Here's what we cover in this golf video to improve your chipping.
You Will Be Great at Chipping After Applying These Simple Tips
If you are a struggling golfer you need to make golf simple and the the short game and chipping is no exception.
We cover in this simple golf lesson for chip shots around the green;
Simple set up for consistency
Angle of attack for spin and control in your chip shots
Tempo in chipping
Distance control
So we need to understand that the technique to make a consistent shot has to be more shallow. I want you to find a tempo that is smooth because the bad shots often happen because we are trying to panic almost or hit it a bit too hard or swing too long and stop. We want to try and have an even smooth movement, the same sort of distance back and through. That's not like a perfect science, but that's the goal I want you to have and to find a nice tempo.
Alex Fortey from the Art of Simple Golf gives you simple tips to improve your golf swing. Enjoy this golf video to help you get closer to having YOUR perfect golf swing.
Your swing will be worse if you make one of the mistakes that many frustrated golfers do of turning the hips incorrectly in the golf swing, especially the backswing will not only ruin your golf swing consistency, it will hurt your body and you will struggle to have effortless power.

You are making me feel better, when ever I'm watching you teaching, I'm learning from you master man thank you.
Omg! This was the best tip I have gotten in a yr...thank you...I would not shallow my chips and it worked wonders today when I did
Wonderful and well done indeed! Keep at it and thanks for sharing! 🏆⛳️
I've struggled at chipping for years, I've tried all kinds of ways I've seen on UA-cam, I started doing this at 6:25 about a month ago, and it has helped tremendously .I do this while i play.I keep my right arm tucked in as i chip and just use my body.I moreless do the same for my putting also.
Glad to hear it and well done. Hope this helped reinforce and keep at it
You cleared my difficulty that I have suffered for years !! Thank you !!!
That makes me very happy! Well done!
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge man 🤘🏼
And I appreciate you watching and absorbing it :)
Great explanation of the shot, thank you!
Glad to hear it. 👍⛳️
Great drill, I get too handsy when chipping and prone to duffing as well so will definitely give this a go, cheers Alex👍
Glad it resonated! Let us know how it goes
@theartofsimplegolf thank you for reminding the tempo aspect
Yes it’s often overlooked !
He is right, I did way too much movement before and this is such great advice. It really is not that hard to do right.
Excellent! Glad you found your way and thanks for sharing 👍⛳️
Thank you!
👍🏆
Alex! Although I enjoyed this video on "the Best Chipping Tips" it looked like you was hitting the ball off a "fluffy" lie. Here is Southern California, we are in the midst of a draught situation and we don't get too many fluff lies anymore. Their more like "grassless lies." More dirt than grass. I'll try your shallow backswing approach but maybe with a less lofted club than a wedge. I like the thought of the body being in control of the shot! Always enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!!
Yes! The goal will be to get the leading edge striking but not digging. The tips will help t
Bought it also check the bounce on your wedges. Too much and can be tricky
great job simple
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you😅
Alex, I have a 45 degree pw, start with that, or my 52?
Please come 2 Perth and have a game with me Les from Perth WA 💯💯💯👍👍👍👀👀👀
Would love too! Merry Christmas 🎄
Although I won’t disagree with anything stated, I feel the club bounce in these shots is the main focus Because the club is designed for it.
The method and set up enhance that
Great tips! I felt wanting more. Can you do a follow up to this with instruction about different lies, maybe a bump n run, and some guidance about swing path?
Yes will do ! We do have more on this channel but also our membership has series dedicated to it :)
what club do you recommend chipping with? i have PW (46ish), 52, 56, 60 in the bag
Try starting with strongest (pw) and get comfortable with basic shot and no triCk lies or being to fancy with height.
Then work way up lofts
I only listen to metal, my tempo is 256BPM all the time. Can I apply that to this chipping drill?
Sure why not lol
put the metronome app on your phone and find the right beats per minute that suits you.
Maybe open the face just a bit so the bounce strikes the turf???
💪⛳️
Nice. Like the style and commentary
Thank you kindly
Chipping yips and or putting yips are 95% mental. Until the mental approach is conquered practice and technique will remain 5% of the challenge.
Oh for sure

🏌️♂️👍
Doesn’t phill mickelson literally preach hands forward?
Yes but for 80% of players the margin for error is too slim
Mr. Rose is a successful professional, so I will listen to what he says, BUT I do not agree with about half of it. The truly great chippers, like Raymond Floys for example, were all about using their hands for feel, not trying to deaden them.
The tip is fine but taking seven and a half minutes for a half minute tip can easily lead to the student losing the main point. I don`t know any tip givers who adhere to the less is more philosophy.
It’s important to know if one needs it and why. That’s how real change stays. Tip to tip and bouncing around quick tips is what is really hurting a lot of golfers 🏌️♀️ improvement
Well said. Very apt Comment.
What are you talking about? This video is FULL of tips. I'm a 12 hdc getting back into the game after a bad injury. This video is SO helpful. Maybe not for you, which is fine. But why be so critical? If you don't like the video - if it isn't getting to the point as you want, move on to another. That's what I do.
Sorry you didn't have time to answer my question on whether I should use my 52 or 45 degree wedge starting out, but I understand your business is growing and you may not have time for us common folk.
I have watched a lot of your videos?? I’m an ex film producer. You go on and on. Far far too much talk. Whoever is editing your videos should know. This video should have been no longer than 2 minutes.. I get totally bored. You say in the video less is more??? Listen to your own words
Always trying to improve not just the instruction but the delivery. But it’s also key to not just provide tip after tip. Knowing if and why it’s applicable to oneself is important to illicit real change. A chipping lesson with any coach would be more than 2 minutes.
But I appreciate your input and expertise. Thanks I’ll e devour
I use a PW (47), GW (52) , SW (57) and a LW (60). The LW always goes straight up so I consider it a last resort in case of emergency club. My GW works for me.👍👨🦳
