Originally I think I wanted to be an ME, but I’ve actually decided to be a BM, 1. Because of the long wait list to get into ME school, but also BM’s appear to be law enforcement, search and rescue, etc. They just seem more versatile.
I was striking BM on a 210 before they had a school in 72. I got transferred to an air station just before being designated. I had to go to engineman school in Yorktown to get off the air station. Ended up in the engine room of a 378. How ironic BM school is in Yorktown? As soon as the video started I knew that was Yorktown by the bridge and Battlefield trails.
Wow! USCG BM A school includes pretty much everything from Navy Aircrew Candidate School, some from Aviation Rescue Swimmer school, and then even more! Very impressive!
Lourdes T. Yeah that's true. It's really tempting to just go Navy for the gauranteed job. But actually helping people out and doing boardings sounds awesome. RIP
So do you get to go to BM A school right after boot camp or is there a waiting list? I really am interested in becoming a BM and hopefully stationed somewheres in Florida. I also want to be on an msrt unit or taclet or something of that sort.

One of the benefits of BM's is they are very versatile. Because of this they are involved in everything including SAR and Law enforcement.
Anyone know if MEs are given priority over BMs for DSP units like MSRT and such?
Alex Echeverria I’ve got no idea. I think it probably depends on the individual applicant but then again I have don’t know for sure

@@alexecheverria8971 There are more billets for MEs in these units....They also have BMs and MKs but there are more spots for MEs.
