Ps. It's a well know thing the game currently runs like a dog so it's its not just me
@@cozzy4447 what you fail to grasp is that requirements get exponential, going from 720p to 1080p require 4x the power, every time you double Resolution, 720p to 1080p to 2k to 4k to 8k is 4x4x4x4, that is x256 increase in power just for resolution, to which you have to add multiplier for raytracing, realistic material, polygon overdraw, etc... 4k is x64 on resolution alone. Therefore when I say you want a miracle, on an open world game nonetheless that is 60gb in size, that's what I mean. I don't have a 1060, I picked the lowest card to which I have seen the game run at 60fps, a lot of modern game don't run at 60fps on that card, try wukong and cry, heck try the last of us or cyberpunk, they don't. The fact the game scales that low at 60fps is proof it's optimised well and the bottleneck is pixel complexity, which scale with resolution.
Played for 45 minutes and every single mission was forced stealth with insta fail and terrible checkpoints. I didn’t even make it to the open world part of the game and I can’t even imagine how trash that is.
To be fair, about the cinematic examples. In Star Wars when you finished the quest, that wasn't a cinematic. It's using the in-game NPC actor to talk to you. That means whatever you have in the world is what you get, meaning the lighting, any VFX, and the NPC's. The NPC model itself is very likely not equipped with the proper facial bones or animations. That would be very expensive for an in-game NPC to have complex animations like that. So they probably just trigger a play dialogue event that makes the NPC "mouth flap." Where as your Odyssey example looks closer to a hand crafted cinematic, not a full on cinematic, but something with more effort. And i would bet they swap out the NPC actors to a model with proper animations exclusively for cinematics/cutscenes. Then they probably do a quick load back to regular NPC's actors when the scene ends. I think your point still stands. It paints a sort of flimsy structure that stacks up with other issues the game has.
I feel like people get caught up in how Star Wars Outlaws environments look very good. They do. You look at the cities and many of the planets and you immediately realize that the environment artists and modelers have cooked like crazy. But that's where the beauty of that game seems to stop and it only goes downhill from there.
Just a reminder that Space Marine 2 is coming in 2 weeks. Outlaws will be half price or something in a few months anyway, with some of the issues patched out.
Lol im not gonna name names but i just came from a content creator that said Outlaws is a Phenomenal experience. He said its easily 9.5, possibly a perfect 10! 😂

