Absolutely brilliant can't beat db engineering I'd personally just clean her up full service and cover her in clean old oil I use a paintbrush and generally the old transmission oil
I learned to drive on a 880, graduated to a 950, a 990 and finally a 1212, always started first time, that’ll be down to the Aston Martin input for the engines.
There was a David brown assembly plant near my home when I was a boy they had rows of assembled tractors in a field behind the factory it closed in 1988 a few of my relatives worked there in 60s and 70s.
That's the early one! It's has its battery on a side mounted tray, and has the multipart cast front axle. Mine dated from 1963, and was of the same construction. Like the old Fordson Super Major, these things will start when nothing else will. Mine emigrated to Ireland in the late 80s, but it's not this one!
@@perunat-on-hyvia That would be the later model. There was also a variant which had a pair of 6v batteries (one one each side of the driver's seat). I think that as safety became more of an issue, the battery was moved ever further away from the driver.
I can confirm that the clock works good, the previouses owners father bought the tractor new, and apparently nothing was changed on the tractor not even the tires.
Good old tractors they are! That one started as easy as it GETS! WOW! IMPRESSIVE! GREAT RUNNING TRACTOR! NO SMOKE! YOU GOT A KEEPER THERE!
Thanks, apparently this tractor hasn't seen much work, was used mostly for splitting wood. Thats what I've been told.

I’m not the biggest David brown fan, but their engines do sound good to be fair
Probably the best tractor David brown produced
These were smart looking tractors back in the day remember a farm that had a two 990's and a 885.

Give the old girl a spray over with a mixture of diesel and oil to halt the rust after a good service.
