Utility passage with water line, communications line, sewer line. The demo crew expected to do the job of identifying what's in a line? This doesn't happen every day & so some type of protocol may not have been followed.
Ohio, by and large, has been a swing state since 1980. While currently and the last 4 years it’s been a republican supermajority, they’re n two sides of the isle, and that majority was pro Obama two terms. Since 1976, Ohio has favored Dems 5 elections to Reps 7 elections. You should learn a bit more about politics before commenting.
These old gas lines will continue to lurk out of sight and degrade in multiple states. Another one of those things that we cannot afford to NOT address, but won't because "fiscal responsibility".
Since when does the National transportation safety board investigate these incidents? This should be investigated by OSHA and law enforcement as well as fire investigators.
"They said the NTSB does not investigate every natural gas explosion, but this one appears to bring up issues they are especially concerned about, namely, third-party vendors potentially causing gas explosions and why a not-in-service gas line had pressurized natural gas in it."

Mostly because the line wasn't properly marked or atleast that's what they will claim. So there will be an investigation to see if that is true or not and determine if it was the construction crews fault or someone else's.
Prayers to that young man's family and friends, I pray the Lord will bring them comfort in this time of need. I am grateful for God's mercy, that everyone else was able to get out before the explosion took place.
