I wonder how much of the reputation the trades have for being "low people" comes from the behavior of people in the trades. A lot of dudes have no manners or concept of what is appropriate to say around the general public. I say some truly awful things at work but at the same time the random lady walking by doesn't deserve to be subjected to that. Manners cost nothing.
I am a union carpenter and once upon a time someone said "construction workers have a reputation to live down to" the stereotype is there and you're not wrong. I like to prove otherwise and conduct myself in a kind, courteous manner. That is why I tend to work in hospitals.
one benefit of trades is that you don't have to take general education classes that are heavily political, feminist, anti male, anti white, etc. I was looking at enrolling in some engineering classes at a university, and it was like they don't want white men. It was all about getting women and minorities into engineering.
I agree. I think we should judge people as individuals and based on their character. The trades definitely taught me that. And I might of changed a few minds myself.

Going to job corps soon to learn carpentry 👌🏾
Great choice. You get to enter the apprenticeship directly after you finish.

universities are marxist, sexist and racist against white men.
