with the security "hole" that lets us decode it faster). So more and more locks out there will be able to be decoded by the method in the video. Thank you once again Brian for sharing all this info! 😜😜Have a great day!

    Finally! I've watched so many videos, and this one finally worked to identify the first number, and then using the math I learned prior, I figured out the most likely 3rd, and then the 2nd. This was after trying hundreds of combinations using other methods. Thanks!

      Congratulations for getting it open - excellent! 😜😜 So glad the video was helpful. Some of those master locks can be tricker, due to factory variances.

    Just popped a lock using this video. It works. Might take awhile. I don't have much experience so I was only able to narrow down the last number to 3 possibilities. Just start going through them though and it'll pop. Mine opened on the 4th middle number (1st last number) I tried. Thank you!!

    I’ll give it a go, but it looks like you’d need a lot of practice and patience for this to work. No wonder people shim them 😂

      For master lock ones, I'd recommend my video 171 as in that I show a slightly better method. I'm about to put up another master lock one too.

    There is a list that seems to have every master lock combination based on the number on the back of the lock.

    • @Swynndla
      @Swynndla  Рік тому

      Yes, you're correct. It's so Master Lock can help customers recover their combination code. Customers can send in a picture of the lock with the serial number, but Master Lock will only give the combination code if the lock is not currently locked to anything (even if you own the lock). The list is only meant to be kept by Master Lock & authorized associates.

      @@Swynndla Hate to say it but there is a .pdf file that can be found if you know what to search for. I'm into locksport and someone tipped me off to it. Unclassified, law enforcement.... I'll say no more.

    You got lucky with the first number. You said 14+15=27 instead of 29. Because the correct first number was 28, you were still within 1.