Started it last night and took 40 minutes to get it running smoothly. Graphic settings are a mess and RTX Dynamic Lighting is completely broken. Textures kept snapping back and forth between low res and ultra res versions. If you changed the DLSS quality mode, you had to go in and swap textures again otherwise your FPS would tank to 30. Twas fun. Got it running smoothly eventually at 75 FPS on Ultra but it was a bumpy ride.
The reason I will not bother with Outlaws (aside from beeing an Ubisoft slop) is that I never really liked the "Han Solo archetype" in Star Wars. The dashing rogue with heart of gold who is a criminal but not a criminal. Mingling with the ohh soo hardcore underworld of the galaxy yet somehow still always a good person. From the moment I saw the first teaser I concluded that I wouldn't enjoy this game due to this setup and I wasn't wrong. I would rather have a Star Wars game that proudly dares to dwell into the criminal side of the galaxy, perhaps as a bounty hunter or mercenary. My dream game would be about a mandalorian mercenary who tries to build up their clan and earn infamy across the galaxy. But hope folks have fun with Outlaws regardless.
Unless they patch out the punching helmeted enemies to knock them out I won't be buying it, I just can't get my head around it, it's just too immersion breaking for me 🤣 (just give her a stun device or something)
7:44 no offense Luke, you can have fun playing with shit smearing it all over the wall, but that doesn't mean the shit is objectively good. You're a reviewer so please talk like a reviewer, wdym "having fun is what matters at the end of the day". People can have fun with ET & Gollum does that make those games good? I had fun with Gollum let's give it a 10/10 alright? Your defense for this game is literally "no explanation I had fun that's why here's a 7/10". I wonder if you would give an objectively good game lower scores cuz you didn't have fun. Cuz apparently only fun matters & fun decides who gets higher scores & lower scores. Why do we even need game reviewers when everything is so arbitrary & subjective. Everyone should just play every game & decide based on their feelings(aka fun meter) if they like a game. Why watch reviews before buying a game?
Chill dude. I get your point. But imo it is always the case for any entertainment. I enjoyed so many movies and games that were reviewed badly. Also some really good games apparently don't really vibe with me at all. So obviously look into reviews, but at the end your enjoyment will matter for games/movies/series etc. I still think this ain't a 7. Not unless you're a diehard star wars fan. It's not for me.
But he’s right, it’s about fun above all. Idk what happened but somehow you gamers turned into advanced software analysts and have to dissect a game into pieces before you play it. Like chill bro lol just keep playing if you enjoy it or drop it if you don’t. 😊
lmao, entertainment is subjective, you said it yourself. is fun not what ultimately matters? a whole lot of yapping to say nothing. what the fuck do you want him to do? give a game a low score even though he had a lot of fun playing it? how fucking dumb does that sound?
...but...having fun literally IS what matters at the end of the day. It's a videogame, what else are you playing it for lmao I think Outlaws looks mid af and I'm not gonna play it, but to claim 'it's not about fun' when talking about videogames is a hog wild regarded take lolol
17:22 "The game has a couple of bad elements" Bro, how can you argue that there is a balance of bad and good elements when you just spent ages explaining why the gameplay suck so much and then your "good element" example is that the generic Unreal Engine jungle landscape look good. It's obvious that you're willingly being biased towards it. Wouldn't recommend being defensive about areas of "loading transition screen/cutscene" in a game that looks this ugly in platforms like the PS5 and Series X. A game that looks like that should load in an instant. The fact that this crappy looking of a game needs these transition screens for loading, implies that the game is incredibly poorly optimized.
@@kiwd-dynamic I am not turning it to be a 7/10 it literally IS a 7-8/10 according to reviews. Hard to accept that you want this game to fail so badly but realizing it is a good game
I fucking hate how Luke is advocating people dumb themselves down and lower their standards so they can enjoy what’s pretty obviously a mediocre game at best, and a bad game at worst. Instead of advocating for people not to spend money on this crap and for studios to quit releasing garbage like this.
I think if this was $49.9 or $59.9 it would be less complaints. Charging us adults $70 for a game with issue is ridiculous. And Black Friday is in November lol
I appreciate Luke giving an honest take. It’s okay for a game to be good fun, and bad art. Everyone’s going to have a different opinion on where that line is.
I played it yesterday after watching your review and started the game on Hard difficulty. The AI, at least on PS5, was actually pretty good for me. They investigated bodies on the ground and at one point I was getting flanked by enemies with them also throwing grenades and putting shields up. Might be worth playing on console to do a comparison.
[repost]This is essentially a stealth game. Which is good because I love stealth games. Unfortunately, the stealth game mechanics of this game really suck. Often you will fail for no discernable reason, and sometimes you will succeed when you should not. Creating a stealth game with janky stealth is poor game design.
I’ve had times where it takes the enemy like a few seconds to even acknowledge I was right in front of them. And then other times where they turn towards me and instantly 8 storm troopers just start blasting and I’m dead instantly it’s all over the place. But still having fun
Because it's pointless? Everybody knows what type of games Ubisoft are making, if you like their formula you are probably gonna have fun with game. The negatives are more specific to this game, so of course you want to go into the details.
I've learned to wait at least 6 months after a big game released before I play it sometimes longer it just add up to a better first time experience I just started baldurs gate last week for example and while I here it was great from the start but now it on its 7th patch i imagine it's even better now than when it first released I'll keep plying baldur's gate till I've done everything in it and played all characters by the time I finish it starwars outlaws will be next
I truly appreciate your honest opinions about Outlaws. Back when they first announced this, it seemed too good to be true. I was very excited about this releasing on My Birthday today, but I’ll just wait til its on sale cause nobody should be paying 70+ dollars for a game that has terrible AI in 2024 😅
Currently in the game and have 15 hrs playtime already and I must say I kinda do enjoy it A LOT. Im so weary and tired of Disney Star Wars that this felt right and it mostly does. The characters are cool, the main story is interesting and riding on your speeder through planets is a little dream of me that came true😅 All in all its a good small scoped Star Wars Game. My biggest issue was some of the design decisions in the world (Especially that Wanted System) other than that? Im pretty satisfied. Would I advise you to spend 100 bucks on this? No. 70 if you are a true Star Wars fan and want to scoop up everything they offer otherwise just wait till Black Friday and it will be 40 Bucks and 40 Bucks is absolutely fair!

