Love that new low camera shot thru the last S's going to the back straight. LMP3 is one of my favorite classes to race with in the sim racing world. Cool stuff. Thanks Bozzy.
Ahh, yes! True ladies need not announce their arrival, as such things are felt at once. Yet whence the song of their temptation is sung, all are subject to its allure. Beautiful film Bozz! Thank you. B.P.
Thank you mate! They sounds really loud and raw (and I love them for this) but I'm not a big fan of that V8 tone... I don't know why but after 1-2 hours listening to them they bore me a little :/
For those who didn't know, lmp3 actually use the largest engine(5.0 v8 from nissan) compared to their lmp1 & lmp2 brothers. But the power output are limited to 420hp. While lmp2 has smaller engine which is 4.2L v8 from gibson but can produce up to 600 hp.
99CCFF756e6b6e6f776e6578696199CCFF647072746c646b I don't think I commented in the right thread. I have a bad habit of still trying to internet when I'm falling asleep. 💤
So are there plans in the future for these to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, pretty pointless calling them LMP's if they don't compete in the main race itself.
The only infiniti to sport these engines were the FX50. Also Mr vettel him self had a hand in developing the FX50 Vettel edition with only 200 being made and 155k each.
19Bozzy92, your binaural recording prowess is ever on display in this video. Thank you. As your prowess in capturing sound increases, however, you may find fewer accolades. As you increase fidelity to what it, people may start saying "Sound A is the best" "Rubbish! Sound B is best" and "A and B are both rubbish! Sound C is best." When this happens, please remember that this is the finest testament to your success.
LMP3 is a spec engine class. The idea is to keep costs down, a Ferrari engine isn't going to lower operating costs. You can stick a bigger, more powerful powerplant in just about anything and go faster. Why not put a 500ci LS7 engine in them?
The three rotor in the Furai would probably be at least as heavy as one of these alloy v8s, but also as reliable or moreso. Common misconception of rotaries is their reliability. A well built one holds together pretty good in a racing situation.
It is an endurance car, so yes. This was at the European Le Mans Series collective tests, a series that features 4 hour races. The cars are also being run on a very good cost/mileage ratio that makes prototypes more accessible to newcomers to the sport, so they make sure they can run the cars for long while still performing. It also reduces the risk of the car biting back at drivers who aren't too experienced or confident with this level of performance. However, the cars do not weigh much and feature exceptional downforce for cornering speed, so don't underestimate them!
It even is simpler. They only had to take this great engine from the Infiniti FX50 (later renamed to Infiniti QX70 5.0) where it produces 390hp. You easily can get 30 additional hp by changing the exhaust.
These cars does not have flat plane cranks, they have 90 degree cross plane cranks, which gives that famous V8 rumble, a 180 degree flat plane crankshaft, gives a sound that is more similar to a 4 cylinder engine.
Externally there's not too much difference between LMP3 and LMP2, you can see a significant difference on engines, LMP3 has only 1 engine of 420 HP output vs an standard 650HP of LMP2 engines
Boring and slow? I don´t think so. Besides that, the class is mainly for little teams, who want to get into prototype racing, before they make the step up to LMP2.
LP for ever i gave your comment a thumbs down because that’s not necessarily true. United Autosports has an LMP2 and LMP3 effort. and LMP3 drivers by regulation require at least one silver or bronze driver, which means they’re amateurs who are slow and not as fun to watch gold or platinum drivers
In 2016, teams like United Autosport, Graff Racing and Cetilar Villorba Corse were only competing in the LMP3 ranks of the ELMS. With the experience they got in the LMP3 class, they were able to move up to the LMP2 ranks for 2017 and all three of them have upgraded to a second car for this year (with the exception of Graff, since they already used 2 cars in 2017). Also, what is so bad about amatuer drivers? Sure they aren´t that fast but they do it because they are passionate about the sport. I like all sorts of racing and don´t really mind amatuer drivers or teams (they also help the teams with the founding of a race team, when they bring in their money).
Not the noise one would expect coming from cars that look like that...but I'm definitely not complaining!
reminds me of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2/GTE but softer :D that's the same kind of special tone
Love that new low camera shot thru the last S's going to the back straight. LMP3 is one of my favorite classes to race with in the sim racing world. Cool stuff. Thanks Bozzy.
GM GOODWRENCH what simulator do you use to race lmp3? I want It too!
I absolutely love the sound of the LMP3 cars. Even though it's the lowest LMP-class, it has the best sounding engine.
Ahh, yes! True ladies need not announce their arrival, as such things are felt at once. Yet whence the song of their temptation is sung, all are subject to its allure. Beautiful film Bozz!
Thank you. B.P.
Thank you so much mate! ;)
Nah, all thanks to you B! B.P.
They sound even greater in person. I think they were at Limerock (the vk series motor)
Thanks for the video bozzy! Gotta love the grunt these little things make, which blew me away when I first heard them XD
Thank you mate! They sounds really loud and raw (and I love them for this) but I'm not a big fan of that V8 tone... I don't know why but after 1-2 hours listening to them they bore me a little :/
I have gotten to go to a race with these cars and omg they are loud and awesome!
They sound brilliant
Great fan of the Norma, best looking LMP3 imo
I work for Kelly Moss Motor Sports and we won the inaugural lmp3 championship in IMSA with the Norma M30
Loud and proud!
Thanks Bozzy. Great way to start the new year.
Thank you for watching!
Wow those cars sound very good. Wasn’t expecting that 😅
Thats amazing, how a racecar should sound. Just wish there were more flames.
Pure sound of joy
Imagine the r35 had this engine instead.
I always dreamt of that. Like the gtr gt1 car. Would be so cool.
Beautiful cars, thank you and Happy New Year!
I'm in late but happy 2018 to you too ;)
Nice vid en happy newjear bozzy gretts from the Nederlands
Thank you so much!

Hi Bozzy. Can anyone attend one of these testing sessions or is it by invite only? Excellent video as always. Regards, Simon.
A lot of test days you can just attend for free, some you can get free tickets others you just turn up.
the biggest problem, at least for me, is to be notified of these test days. these are private tests, usually.
Skreamies Thanks.👍🏻
The sound doesn’t fit with the cars. lol
LMP3 are smaller V8 engines normally aspirated and sound like a local race car.
sounds like v8 supercars lol
You need to get out more, mate.
Why is this Spam Can guy talking shit?

So much better (and faster!) than the outgoing IMSA PC cars. What a great class
I love this sound...
Used that v8 engine in Nissan gtr that's awesome!

Thanks for the comment! :) Just a little correction: this one wasn't recorded with the binaural mic but with a "standard" Canon stereo microphone ;)
Thanks!
Now pop a mazda Furai engine in it and tune it, lighter and faster.
SzaboBeatz HD Or a well built 4 cylinder. The Mazda Furai would never run half as long as this engine or a racing 4-banger.

SzaboBeatz HD pussy rai never race in any street or competition lol

SzaboBeatz HD that rai is a ford engine lol
Nice !
Nice vid
Thanks!
5.0 Litre V8 at only 420hp... Is this designed for maximum reliability?
It is an endurance car, so yes. This was at the European Le Mans Series collective tests, a series that features 4 hour races. LMP3 V8s
lol endurance lmp cars sound beefier than formula 1 cars now what a time to be alive
It sounds incredibly similar to the Corvette C7R.
ALONSO ESPAÑA SIIIII
v8's are better than i4's xD
Everything is better than i4s
yeah! inline 2 rules!!
I love v1 and inline 1 engines so much
Sadly they were never built
Calle 50 mate there needs to be 2 cyls at least for a V design engine
Aston Martin V8 lmgt engine?
Nissan 5.0 420hp
420HP
😃
su project cars 2 il suono è identico a questo
Aerodownforce is visible though crossplane sound does not suit racing
These cars does not have flat plane cranks, they have 90 degree cross plane cranks, which gives that famous V8 rumble, a 180 degree flat plane crankshaft, gives a sound that is more similar to a 4 cylinder engine.
fontheking5 I meant cross, corrected :)
Uuuuuhhh don't they look exactly like LMP2 cars? I really can't spot a single difference
you definitely can if you take a close look ;D But it's the same with lmp1 and 2. If you don't know which is which you can't really tell, either.
You can tell by the fact that the rear wing does not connect with the body on the ends
The top half of the chassis is tubular steel rather then a full carbon monocock like an lmp2 or lmp1
Externally there's not too much difference between LMP3 and LMP2, you can see a significant difference on engines, LMP3 has only 1 engine of 420 HP output vs an standard 650HP of LMP2 engines
smaller wing endplates and the less complex sidepod aero are the main differences I see
The GTR should've had a V8...
In your face F1 !
broooot prrr froooot brooot broo pro prooooot prrrt prrrt - well this is not good news ;)))
watched the IMSA Prototype Challenge at Lime Rock Park in 2017 and yeah these things are so boring and slow

These cars arent slow and they are far from boring. Andvwatching ametuer drivers is much better cause theyre more likely to make mistakes
Sounds too American 👎🏻
Mac Diddles and?
Crucial_US and what?
Mac Diddles I'm not sure that's a problem
I guess by that idiotic mindset, the old Lola T90s and McLaren M8s also sounded "Too American"?
RACECAR Porsche 917 shit on that mclaren