@@timmygilbert4102 sorry but it's you that clearly doesn't know what optimization means 🤣
What do u even mean by a miracle my pc is light years ahead of your 1060 system so yeah I ain't praying for miracles like you running it at 720 that's just cope if u believe that.
I played the game 3h had no fun the entire time, open world is empty gameplay no fun and story actually on the acolyte level
You are correct sir
Wait for it to be half-off and in the bargain bin? This got me laughing bro that was savage.
money talks, clearly…
One thing that’s abundantly clear is that Ubisoft paid for this coverage and respawn didn’t pay up for fallen order and survivor

When i first saw the han solo outfit, I said "no they did not!" Then i see the Lando outfit..... cC'mon now, devs. You couldn't be more creative?
This is actually an all time low for critisisers of this game. Really trying to act like having an outfit that references a famous character from the same universe is a problem is kinda sad and a bit pathetic

It's a videogame, what else are you playing it for lmao
I think Outlaws looks mid af and I'm not gonna play it, but to claim 'it's not about fun' when talking about videogames is a hog wild regarded take lolol
I had fun with Rogue Warrior but that game was sub par.
Would be nice to see him THIS nice with other games too
Bro straight up doing the lords work playing turds so we don't have to.
17:22 "The game has a couple of bad elements"
Bro, how can you argue that there is a balance of bad and good elements when you just spent ages explaining why the gameplay suck so much and then your "good element" example is that the generic Unreal Engine jungle landscape look good.
The only guys being willingly biased are the guys in the comments who can't bear with someone not telling them what they want to hear

this is embarrassing
I fucking hate how Luke is advocating people dumb themselves down and lower their standards so they can enjoy what’s pretty obviously a mediocre game at best, and a bad game at worst. Instead of advocating for people not to spend money on this crap and for studios to quit releasing garbage like this.
This game is a complete skip for me. No chance I buy. Gimme 40k though in 2 weeks!

Red dead redemption 2 style but being a true star wars outlaw would be amazing
Played it via Ubisoft Connect, felt pretty mid to me. I do find the overabundance of insta fail stealth to be really frigging aggravating though.
You're losing your credibility man...
Ubisoft always makes it sounds like they have passion for games but everything they do feels so run of the mill compared to true passion projects
This is a great break down of the game . As a technical artist, I'm surprised that some of this got through.

I’m a big believer of for Ubisoft games u need to engage in a decent amputation of the side quest to have fun
I applaud the minimal pop-in. That and poor LOD transitions are my biggest pet peeves these days.
I’ve had times where it takes the enemy like a few seconds to even acknowledge I was right in front of them. And then other times where they turn towards me and instantly 8 storm troopers just start blasting and I’m dead instantly it’s all over the place. But still having fun

Luke why you keep saying it is not that bad but for 30min say all the problems with the game and give zero reason to play the game?
Because it's pointless? Everybody knows what type of games Ubisoft are making, if you like their formula you are probably gonna have fun with game.
The negatives are more specific to this game, so of course you want to go into the details.
Just a reminder: Cancel your Ubisoft Plus, now.
Why the fuck would someone pay to have it anyway?
Because none of the projects in ubisoft talk to each other. In fact that are actively fighting each other

The characters are cool, the main story is interesting and riding on your speeder through planets is a little dream of me that came true😅
All in all its a good small scoped Star Wars Game.
